I have a 12 year old dancer son and he can eat cake and other desserts. He has dessert at least once a day. If they are growing and exercising that much-a piece of cake will not do anything
When I danced in college at 21, because I would stay all day when not sick to make up classes I would down a whole dragon and phoenix plate and hot and sour soup over the course of a day (chinese takeout is high calorie) and within a straight week one of my dance teachers was like "you look like you dropped 15 pounds overnight" so....there's that....

Some of the gifts were donated, as Abby states when Maddie is given the shoes.
The shoes were advertising really. The company donated them with the hopes that Maddie would wear them, as like a spokesperson for the brand. She was the biggest star of the show after all. They don't have to pay her an ongoing fee. Just give her the shoes. I think she may have conveniently had a tap solo the next season.

Gabriella Parr when Abby told Chloe she was gifted a “lifetime certificate of books”, it really meant that she was gifted a $250 certificate by the tv company, Lifetime. The gift certificate actually says “$250.00” instead of “Lifetime”

I'm convinced that Abby's gifts of shopping sprees and Christmas presents to the children were the producers' form of damage control. Abby's image was suffering from being mean to kids. They want drama, but the last thing they want to do is lose viewers.

I feel like some of the gifts could have been a form of product placement too, similar to the Lifetime Amazon fire sticks. The fruit basket, for example, is very clearly an Edible Arrangements basket to anyone familiar with their products. I don't remember the Christmas episode in detail, but I feel like that some of the gifts the girls got could have been from sponsors as well.

The racist comment comes as no surprise to me after Abby berated Nia's braids, even after Holly said they were part of her culture.
Abby type cast all the poc cast and did her best to make Holly fit the "angry black woman" stereotype, despite how rationally and calmly she approached every concern she had. Pay attention also to how Black Patsy was portrayed. They also made Camille Bridges appear "sassy."
Notice how Asia and Nia were always pushed into "sassy" "drag queen" dances. Also remember when Holly was concerned about Nia being typecast and Abby said that Nia should be because she can do all sorts of "ethnic" roles.
Almost all of Nia's moments to shine where her playing other other African Americans e.g Shangela aka Laquifa, Maya Angelou, and Rosa Parks.
That's not to mention that after disbanding the Select Ensemble but keeping Sarah, but that not working out because of Christy, she brought back Jade as a second choice and had her compete a solo called "Far East." Abby also called the dance "flirtatious" which is weird for a child to do but she's also playing into the sexualisation of East Asian women. Jade was also costumed in Chinese-style clothing in her solo but Jade is Vietnamese. The number was described broadly as "East Asian" so it wouldn't have hurt to costume it more to her actual birthplace.

Yolanda's ultimatim was more likely directed at the producers but as usually happens anything said about the producers get edited to refer to somebody else. Yolanda and Elliana did an interview with Abterbuzz TV in season 7 where they explain some of the differences between how it looks on the show and how things really are.
Not to mention Ellie explained that she wanted to compete in the Junior Division of the Dance awards and (I am not sure if this was in the interview or not) possibly performing in the Nutcracker that year.

That is disgusting, especially when one considers that this comes from a woman who, judging by how she cried over her dog, knows that animals are absolutely capable of feeling and suffering. This tells you all that you need to know about the Zieglers for finding it cool, Jill for wearing it and Abby for buying it. I'm glad that karma apparently already bit Abby in the ass, let's hope that the rest of them will be next. And giving animals as christmas gifts? Animal shelters are literally overflowing each year shortly after the holidays, to the point that humane societies pretty much beg people not to give animals as gifts, and then those idiots go on TV and make gifting animals look like it's a good idea? This show, the people who were in it, and the people who produced it, are absolutely vile.

8:01 a few years ago melissa was selling the girls costumes and dance stuff on Amazon. And there was maddie's pink tap shoe that she grab when she see the present. So maddie got her shoes but i don't think she really use them that much. And at that age kids grow so fast and probably they were her size for a year and a half only

If You read the production notes in the video,you'll see that it talks about the production influence.Also,the intro always says "There's much more...than the producers cared to show", which shows that there's more evidence in these notes than the producers cared to show.I can't believe these producers and Abby got away with their narcissistic behavior and unfair actions.
The whole Brady cake incident definitely shows how production sets up these food treats
Don't blame other people for your weight gain, Abby. No one FORCED the food into your mouth or held a gun to your head telling you to eat it.
Take accountability for your actions and stop trying to push blame onto other people.
*The real reason why Abby forbade the moms to ever mention Studio 19, is because she knew the producers wanted to stir up the same old rivalry with hallway fights, public yelling matches, bresking into each others' dressing rooms, etc. It's trashy and Abby didn't want to be associated with it anymore. So Abby needed the moms to not give in to the producers. Michelle kept mentioning them, which is why she was treated so harshly.*
She also hated that they were promoting a studio that was a direct business competitor of hers. Candy Apples was fine, initially, because Cathy was in Ohio and not directly competing with her. The producers obviously chose Studio 19 because of Michelle and Sarah's connection to it. I suspect that Abby left the studio that day not because she was upset with the song but because she had an argument with the producer about the Studio 19 thing.

fun fact in one of Christie's RUclips videos which she goes through Chloe's old costumes from the show she said that Chloe got books she had read years ago and that they were baby books and she got an amazon gift hard that was like 200 dollars not a life time certificate of books and maybe a kindle to she also said that most of the girls were sad because kenzi got a puppy and not them and even said that she was thinking of going to buy Chloe a puppy that day from the breeder where life time got kenzi's puppy but mark aka Chloe's dad and Christie's husband said no because they were constantly on the go and just simply didnt have the time to give it the attention it needed

What I find super unfair is that there is a bit in the contract that said that the dancers couldn’t gain or lose 5 to 10 pounds yet the producers would always take all the good food whenever the food was served and they would leave the dancers with chips and fruit snacks. How is that fair?

I think that in the first few seasons the producers gifts were actually kind things for the girls, mums and Abby but when they realised that gifts tended to cause drama they started giving fake gifts to intentionally make drama

It may be really obvious or could be something deeper, but I always wonder why Abby would ever go back to lifetime if they treat her and the girls so badly? Like to "keep her fat", or make the girls maintain a wait, etc etc. Its an awful environment to be in, surely she'd be better off saving other kids from the mental harm

lauren x frankly i believe lifetime wouldve blackballed her in the TV industry if she tried to switch networks. additionally im sure there is a no compete clause within the contracts that says they cant appear on any other shows or networks w/o their consent for x amount of years. finally, shows rarely if ever survive a network jump. from the outside it might seem simple but i doubt they would’ve ever switched networks even if they were allowed to
