dometic definitely makes the best mini-fridge's for campers. if you really want handles that fit, using those holes to affix some rope handles would be pretty easy. Since it's part of the van there really isn't a need to ever move it.
smart thinking going with the chest model. you can transfer it to a future vehicle. I got a 65 qt for off grid cabin. led lights and these things are a big part of the off grid puzzle. .good move
Good fridge ! the cheaper Coleman is not a good fit for people that don't run hard. You need a quality fridge if you want to save fuel. Solar fridge is the way to go once you have your system going it will be awesome. I had to have a fridge I had a 53 ft trailer behind my truck and I had to park at the loading dock if I wanted to go to the store. Rare to find a parking spot for a truck. I have gone into the store and done my shopping with my truck at the loading dock but I ran in loaded the fridge with my food and beat feet out the door before I got caught. CONGRATS on that purchase MEGA SCORE you did well Sir.
+S. McCloy Thanks, Sean. I think I do have it in the coolest area, but insulating it as others have suggested could be a great way to save energy, especially during the day while I am at work.
Will Burson Summer I would bring it into work with me that way it was in climate controlled environment winter if it is below 72 leave it in the van with a window cracked.
+Will Burson yes every now then I do get a little of the sweating. Not enough to be a problem. Doesn't happen enough for me to notice what conditions cause it...such as the weather.
+Rolling Earth-Ship Well if you would kick that freeloading VanJones out of your van, you'd have room for the CF-110 ! haha I know he just lives in the basement, but that's valuable storage space…
+Will Burson; if I were to install such a unit in the basement that scoundrel would never leave. I'll find a way to make the van just a little bigger, then I'll install the CF 3000. And please don't tell me it can't be done, or that the unit doesn't exist. 😂😄👍🏻

Awesome Will! It is costly but, I'll have to have one after I install solar and batteries. I can just taste the cold beverages on those hot days of boondocking for extended periods!
You are going to love that fridge! That's the same one I have, I only use mine as a refrigerator and not a freezer but it will do both superbly. Without a doubt it's one of the best investments I have made for my van. Don't worry about the door with no gasket. It has not been an issue with mine as cold air doesn't rise and warm air doesn't sink unless it's forced. Just make sure you keep the vent clear so it can breath. Again, you are going to love that fridge! STAY FROSTY! LOL or is that another van dweller's motto? LOL
I posted and deleted a comment about a gasket, Looks like I was incorrect on that model seems there is no gasket. It may have been a larger unit I was thinking of or it could have been a different manufacturer. I was fairly certain that there was a gasket on a different model hopefully someone will chime in before I lose my mind totally. Glad you are moving up Will and hope you get good use from the chest. jman
+A Few Minutes With jman Hey, Jman. I am thinking that while I am at work I will cover the top and down around the "seam" edge of lid with cargo blanket as some folks suggested. Should insulate it a bit and help with its gasketlessness.
Will Burson They sell covers for the tops of those on Amazon. I am not sure if you watch +AdventureVanMan but Brian had made something out of reflectix that covers the lid, seems to do the trick. May work a bit better then a cargo blanket but whatever works I suppose. Good luck and safe travels. jman
+Will Burson Will here's a link on amazon: www.amazon.com/WAECO-PROTECTIVE-COVER-CF-50/dp/B002OBLCUA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449014769&sr=8-1&keywords=dometic+cf50+cover Suppose to fit the dometic like a glove according to a review, jman
Also, I have read on sailboat blogs, that they put large blankets or foam pads over the freezer to cover it up and to provide it some additional insulation from the heat....just an idea for when your not on shore power. Also, you could get one of those remote digital thermometers and have two zones to see what the temperature actually is inside both sides without opening the unit. I have this in my RV frig and watch it all the time....
You want to keep it in the coolest part of the van remember you don't make cold you remove heat so the less heat it has to remove the more efficient it will be.
Hey Will, I took a quick look online and from what I can tell that 120v plug connector looks like a standard one from a desktop PC or a printer. They make those in a 90 angle, so you might be able to make that work for you. Stop in at a local computer shop and they might be able to hook you up for cheap..
hi I just subscribe to your channel I follow people who travel I got to you with the help of that guy who travel in the white astro van I can't remember his name lol.
+Terry Landis II am calculating that. I ran it dry all day at work yesterday. Was 10 hours I ran it at 28°F with no shore power. My first simple experiment is just to see how long it takes to top batteries with my super-slow charger after running it for a day from the batteries.

