I’m so flattered. 😉😂 Oh my gosh I was a lover of Navy but my “signature” fragrance though was Exclamation (also by Coty). Well that and Loves Baby Soft of course. I’m going to have to pick up a bottle of Exclamation to see if I still love it. I wonder if maybe your profession has helped educate your nose so you smell some of the florals a little bit more in some of these…so interesting.
Could be. It's so interesting how you can smell some of the different notes at different stages of life. You MUST get some Exclamation and let me know if you still love it! That one was good... but I could only wear it sparingly back in the day. She's a POWERHOUSE lol!
Yup! A popular STRONG choice lol. You could smell Sunflowers from 3 rooms away. I know that was how I wanted my perfumes to be lol. The stronger the better haha!
I graduated in 1989 and these scents were my going out in the 90s scents. I loved Vanilla Fields, Fire and Ice, Navy and also Aspen and Incognito. I always loved fragrance and all the fashion magazines...Cosmo, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Harper's Bazaar...since I was like 10...learned a lot lol! This was great!
Fun video! I was a late 80's gal. My signature scent was Anne Klein II, completely forgot about until this video :) After that I really loved Lancome Magnifque but they discontinued it! Found it on Amazon for $400 (what??) I think I lean toward warm spicy, rose scents. It was fun looking up the notes so I could try and find a replacement. My mom.. oh my gosh I remember always buying her Moon Drops for Christmas
Hello from Otis Orchards, WA! What a fun video Melanie! When I was in elementary school, I remember Electric Youth being all the rage. But my favorites in high school were Vanilla Musk and Sand and Sable... loved those! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Yes!!! I was so excited to see this video pop up! I too, am drawn to amber, vanilla, musk, patchouli (minus the BO note). I remember ALL of these fragrances! I remember that half our class wore Navy, but there was this kid that sat behind me in English class that always made these audible sniffing noises which drove me nuts. I turned around one day and offered him a Kleenex, which he declined. He said he just liked my perfume. I was like, “umm…thanks, but could you enjoy it more quietly?” He told me he would try. From time to time I would have to turn around and say, “dude…” and he would be like, “oops - sorry,” and he’d stop with the loud sniffing for a while. Lol.
Omg I love this video. Love Vanilla Musk. Fire & Ice was my jam, I used it all the way through my 20s now I want to revisit it 😂. Some later 90s faves were Clinique Happy (still a staple), Fetish (I think? It had this swirly plastic cap?), Candies for her. These may have been 00s but still scents I wear regularly are Still J.Lo, CK Contradiction, and Amor Amor. Random but so so good!!
Oh I LOVED Happy as well! I received a big bottle when I was in high school, I think junior or senior year and I was so excited about my first fancy lady expensive perfume lol. I think I kissed my mom haha! I actually loved Amour Amour in the early 2000's as well. It's super sweet from what I recall.
Love your memories!! So cute. 83 baby here and I still wear Ralph by Ralph Lauren (which came out my junior year of high school) and people comment all the time when they recognize it! Of course I didn’t start wearing it until after college bc I couldn’t afford it back in 2000!! I was a coolwater girl back then!! Lol 😂
This was such a fun video! The 90s perfumes of my choice was Colors and Jovon Musk. And I had a subscription to Cosmo and wanted to be so sophisticated like the models in George Michael Freedom 90 video 😂 Loved seeing the pups too!
This was a fun topic! My favorite cologne was from the 80s and it was Ralph Lauren's Tuxedo. I don't know if anyone else wore it or remembers it. I wish I had a bottle now just to bring back all the memories!
My favorites were Sand & Sable, Listen by Herb Alpert, Red Door by Elizabeth Arden, Giorgio Beverly Hills, and Lauren (obviously from Ralph Lauren lol)
What a great trip down Memory Lane! My favorite 90s fragrance came out later in the decade, Noa by Cacheral. Wore it every single day. I was thrilled to find it recently at a perfume shop in my local mall. Reunited and it feels so good!
One of my favorites is Still by Jennifer Lopez. My Grandma baught it for me one year and my Husband loved it on me so I wore it for our wedding day. Every time i smell it, it takes me back.
This idea is so much fun. I was just a few years into my first career, working long hours largely behind a desk and eating Pepperidge Farm Goldfish for at least one meal of my day (readily available in the breakroom). I missed most the fragrances you mentioned, but I always love hearing you describe scents -- my nose is not as gifted as yours is!
