I'm 72 and I've been crocheting since my Grandma taught me as a child so I don't really need the beginner pattern but you usually learn some little thing that helps. This was a very good tutorial and seems like it would be very easy to understand as a beginner. I like the simplicity of this basket and agree it will be good for gifts. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I'm going to start making these for Christmas now.
❤❤❤ I made lots of baskets using them at home some deep some shallow. Using twine rope or ordinary yarn but when I use yarn I crochet it with a plastic cloth rope for my baskets to be sturdy to keep their shape.. I have never tried using just yarn ❤❤❤ but will try now ❤❤ THANK YOU
Thank you for this tutorial! I am in the process of making a mini food basket(s) to give to one of my friends having a baby this year and this is a perfect way to give them a little storage for the food and something to play with elsewhere! Thank you oh so much! Will be making a few to have multiple storage places.
Finally, clear and some instructions without music, I am going to try now with my tshirt yarn to make a bed for my daughter's kitty. Will let you know how it goes. Please post a circle basket instructions, you are so great Thank you
I have been crocheting for years and I am so glad I found you. You have really upped my game with your so easy to follow instructions. You are so sweet keep up what you are doing. You are a treasure. God Bless
Omg i love this easy to do gift basket tutorial. I made mine while watching this and mines hot pink and yellow. Lols very out there colours but i thought i could get a few easter coloured ones in preparation for easter this year. I love your tutorials and have subscribed. Thanks for showing these amazing tutorials
Great basket Ms. Tiffany..... I used the Ribbon cotton yarn by Hobbiii and it was beautiful for the holidays!!!!! Thank you and Have a Blessed Holiday.
Love the basket, not sure I like the glueing part. I love the fabric glue in cross-stitch but would rather leave a little extra thread and weave in the ends when I’m crocheting or knitting , just my opinion. Thanks for the video.😄
This is the best tutorial I’ve found for a square basket! Those that show how to in a round are all too conrusing! I love how you tale us through step by step too. I’m a subscriber now!
I always wanted to make baskets for my cats. I prefer knitting to crocheting, although I have really advanced myself in knitting & a bit in crocheting, but not at the same level. I always struggle with the magic ring, counting rows, sometimes end up with more stitches on the next row or less. I still struggle with the first hole that I'm supposed to go in for that first sc, dc, hdc or tcr. But your video made a lot of sense today with the counting of the rows & where to put the hook after turning the corner. I'm already subscribed, but instead of waiting for new videos, I should also look at the older ones, I'm pretty sure I will pick up a lot. THANKS :)))
I love the way knitting looks! It is just beautiful. But I never really got the knack for it. I am so so glad that my instructions in my tutorials has helped things make a bit more sense. I can really see how crochet could look overly complicated but it's actually so simple and I just want to show people why I think so. 😊🧡🧶
It may look that way because of the angle but nope. It's actually 6 inches wide and 9 inches long. You can probably stretch it a little wider. If you would like to change the size of the basket it is super easy. Change the number of chains in the foundation row to change the width and change the number of rows you make to change the length. I hope this helps! 😊💖🧶
Hi Thank you so much for wonderfully explaining this, I just wanted to check if each of the 17 rows need to end with a slip stitch and start with a chain 1?
Hi Jennifer! I did the slip stitch to close the side rows of the basket with a chain 1 to get to the next row only to keep the rows level. I knew that I was going to make a color change for the fold over and wanted to make sure that the color change wasn't spiraled. You can absolutely work each side row continuously if you want. Totally make it your own and do your own thing! To close off the last row I would count the number of rows on each side to make sure everything is even and then slip stitch in a corner edge to close it off. Great question! Thanks for asking. 😊🧡🧶
Nope, you got this. Some yarns work up stiffer than others but I think in general this is a softer basket that works best when full. Let me know if you try the stiffener and how it works for you. 😊❤️🧶
Love this basket. My question is do you slip stitch at the end of each of the rows of the sides? I see your slip stitch when you changed colors, but you don't do that at beginning of each new side row, do you?
Hi Janet! Great question! For this basket I did slip stitch to close each row and here’s why. I wanted to make sure that my rows stayed level and did not do that row shift thing. Sometimes that is not a big deal but for project I wanted each row to stay level. But that was just my preference. If you want to work the basket continuously you absolutely can. 😊❤️🧶
I love the crochet that you do, and would love to have a go at some of them. I live in the UK and when I tried to order the glue, Amazon said that they cannot get hold of it and don't know if it will ever come back in....... HELP
Can you use any type of yarn. I have a lot of different color of yarn I bought from someone some dont have a label on them so I don't know what kind it is or weight.
Great question! You can absolutely use whatever size yarn you want to make this basket. Just keep in mind that the thicker or thinner the yarn will effect the size of the basket if you are following MY directions. Feel free to adjust the number of stitches and rows you make to create the basket size you want. As for the type of yarn fiber you use, I chose 100% cotton yarn for it's structure and denseness. If you make this basket with acrylic yarn or wool yarn you will notice the structure is not as dense. But it is up to you if that is important or not. 😊🧶❤️
For the sides, when you join with a slipstitch and chain 1, do you then do the next sc in the same one where the chain is or the next stitch? The hook kind of covers thos part of the video.
Hi Judy! Great question. When you slip stitch and then chain 1, your very first stitch will go into the same stitch you slip stitched into. Thank you so much for asking. 😊🧶🧡
Hi Paula! I used about a skein and a half of the peach color and then maybe a third of a skein for the brown. This would be a normal sugar’n cream skein not the Super Size. Thanks for asking. 😊❤️🧶
I found that folding the side over helped to stabilize the sides. Without the fold it didn't have much structure. Double up your yarn when crocheting definitely helps the structure by making the stitches more dense. 😊💖🧶
I liked this pattern. However there needs to be a way to make the sides stay up better. I think i'm going to hot glue some plastic or cardboard to the sides.
You can slip a box into the crocheted basket and fold some of the crochet inwards over the box, like a sock, to hold the box in place. Then no need to glue, or to use much glue. The beauty of this is that we can easily customize the size.
I thought the folding over the top really helped give the basket structure. The tighter the stitches the better the structure will be. So playing with yarn and needles may help. 😊

Oh my!! I'm visualizing it filled with baby items for a baby shower. Do you think it would still stand nice if I doubled the size in length and width?
I think it would be fine especially if you filled it 😁❤️🧶
Great tutorial! Thanks for sharing
I like the fold over
thanks and easy to adapt to different size baskets.

I used to know a Tiffany Hansen! It's a trip though because she was my cellmate in prison and that's where we learned how to crochet lol

I've made this before but unless you double the yarn the ends will not stand up. I use my baskets for napkin holders