+HypnicJerk Thanks that's a great idea, but like you say I don't plan to move it

/It looks really nice good refrigerator freezer
+rv lucky Thanks Lucky!
Lol... it fits in the space where all your junk was in recent vid. Much better use of space. hehe. Lucky you; congrats!
+Day Drifter I agree! haha
It does have a gasket. It’s on the lid, next time you open the fridge, have a look at the Bottom side of the lid.
Thanks for watching
Nice. That will really improve quality of life.
+Dan Travels Yes I thin kI have kicked my pretzel and Clif bar addiction! haha
Awesome purchase Will. This is a lot better option than using a cooler with ice IMO... Especially when full timing.
+Z Shark Yeah, the ice was just too hard to keep up with
Dometic for the win!!!! :)
+AdventureVanMan Thanks, Brian! Yes did you ever have a problem with yours sweating?
+Will Burson yes every now then I do get a little of the sweating. Not enough to be a problem. Doesn't happen enough for me to notice what conditions cause it...such as the weather.
Very Nice!! I'm glad to see you went with the chest freezer! Really moving up in the world!!!
+James Watterson I am. Thanks, James!
Thanks again for this vid, I ordered one earlier tonight!
+Into The Mystery 13 Right on, man. Congrats--you're gonna love it!
:D
Nice fridge. Gonna be awesome when you get your solar going.
+Arkansas Mike I agree! Thanks, Mike
gotta say that's a nice fridge right there, vanilla sure coming together nice 😊👍
+Kaleb S. Thanks man!
Very nice! You'll be very happy with that unit. I wish I had the room for that one. 😄👍🏻🚐

Hey that's cool Will!.....Literally...enjoy refrigeration! Cheers

+Terry Landis Good advice as long as he leave the heat removal portion open to the air so it can discard the heat.
+Terry Landis That's a great idea, Terry. I am thinking a cargo blanket would be great folded over top while I am at work.

Thanks! Can I make the smaller part the freezer and the larger compartment the fridge (opposite of what u did)?
Not the small compartment will always be a little warmer than main area.

+johnqglass Thanks, John! I appreciate that
I set my ARB at 17'f It keeps everything in the deep end frozen solid but nothing in the top section freezes.
+Dennis Steele Thanks, Dennis!
hi I just subscribe to your channel I follow people who travel I got to you with the help of that guy who travel in the white astro van I can't remember his name lol.
+lets go eagles I think you're talking about Into The Mystery 13. Thanks for watching!
did you ever get the problem resolved with your refrigerator ?
yeah it was all good when i sold van last year
hey man, could you tell me the height of this with the lid fully open? thank you
Sorry don;t have it any more. Sold van.
What are your thoughts on it now that you've had it for a week or so?
+Into The Mystery 13 I like it man. It sweats some, and I am wondering if cover would help with that.
Interesting. Thanks for getting back to me. I think one of these is in my future.
Into The Mystery 13 You really can't go wrong. I will have another review before long with more info. Really no issues…
+Will Burson Awesome thanks man
any idea how much it draws? Can you use it while dry camping and once you have solar, be able to keep up with the demand?
+Terry Landis II am calculating that. I ran it dry all day at work yesterday. Was 10 hours I ran it at 28°F with no shore power. My first simple experiment is just to see how long it takes to top batteries with my super-slow charger after running it for a day from the batteries.
I run my freezer colder when it's hotter outside and when I have a huge bottle of milk I want to stay drinkable beyond it's shelf date.
👍
OMG I so need one. How many amps does it pull? PS: I have NO SELF CONTROL WITH DATES. Eat the wholeee thing each time. Ugh.
I don;t remember; sorry. Have sold van and contents. Sorry for slow reply.
