Dude, the 6.2 engine is pure muscle. Turbo chargers come with parasitic drawbacks. Theres no replacement for displacement. Mercedes have been in the muscle car game a long time, ive drove fast cars, even turbo'd hot hatches and the mercedes 63 is an animal.
True that, due to the i-drive button and therefore the bare cabin bmw lost some customers to audi and such a few years ago, but the new interiors set them apart. Had a look at the newest merc's too but the cabin is just so ermmm normal compared to the big bmw's.

Another great video from Chris. I am considering buying an E63 AMG S model and fortnight ago, my dealer kindly loaned me one for a few days. I can vouch for every comment Chris makes - it is crazy fast and I liked it, but if I'm honest, it left me a bit underwhelmed. Its has lots and lots of power, but opportunities to use that on UK roads is rare…this is one long-legged customer and sooner rather than later, you WILL run out of road, as I did. Then there's the sound - Merc makes a lot of this 'Sound With Power' marketing, but the car IS quiet. Sounds great on tick over, but its very quiet as you rev it harder, which is a byproduct of the turbos. What I'm comparing it to is my 2012 C63 AMG owned from new and a turbo engine is never going to be as vocal as a non turbo, so in that respect, the E is nowhere near the same league as the C with its snarly normally aspirated V8. So thats a dilemma - do I go for the 585bhp with its quiet express-train performance but with little opportunity to use it on UK roads, or do I stick with my C63, which at 487bhp, is a bit behind the E, but has more than enough power to enjoy, but also has that frankly incredible drag-racer sound track…….maybe not such a dilemma!

In all the tests I've watched on here where the M5 and M6 have been pitted against a Jag XF-RS, Merc E63 AMG, Panamera S etc in a grad race, the BMW's have won every time. I think it's astonishing.
and still I'd buy a Panamera or E63 over the M6... With the M5, it's probably going to be different story, but the Panamera gives a bit different presence since it is more exclusive than normal 5/6 series/E-class...
Finally a video that definitively shows me, the viewer, that BMW has still got it. Looks the best, makes the best use of its engine and thrills the way BMW's always have. Kudos to BMW and kudos to Chris Harris for this amazing video.

If only I could get the Merc engine, suspension and steering rack in the M6 Gran Coupe. All brilliant cars though. What an age we live in to witness family four-door cars with MORE power than a Ferrari 458. What an age indeed.
We did have them before, yes, but now we have a monumental lineup of cars that can munch the 458, in power terms. Also, mind you, that the power outputs are also much more impressive than they were. The E63 AMG, M6, RS7, S8, M5, XF-RS, CLS63 AMG, and the new, upcoming Cadillac CTS-V, all have more than 570 BHP. That, to me, is incredible.

Chris, BMW is known for heavily underrating their powertrains. People who put the M5/M6 engines on a dyno got very close to 600+hp/PS, and not the "official" 560PS.
Probably so that when they release the next generation M5 in a few years they can say that it has 600hp with a "new" tweaked engine. The fact that the competition pack enables 575hp, it wouldn't surprise me if it has 600+hp anyway, but has been toned down a bit. I guess they need to leave a bit of leeway for the next generation, because I don't know how they could make this engine any more perfect!
You forget that the BMW has a twin-clutch transmission, while the Merc still uses a wet-clutch which may sap more power than the Bimmer's transmission. Once Merc goes to a twin-clutch, it may see better 0-60 times.

I've always loved E63 AMG over the M5 or any equivalent level saloons but this video has made me uncertain now, the M6 GC looks really good.
First of all the m6 gran coup should be reviewed with the cls 63, it should be the f10 m5 in its place here

If only I could get the Merc engine, suspension and steering rack in the M6 Gran Coupe. All brilliant cars though. What an age we live in to witness family four-door cars with MORE power than a Ferrari 458. What an age indeed.
Fair enough, but the previous M5 had more power than the F430 and the E39 M5 had the same power as a 360 Modena.
We did have them before, yes, but now we have a monumental lineup of cars that can munch the 458, in power terms. Also, mind you, that the power outputs are also much more impressive than they were. The E63 AMG, M6, RS7, S8, M5, XF-RS, CLS63 AMG, and the new, upcoming Cadillac CTS-V, all have more than 570 BHP. That, to me, is incredible.

Chris, BMW is known for heavily underrating their powertrains. People who put the M5/M6 engines on a dyno got very close to 600+hp/PS, and not the "official" 560PS.
Probably so that when they release the next generation M5 in a few years they can say that it has 600hp with a "new" tweaked engine. The fact that the competition pack enables 575hp, it wouldn't surprise me if it has 600+hp anyway, but has been toned down a bit. I guess they need to leave a bit of leeway for the next generation, because I don't know how they could make this engine any more perfect!
The E63 S puts down 676hp. It's grossly underrated from the factory.

So by your logic (and judging from the video) the BMW makes about 700hp?
It has 560 hp in the worst conditions(heat/humidity/poor fuel). In optimal conditions probably close to 600.

From these cars BMW is heavier and has less HP than Mercedes but the winner is BMW because of it's optimally designed engines. BMW forever!!!
You forget that the BMW has a twin-clutch transmission, while the Merc still uses a wet-clutch which may sap more power than the Bimmer's transmission. Once Merc goes to a twin-clutch, it may see better 0-60 times.
These engines put out anywhere between 600-680bhp standard when on a dyno. Bmw underrated the factory numbers a fair bit.

Paul Optional Siegfried can't deny that. although Chris has debunked the myth that a Quattro with torque vectoring sport diff can't oversteer. Do a search for his DR video oversteering an S4 Avant with a sport diff. Still not nearly as "bonkers" as a RWD drifting for sure.