I’m only 26 but my mom wore Vanilla Fields and CK One and Eternity now I want to get those to have in my collection. There was also a pear scent and vanilla she had in body fantasies in the old packaging
My comment has little to do with perfume but I just had to say, your hair in the thumbnail is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Also, I hope you will do a yearly favorites in makeup!
I liked Obsession from back in the day, Giorgio spray was my moms fave and will be looking for that one in stores come to think of it, used to it was like 1.50 in the little spray lol not anymore lol! Gotta love all those memories though! I’m a 90’s girl too 💕 loved teen beat magazine had to catch all the guys from that magazine lol, Leo Dicaprio, johnny depp among some others also hehe!
OMG totally had the Liz Claiborne triangle!! Also remember having baby soft, and Clinique happy. But absolutely loved amber scents and warm amber from Victoria’s Secret was my jam . I think that was the late 90s… it all runs together 😂😂
So good! I LOVED clinique happy too! I got a bottle of it my senior year for christmas and it made me so.... happy lol. I think that was my first higher end perfume gift and I coveted it lol. So special to me.
What a lovely look back at perfume. Scent is the nearest thing to time travel! It unlocks memory. I still remember my first perfume- PrettyPeach by Avon, aged 8. I’m 65 and whenever I sniff Estée Lauder skincare - the face cream in the aqua jar specifically- it smells just like that. I doubt the Lauder company intended it but it’s the nearest thing and brings back happiness being 8 and having my own scent.
When I was growing up My cousins worked in a department store ;one worked at the Liz Claiborne counter the other at the Lancôme counter. They got makeup and perfume ALL the time. They gave me the Liz Claiborne you referred to ( love that one, pity they don’t make it anymore) Poison, and all the expensive ones. They also gave me makeup. But I also loved Vanilla Fields, Navy, ck1, and there was some roll on perfume I got from Crown Drugstore back in 1987 that smelled like the sweetest prettiest lavender ever.... can’t remember the name of it, still on the hunt for that one. So funny about your “Brad” story. Quite ironic. I consider myself a nerd too in school too and there was a Brad in my class ( one of the “ cool” guys) and one day he said the same thing that your Brad said “ You smell good”. And I went and giggled about to my friends What was it about Brad!!? 🤔😂
Brads... so hot lol!!!! Must be the name haha! I sometimes actually wonder what he looks like now lol. Oh man, I was awkard as all get out as a teen. My terrible perm that only half took in middle school probably preclude me from any boyfriends as it was atrocious lol!
Great video! I still wear my favorite 90ies perfumes from time to time. Rapture from Victoria Secret is my all time favorite and I wore it when I was dating my husband and he recognizes it out of my hundreds of perfumes “you smell like you did in high school” 😂🤣
I am the same way, I love scent. My husband and kids know if they are going to get me anything get me perfume, candles, tarts, wallflowers or room sprays. Anything to make me or my house smell amazing is what I want.
My mother wore Fire & Ice a lot. I remember one Christmas my husband got me Exclamation and a Liz Claiborne purse, he got from Jordan Marsh, for Christmas. Dating as teens, It was Giorgio and Giorgio Red. The body spray dupes they still sell in CVS, Primo & A Little Sexy give me major scent memory. I should grab the old Avon ones we all wore from Amazon...Odyssey, Sweet Honesty and Imari, to smell them now.
Oh my goodness that was so fun to watch! NOSTALGIA! I turned 13 in 1990 and remember almost all of these perfumes. For some reason I don’t remember Revlon Fire and Ice. Vanilla Fields was what my mom wore all the time - I’m going to order that one because of the wonderful scent memory. Poison and Exclamation (I think that’s what it was called) were my JAM during my teenage years 😂 I hope you do one of these videos again down the road. So fun!
Thanks for sharing!! Those are great! I do remember Sunflowers. A true POWERHOUSE scent lol. Sunflowers and Exclamation entered the room about 10 minutes before you did lol! And that was how I prefered to wear my perfumes back then lol.
