"Until" what if it never comes? Then it does make sense to compare the comp versions since they are essentially the highest level of the car. Comp/s was only made to give a slightly cheaper non comp/s car to the public. They weren't made to give slightly more power as BMW and Merc would sell you the 615bhp version of the m5 instead of the 590bhp version of it if they stopped doing the whole competition thing.

@Rosario Del Silva The size of the engine doesnt matter lol, what matters is the power the engine produces and the weight/drag of the car. The M8 is around half a second quicker to 100kmh

Raul Gsxr M8 should be compared more to the gt63 or the gt series cause an s class is more of a luxury car whereas the M8 is a typical sports car. Just my opinion

The SRT Hellcat Redeye’s 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 180 more horsepower (797 vs. 617) and 154 lbs.-ft. more torque (707 vs. 553) than the M8 Competition’s optional 4.4 turbo V8.
matt someone with an SRT if your only considering power and straight line speed, the SRT is the clear winner.
matt someone with an SRT what do you mean the M8’s ‘optional’ 4.4 V8? There is no option, that’s the only engine it comes with. As for a Redeye ‘destroying’ an M8 Comp, that’s simply not true either. The M8 seems to be able to pull a consistent 11sec 1/4 even on a cold surface. Some US publications are getting 11.3 for the Redeye. The best I’ve seen is a 10.8 on a properly sticky drag strip and drag tyres. So put the M8 completely in those same conditions and it could easily dip under 11. Power is nothing without traction and a modern gearbox.
It should be for £120k. For that money you could get better.
matt someone with an SRT how about you get off your stat sheet and get on the road. The AWD m8 would wipe the floor with the redeye. The only chance the redeye has on a pre stripped drag strip and even then the M8 prolly wins

@@brim5204 This 6.6 V12 is not strained at all, anyway it has plenty of torque so it even starts from 2nd gear. 760li is obviously NOT tuned to race as it's luxury limousine but it's engine has a lot of reserve, i guess you can easily tune it to get 700+hp/1knm. It would nicely fit M8 competition then. Guess it's not your typical daily car to take you from point A to B so if you wish to afford one, fuel efficiency is not your priority.

The reason the M5 short shifted @3:14 is because he didn't have everything in sport plus mode (as you can see). Only his engine was sport+, chassis was sport, steering comfort, and he was in 4WD and not 4WD Sport so of COURSE it's going to short shift. Translation: driver error caused the M5 to lose.
Also the throttle pedal has a “second push” you think it’s floored but push a bit harder and you’ll feel it press in a bit further

"It clearly says that the engine must me 1)hot enough(considering that’s done, despite the exhaust sound doesn’t sound like this)
2) provide gearbox at least 5min between launches to keep the temperature right for it for the optimal result.
3) hold the full throttle for 2-3 secs before launching to give time for the gearbox and engine to pair together and deliver optimal outcome."
@@JackHackett1 He hadn't even moved yet and he was half a car length behind. He blamed the one two shift for the bog. If you blame the car for bogging and you haven't even moved yet it can't be at the one two shift.
Great video as always Matt! Just FYI, the M5 Comp had the standard M performance brakes, whereas the M8 Comp had the optional Carbon Ceramics. Those probably also helped with acceleration due to the decrease in unsprung mass.

On the rolling start races, how come you didn’t use kick down mode? If you stomp the accelerator to the floor and hit the downshift paddle at the same time the car will take off like a rocket, not just lumber away like what is in the video.

You can clearly hear him shift early on the 2nd race, right after the start. I think it was either planned to make the m8 look faster to sell more m8s, cause they a little more expensive or this guy can't drive. Both cars should have the same 0-60 and they pushing almost the same horsepower.
I just can't stand when he says it was shortshift, when he clearly missed the gear or shifted too early.

On its cup 2 tires it’s already quicker than the m8 comp coupe around a track. On ps4 it was .2 slower than the coupe and its hundreds of pounds heavier. You bmw fans boys are nuts. Do you watch f1?
