Mat's sat in the most expensive Jaguar around - the XE SV Project 8! Limited to only 300 models, this almighty Jag is powered by a 5-litre supercharged V8 that can produce a 600hp & 700Nm of torque! As for the E63? Well it comes in almost 300kg heavier than the Jag, but thanks to the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, it can produce 612hp & 850Nm of torque!
So they're relatively even-matched, right? The question is, will the Jag prove its worth over the quarter-mile given it costs about £180,000 - a full £80,000 MORE than the E63! There's only one way to find out... LET'S RACE!

I think the Chiron would win with the awd traction in the drag race .But we all know what happens to cars that try to roll race against Konigsegge..They never win.I have yet to see an Agera r or any Agera for that matter lose in a roll race

I was wondering if anyone else noticed his sore loser mentality. There's that thing he does as well where in other videos, on the roll race, with the car's in automatic mode, you can clearly see the other car kick down first, but Mat literally always says his car kicked down first.

@@jordan219 That could be possible, but c'mon, don't change up the rules and results to make the race go in favor of you, when we, you, me, and the rest of his viewers see with our own eyes that it didn't happen that way. Most of the cars on his channel come from personal owners, so I honestly just think Mat is a sore loser, but hey, it's his channel, it's just becoming a little annoying and a lot more noticeable every video.

The reason the jag lost is because it was made for track only not for drag races the jag does a great job in the track and merc does a great job in drag race
Only if you go in a straight line for just one minute. On track and endspeed the jaguar wins easily
The fact the Mercedes picked up just as quick as the supercharged jag just goes to show what an amazing engine that 4 litre v8 is, absolute master piece.
There are way better 4 litre V8 out there but the AMG ones might be the best engines in "affordable" vehicles.

@@thereagan2001 I mean even the Ferrari engines in "regular" cars are imo better than the competition. I'm talking about the V6 in the Alfa romeo Giulia QF. Now that the Maserati ghibli Trofeo was released, I also think that the Ferrari V8 inside that car is a much more refined and overall better engine than the generic German V8s. Unfortunately Maserati is also not the cheapest, meaning it's not in the same price range as the V8 models from Mercedes, BMW and Audi. The only real affordable Ferrari engined car would be the Alfa but that is a V6 and we are talking about V8s, so I guess you are right, Mercedes makes the best "affordable" V8 cars

Carbon Ceramic brakes mean you can brake longer when they are hot! Stoping is because lots of factors, mostly weight, caliper size and grip!
If you test stopping like tgey did it doesn't really matter if the discs are steel or carbon!
true Legolas people hear carbon ceramic brakes and think they are going to be better at braking distance to normal but it not really only good thing is they will fare much better in brake fade so you can go round a track braking a lot with out the brakes overheating that is the only difference has a better cooler name but only means can last longer under intense braking with out failing.

Actually the Merc won the rolling race, it does not count to suddenly keep going until 186 mph when ALL OTHER VIDEOS stop long before that. So it's 3:1 for the Mercedes. BOOOH!

Ben Mayo the jaguar is also a production car and it lost to a merc 3/1 everybody knows that :) that merc is limited to 155mph like every car in germany, also you can pay extra so the limit is higher. And it would still be cheaper than the jag. Jaguar alawys made really really mediocre cars 🙂 none of them stood out. Maybe design wise but thats it, and it was also really expensive. A basic jaguar is basically a german fast sedan/sporst car without the performance and reputation of the germans and still expensive.🙂

It's pretty crazy that the brake test was that close when the jag is built for the track with weight savings and weighing 300kgs less.
Race brakes aren't really any more powerful, you're limited there by the friction surface (rotor diameter/pad size) but they will perform more consistently after repeated hard braking on track.

Mercedes makes some of the best brakes in the business. Having owned many brands, the Merc has always been the best performer for me.

My old man has one of the first XE S that came out in 2015 and Jag contacted him not long after the Project 8 was out to see if he wanted one at a big discount. Sadly he didn't for whatever reason. Rumour is they still haven't sold all of them, which was also one of the reasons they made 15 of the wingless (I forget what they called them) models.

But the biggest joke with this car was, that Jaguar has claimed it has a "Nürburgring Nordschleife record for "executive cars"... Hahahahahaha! An "executive car" without rear seats but a roll cage instead... Yeah, sure! LOL!
@Lee F I know that it's a track focused car and it did the Nürburgring lap time with the rear seats not in place, which is a record for a 4 door car, unlike how the Giulia QV and GT63 S did the lap. However, a lap with the touring pack, i.e. with the rear seats in place, would've added a bit more credibility, comparatively and most people would not have been able to point fingers at its lap time then.

It’s always gonna be difficult for a evenly matched supercharged car to out run a turbo car in the top end due to the parasitic loss of the supercharger. And with the advancements of turbos the lag is essentially gone.

To be honest German engineering now is one level higher than italian and british.
For the heavier car of the two, the merc took it on all levels!
Only 12hp difference but torque gets that weight moving and there's a huge discrepancy there. 516lb-ft vs 627lb-ft for the AMG. More than enough for the weight difference.

Well... not really. The Jag is more focussed for track use instat of dragraces. If you would put both on a racetrack the Jag would beat the AMG. because it's basically a racecar for the road.

The Project 8 is a track car, the Mercedes is an estate car with a big V8, the Project 8 is focused for cornering and track use so it needs more downforce, and that obviously hinders speed in a straight line. I don’t even like the Project 8 but this comparison and the race itself are just pointless they are cars from two completely different classes and with a different purpose.
I can. MB and Germans understate their car’s power and performances. Jaguar seem to do the opposite, and it always shows...

Even though I prefer the amg I have to say the jag won that. They were both not on their high speed. So the limiter is no excuse for the loss of the amg
“Definitely” is a strong word, the brake test was 1/2 car length difference considering the 4 fat chix weight difference in comparison...!!!
Besides the AMG is ECU restricted for terminal velocity.. But it does show you what you do end your money on and the difference you can have in choice of vehicles...
Do some fun old school Top Gear-esque style drag race. Something like budget used cars, take ten or more cars that all cost under $5k current budget and run them against each other. Just fun stuff.
There's gotta be an MPH limit for the drag races. The AMG was clearly slowing down. There's no way the Jag has that much top-end power to overtake the AMG at 160 MPH+.
AMG is limited to 155MPH without the drivers package, hence why it stopped accelerating at 161 on the speedo

Yvette Roach just because it has a supercharger doesn’t mean it has too end. If anything superchargers don’t excell at top end. They rely too much on the motors crankshaft. If anything a big turbo is better for top end

Yup, the Jag only overtoook the Merc that easily because the Merc has a top speed limiter. Without the limiter, the Merc will go up to 180mph (that is the listed top speed for the German version of the E63s T model). Technically, that means the Jag is the faster car (obviously, as we could see), but it would have been interestiing to see the race result with the "speed limiter removal" option box ticked on the Merc. My guess is the Jag would not have gone into the lead before the end of the runway.