My early 20s in early 2000s, Basic Instinct from VS, Givenchy Hot Couture, Ralph Lauren Woman, Lancome Pop Connexion collection, Ralph Lauren Blue, Japanese Ban Deodorant spray and Christian Dior Poison
I’m a longggg time fragrance fiend, same as you Melanie! I was born in ‘75 so I remember all these and my mom wore White Diamonds. I got Exclamation for Christmas I believe my junior year of HS. My grandmom, mom, and aunties were huge Avon perfume wearers too. We literally lubbed up with SSS after baths every night lolol! My first scent purchase with my own money after I graduated in 1993 was Poison. I also really loved the round scented body powder puffs.
I love perfume so much. The Liz Claiborne was one of my favorites along with Clinique Aromatics, and Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door. Lost Cherry is my new obsession. Have you tried Dossier?
Aw, Melanie! I love this and have enjoyed this video so much. I also really enjoyed your videos about 90s fragrances this summer, so this was a great continuation of all of that! In the 90s, my best friend wore exclamation! while I was in love with Bijan! Remember that? The round, thick glass bottle with the hole in the middle? Haha. I loved it so much. You’ve inspired me to see if I can find it again. Love it! Thank you. ❤️💕
Leffleur by Coty is my hands down favorite. I still have a tiny bit left. I’ve never found anything else that smells like it. And the original Dune by Christian Dior. The reformulation is a pathetic shadow of its former glory! 😭
I love vanilla fields (I found a tiny one for $4 at Dollarama) and I loved Navy. I just found it online for a 44 ml for $33 Canadian. I hope i love it as much as I did then 😝 I also bought White Diamonds as a blind buy, and I love it. It was what my grandmother wore , and I recognized it right away when I first smelled it. I used to smell it in her all the time , and I never realized what it was until I smelled it now, years later. I also love and have a bunch of the white diamonds flankers 👍🏻
Just discovered you. I love your video and the dogs.No need to apologize .I know this has nothing to do with fragrances but I am going grey and love your Hair. Some tipps for haicare when grey would be great😊
Hello! Thank you so much for being here! I actually have a number of gray hair related videos here on my channel. I decided to go gray almost 10 years ago now and I LOVE it! Honestly the best decision I have ever made! But I will be sharing more gray hair content in the future for sure!
This was so much fun to watch🤗 Talk about walking down perfume memory lane! I loved Navy and Vanilla Fields. Also Shalimar was beautiful!!! 🥰 I also liked Jovan musk remember that? Thanks for this video💗
Shalimar is so so pretty! I wish Guerlain would go CF so I could buy it. I do remember Jovan Musk! But it was not quite sweet enough for me lol. Not that this stopped my grandma from buying it for me every christmas at Rite Aid lol!!!!! I loved her for it
What an awesome video! I was born in 1981 so the 90s are near and dear to my heart too. And they were when I first discovered I loved fragrance. Navy is such a nostalgic scent for me. For one of my birthdays, my parents got me my first caboodle and makeup palette/kit. The palette came with a small bottle of Navy and it was so strong I could immediately smell it without ever opening the bottle. I saved it, and every once in a while I pull it out for a sniff and I'm taken straight back to that day. I also owned Fire and Ice, although I was never really crazy about it and only wanted it because of the name. And then there was Sun, Moon, Stars from Karl Lagerfeld which I really only wanted because I went through a period of collecting things based around outer space. lol
The joy of getting a caboodle cannot be eclipsed. I remember mine.... HOT PINK! And I had it for YEARS! I also really liked Sun Moon and Stars. It was very mature but I LOVED it!
I had a sample of tresor in my locker in middle school. Also remember sunflowers and that stuff in the pink bottle that smelled like baby powder was everywhere ...loves baby soft. I bought knowing because my grandmother wore it. I still have a rose oil fragrance I got in middle school from an occult bookstore my older sister bought me. Surprisingly, it still smells like a light and fresh rose.
I have a nearly full bottle of Fire and Ice, I bought another one quite a while back. My original I bought in 1994 and just only finished it a few years ago. I also have 2 mini bottles of Navy, I would like to finish one of those this year. Another favorite from the early 2000s was Revlon's Absolutely Fabulous. It wasn't around long either. I also have the original Liz Claiborne that I wore a lot in the late 80s on. I more or less prefer body sprays now but want to revisit these perfumes and see what I can use up. Oh...and another favorite that I still wear today is Skin Musk from Bonne Bell. I will probably continue to wear that one as long as it's still available. One of my all time favorites. Fun topic!
