This is one of the best pieces C&D have made yet. It reminds me of what I liked best about the Japanese Best Motoring series -- they always track-tested the cars in a 5-lap battle, with real racing drivers, and provided the best commentary on how their car was feeling during the race, and the differences they saw in the other cars they were racing. This formula is everything I want from a show aimed at enthusiasts.
I had the pleasure of driving an M6 a month ago and i was just blown away by how quick it was!
You know, the best thing for an automotive channel to do, is to keep in touch with the viewers. That's exactly what C&D does. That way we feel more involved (and we are) and everyone is happy! Thank you Car and Driver for answering our questions, no matter how lame thay might sometimes be :)
First time I’ve seen the M6 beat the M5 in a drag race... Also why does the M6 have to be a 911 and R8 competitor? To me it’s more of an S-Class coupe, Aston Martin DB9, or Bentley GT competitor, and compared to those it’s a bargain and a lot more fun.
Not the first time I've seen it. Lighter, same power. It should win.
@@johnulmer1622 Yeah exactly which is why I’m always surprised to see it lose to the M5. It seems like most drag races I see online between a stock M5 & M6 the M5 edges it for some reason. Carwow drag race being the most infamous example with the M6 losing to both the M5 & M4.
@@sonnyblack0870 that was a poorly done video by an overrated show. They were too focused on the M2 to address what was going on. The M6 lost the standing start, because it's driver was very late. In the roll, it easily pulled ahead.
some just struggle to get good traction with the M6, MotorTrend got an 11.9 from the M5 and a 12.1 from the M6
That's why bmw is the best in sports cars...wow..M6 all day..

Awesome video. I love the shot of the tach in the M6 during the gear changes. It gives a real sense of the violence of the shifts.

The M6 us my dream car, its affordable if you have the job that pays well, but the Lamborghini Aventador is my ULTIMATE dream car but definitely not affordable

+MikeyonPC the m6 has those headlights from the old generation bmws, the new generation x5 x6 7 series 3 series, they all have headlights that are connected to the grill, if u buy the m6 that's out right now it will look old compare to newer bmws
+Club Bmw Amg What the fuck are you talking about? The M6s, the B6/B7 & the 7 series have the most advanced headlights in BMW right now.. The only car that is outdated is the 5 series, including the M5.

Great video guys!! I drove the new M5, my uncle bought one last July, but with the 6 speed manual. It's a blast to drive, but I do noticed the understeer. In fact I think my 2012 Boss 302 is more fun to push hard but can't macth the comfort level of the M5.I would love to have a chance to drive the M6 coupe, it seems to be the best of both world, unfortunatly it's to expensive for me. I will have to stick with my 40K Boss

Beautiful track and the surroundings too! M6 is the nicer car of the two, however, the practical guy in me says that for another 20 grand one could exceed M6's performance in the M5. Glad why have the choice, at least in theory. :)
The M6 is my fav M car of all time. And this one simply delivers. Ya the M5 is much more sleeper (and cheaper) but I think the M6 is the sexiest car alive IMO.

Nice review!personally if i had the money the M5 would be my choice by far,i always liked this car cause its like the bad mafia guy car,in black with tinted window,the luxury sedan that dosen't look intimidating but can chase down fast sport car with ease,plus it look classy and badass at the same time.
The lap time for both sector 1 & 2 was switched, LOL.
My uncle just bought the n/a v10 version of the m6 last year, already ordered a supercharger kit for it.
Is that the same Andy Wallace who drove the Mclaren F1 to 391 kph? Man he's old now, time flies :P

I saw one on the road in the DC area, early Sunday morning drive. He got me pretty good on the line... and I drive an e90 m3. It is one of those cars that looks so much better in person.

It's one of the top cars in its class and is just more practical as an every day driver and it's 10 grand less How many M6 drivers are actually going to take their car on the track?

@MrRadeon888 Lol, you got a source to back that up? It sounds amazing in person it's like an explosion mixed with a thunderstorm when you accelerate, there's so much exhaust noise it's crazy. And yes I've been in the V10 too they both sound good.

Bovingdon has been around for years, and was Chris Harris' colleague at evo so as far as I'm concerned the internet is big enough for the both of them and we should just be grateful there's 2 excellent car reviewers posting videos for us !

This is one very well done video! The juxtaposed, even intimate comparison between the M5 and the M6 almost gives me the feeling that I am behind the wheel of these two cars. That being said, I will take the M5 over the M6. I just love this super sedan!
