      The only reason they're progressing so quick is because they're using Rockstars own assets LoL. That being said what they're doing is still impressive.

    The progress is showing quite a lot! I suppose you got new people in your crew, considering this took a huge leap forward compared to your last showoff. Also, the fact that one day we can play this in a retail console is a huge premise to incentive time travel and do some postings on Dreamcast forums saying this wouldn't run on Dreamcast :^)

    Dreamcast was A TRUE 6TH GEN CONSOLE. This proves that low specs didn't were the problem for PS2/GC/XBOX games on 1998 hardware, only DC was discontinued. This is just incredible. Finally, the game that Rockstar cancelled returns to its original project console. This is crazy and surpass Shenmue 2 (in terms of open world, not texture quality but in polygons GTA 3 and Vice City are much bigger). Congratulations for the progress. You guys are the best things in the world. Dreamcast will never die! 🎮🙌🏻❤ Cheers from Argentina 🇦🇷👏🏻👏🏻

      Well the Dreamcast was weak (some parts are better than PS2 like RAM for example, but it's objectively weaker than the GameCube and Xbox in basically everything), but I believe it could've ran GTA III and (especially) Vice City with little issues had they been officially released.

      ​​@@unknown11833 yes but ps2 has an slower fpu than the dreamcast and the dreamcast can do texture compress that only dreamcast and Nintendo gamecube can do

      we were talking about ram not vram. Ps2 has 32MB, gamecube 24 and Dreamcast 16. And the Ps2 actually also had Texture compression.

    Great stuff. According to too many this "isn't good enough" which is a load of rubbish. This is still early build and the amount of improvement in such a short time is fantastic. Great work!

    I shouldn't comment here but i will say heads up for the controls, set them to default to "controller" mode for now, that will make the player controls and camera movement the same as it was in the PS2, will also help down the line to adapt functions to the lower amount of buttons, i cant remember if we did leave a PSP set in there or if that was in reLCS only. Anyway good luck! Great progress so far!

    great job frogbull pd you try use a memory adapter for the game can run better all elements ? i think dreamcast need more ram and storage for run more elements of the game

    I think heavy fog wouldn't be unreasonable to implement in this port, might help with masking the pop in?

    Add O Mio Babbino Caro to GTA 3 Dreamcast as it only appeared in PS2 port

      It’s not a port it’s definitely was developed on the Dreamcast first then cancelled used the same assets for the ps2.

    Well I support Gta 3 project on Dreamcast with all my heart. There I see is 2 problems: 1) original DC cotroller doesnt have enough buttons (minus two or three compared to ps2); 2)Graphics should be redused a bit and increased draw distance, and make game at least playible at 20-30 fps, Gta 3 pushes Dreamcast to the limit. I dont know if somebody hear me from developers, hope so my opinion to be heard.

    If this was done, is Vice City possible on it? I think San Andreas is too much to handle for it.

      Vice City yes imo. San Andreas nope, too massive even for PS2 (it pushed the hardware to the limits, maybe polygon models for characters not but the rest of environments are too big for 16 MB of RAM and 7-10 million of polygons peak of dreamcast)

      Vice City has a smaller map, but the PS2 port is unoptimised, and causes frame drops here and there. This would be the first issue to solve. Tbh PC port isnt great as well, nowadays it May play excellent, but we do have much more powerful pcs.
      Plus Im not so sure about handling the flying. Both in terms of controls and map rendering. GTA3 "had" an option to fly around, but we all know, that most people wont bother.
      In general Vice City is based off the modified renderware, that was used by Rockstar for their other PS2 games like Warriors, Manhunt, Bully and so on. Liberty City Stories also bases on VC engine. Getting this to work would open up loads of possibilities. Not saying all those games would run on DC though.
      As for San Andreas, it is almost too much for PS2 anyway. No use to even point out all the tricks devs used to get it running. This would have to be hugely stripped down, and nobody would want it, since fans love San Andreas for what it is.

    Hopefully some other team can make a GameCube port of GTA III and Vice City, so we can complete the 6th gen quadrilogy!

    I know that this is still early stages, but if this framerate persist, switchback to the pc models since they draw less geometry

      Probably just like LCS works on PSP. It has identical amount of buttons, and a single analog

      Yes, there has been a 32mb RAM mod for a few years now, and even YZB modified quite a few games to take advantage of modified consoles with more RAM. So it actually is kind of worth it to do the mod especially for running modified games, homebrew and emulators that would utilize it. That with an overclock mod would work great in concert with each other to really beef up the system. Search "Dreamcast 32mb RAM mod" for more info.

      Looks like its running on emulator by now. And only its playable with 32 MB of RAM DC mod...

    When i build CD image in DreamSDK, at the end I get an error:

    can anyone help me?

      the error message indicates there's something wrong with the 1st_read.bin file in the folder gra3, it cannot find either the file or the folder in the specified path, make sure that folder or file is in the right directory