I saw that Liz Claiborne triangle at TJMaxx or Marshall’s about a year ago. That was TOTALLY my scent in high school, so I was super excited to find it there. Didn’t buy it because I snuck a spritz of it and HATED it! My dad always said it smelled like Raid to him (which I never understood), but when I smelled it as an adult I suddenly understood what he meant. It was straight up Raid! Oh well!
Oh I LOVED Cool Water in college! I was an RA and my first year we were given these boxes for our residents that contained some essentials like really nice deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush etc... AND had a HUGE sample of Cool Water lol. I gave each resident 2 boxes and still had a TON of boxes left over that no one wanted to so I had enough Cool Water to last me till senior year lol. I did hand out toothbrushes and toothpaste to friends for a few years after haha!
I remember using loves baby soft or just letting my shampoo be my "scent" because that was pretty much the only thing my mom let me have 🤷🏻♀️. I also had horrible migraines and most fragrances were triggers for me 😞. Although, I had a boyfriend in high school that wore Obsession and I think I dated him simply because he always smelled so good lol!
@@MrKongsMom I empathize with you! Mine are mostly hormonal too but I still have food and scent triggers 🙄🤦🏻♀️. The "good" thing is that when we hit menopause, the migraines should at least slow down if not completely stop 🙏🏻🤞🏻👏🏻😬😂
It is a bummer. I def went out of my no cruelty free buy for these. But I have hope for Coty. They own CoverGirl as well and they are now certified cruelty free. I think these brands are all going to come around soon.
@@MrKongsMom Yes!! I’m always checking on my fave cruelty free websites to see who could be making the move. With China making the changes it’s supposed to be, it will be amazing to have so much open up. Hoping 2022 is the year! 🤞
In the 80s (college years ‘86-90), I wore Paloma Picasso perfume - a “woodsy floral.” Gorgeous bottle but looking back, the scent was way too mature and strong for a college girl. A boyfriend at the time gave me Taboo (I think Coty made it) as a Christmas gift, another mature lady scent - was I giving off a vibe? Then in the 90s, I was all about the Liz Claiborne scent in the iconic yellow triangle :-). P.s. I love carnations too :-)
Kind of off topic.....have you ever tried the Madagascar Vanilla perfume oil from Nest?? I'm dying to try it but I hate to spend that kind of money blindly.
Ok so I bought a sampler of all the scents... they ALL smell amazing. Perfection scent wise, especially vanilla. Its slightly more earthy than sweet tho. It's really lovely! BUT, I cannot get these to last on me unfortunately. They disappear very quickly on my skin. I am not sure if it's my body chemistry but I wish they stayed put like her regular perfumes. See if you can try a sample....
Hey! I’m getting ready to change up my skincare products and would like your opinion on what products I should get. I have combination skin and sometimes I break out with large pores. What items would you recommend. I can spend around 200.00. Thank you!
I would say check out Paula's Choice Niacinamide for sure (I love their 20% but might be good to start at 10%). That will help your pores. And their 2% BHA exfoliant (use at night because it has a slightly oily texture). This could help calm the occasional breakouts. I used their 9% BHA because it cleared up my blackheads so incredibly well but that may be too much for you. Cleansers just make sure you get something somewhat gentle. PC makes a great cleanser as well in their skin balancing line. I always suggest PC as a starting place because they changed my skin so much when I first started out with my skincare journey. No fragrance which I know a lot of people prefer and the formulas are wonderful and gentle. Make sure you get an SPF. I used the PC Resist SPF 30 almost every day. Great for those of us with an oilier skin. Also, if you can, get on Tretinoin. This will help you long term. Your dermatologist or possibly primary care can get you set up with a prescription. Tret is a great long term must have for skin. Fixes a lot of issues with texture, wrinkles, pores, breakouts etc...
I loved Navy. Used it all the time. The Navy that I had only said “Navy”. Yours says, “Navy For Women” 🤔 The bottle is the same. As for Liz Claiborne … I have it in my hand. 😁 I still use it. I use to like the Avon fragrances too. One of them was called Sweet Honesty.
I’m so flattered. 😉😂
Oh my gosh I was a lover of Navy but my “signature” fragrance though was Exclamation (also by Coty). Well that and Loves Baby Soft of course. I was born in 68/ 80’s girl here. Loved this video. I have collected perfume since I’m 12 😜
That is awesome!
Loved this video! The nostalgia in perfumery is what always keeps my love for this stuff going. Would love to see a collection video at some point 💙

I love perfume so much. The Liz Claiborne was one of my favorites along with Clinique Aromatics, and Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door. Lost Cherry is my new obsession. Have you tried Dossier?
YES! I LOVE Dossier! I am actually an ambassador for them
Aw, Melanie! Love it! Thank you. ❤️💕
I do remember Bijou! I LOVED the bottle lol. Let me know if you come across it and if you still feel the same way!
@@MrKongsMom haha! I totally will. Thanks, again. Hey: happy first day of holidays! 💕🎄
I hope i love it as much as I did then 😝
I also bought White Diamonds as a blind buy, and I love it.
@@MrKongsMom You are so right! And I still have that caboodle. Mine is pink on the bottom and purple on the top.
YES! Loves Baby Soft!
I am a few years younger than you, but I wore Clinique happy in middle school and Cool water in high school. I also dabbled in Tommy girl.
I was a Curve, Obsession, Eternity, girl
I actually had carnations in my wedding arrangements, along with roses.
Fun topic!
It's fun to take a trip down fragrance memory lane! Thanks for joining me!
Estee Lauder Cinnabar. It doesn"t smell like it use to to me It's lost it's depth but I wore it and used the body cream in the 70s, 80s and early 90s.
Fire and Ice was one of my faves! Cool going down memory lane with ya.
So fun to do every now and then!
Oh well!
REALLY??? Ok I might be on the hunt now. But I bet it's SUPER old stock lol! I feel like I would still like it. But then again tastes do change.
Show more of the pug! Pugs are the BEST!!!
Aren't they great??? I love my little clowns!
My favorite was Cool Water. I still have a little and wear it every so often.
Oh I was a migraine girl too. Still am actually. BUT luckily for me scent has never been a trigger. Mine are hormonal. Which also sucks haha!
Fire and Ice ❤ and Lucky You
Loves baby soft, soft musk from Avon an touche my favorite lol nice to go back thank you🥰🥰🥰
You’re welcome 😊 It's so fun to take a trip down memory lane!
My favorite perfumes are Sand & Sable, Design, White Linen, Liz Claiborne goodness there's so many 😂
It was a good time for perfume indeed!
I think Walmart still has a couple of these OG perfumes in their perfume case. 😁
Amazing! They must stick around for future generations to also enjoy.
It’s such a bummer Coty isn’t cruelty free. They own some of the most nostalgic fragrances to me 😏
It is a bummer.
P.s. I love carnations too :-)
Carns so get a bad rap lol. They are lovely! I so wish I could have found the Liz Claiborne. I think I'd actually still love it!
Thank you! I definitely Trisha your recommendations!
Fire and ice was my scent!!! I still have 2 bottles in my bathroom 😊
Love that!
I was all about Gap Dream and CK Be
Ohh and Bath and Body Works Sheer Freesia. They've changed it but it's not THAT different.
ck1 always
CK1 is heavenly still. I had at least one bottle of that as well. And its still around!
@@MrKongsMom i loove it
I used to use CK1❣️
This was fun . Thank you
I liked incognito, navy, and I loved Far Away from Avon!
Also CK One, and Amarige by Givenchy
Oh I loved Far Away as well! Very unique scent. Almost hard to explain!
Paris by YSL :D
I recently ordered a bottle of Exclamation. I was like what did I ever like about this fragrance?? 😂
Haha! Exclamation is a powerhouse in terms of strength lol. It's intense. And very unique. I don't like it anymore either.
You are so pretty!
Oh thank you! That is very kind!
Oh an fire an ice lol
Who remembers Incognito?
I do!!!! It was wonderful! Thanks for that flashback!
Exclamation!! Teen perfume :)
Excellent choice!
Bodman on the list?! 😂
Not for this broad lol! Designer Imposters for me!
I remember Sweet Honesty!
Opium
Yes memories, just like candle scents trigger.
My daughter wore Lauren,I loved it on her.
Omg,Opium came out in 1977,I'm so old!!
I still use Opium and Black Opium 🥰
Opium is a GORGEOUS scent! I LOVE the heavy one's myself!
