Yay... now if I could just be brave enough to trust someone to cut two holes in my roof. Thanks so much for finally doing this clip on the fans. Saved me from buying the "upgrade" one. Later!
$120 isn't bad at all for labor if they are willing to install a fan that you provide. I would ask before buying it, but if they go for it you could buy fan online and have them install it for under $300 total. Even if they charge you close to $200 I think that is a fair price. I paid much more to have my first one installed!
agreed. crazy as it seems, I wish I could mount one on the back door, driver side, away from exhaust pipe, above the rear window. haven't seen anyone else do that tho', to get input on practicality. just rather do door than roof. I already have to deal with 9 foot height of high roof... don't even want to add 2-3 inches more up there. We will see... thanks for advice.
You have that much room above window? I don't see why you couldn't. Depending on size of window you could remove the window and use the window opening like folks do with the window ACs units. I am sure you've seen that type of AC install. Then you wouldn't need to cut any holes--just fill in around the fan housing. Surely your window is bigger than 14" x 14"…
Double Bubble idea is a Fantastic idea and the windows idea not opening is good to did you plan it that way?, thanks for inspiring me to get one, although I want to get a back bumper guard and front, the more tweeks the higher the cost Thank you for being informative and stealthy
ben shafer I did. I also have the wire security screens on side and rear windows. I was initially planning to have security partition, but went with curtain for simplicity and budget.
I like the security partition but could recline seats im still looking, researching is a process but thanks for inspiring me to do it right and not just jump in and flounder
Yeah. I think as slow as you can go the better. Even taking some short trips or sleeping in the van before you finish build to see how you'll use it. Yeah, I can't do partition now without sacrificing swivel seat. That "recliner" will be priceless when boon docking someday!
I'm a single bubble, but I like your deuce bubble. 🎈🎈😄 Maybe after I have the solar installed up on the roof-estate I'll know if there's room for another bubble, or maybe even a baby bubble. 👍🏻😄🚐
Very informative, ,as a Florida resident I have no doubt. That the double bubble. Will keep you cool..some of the new roadtrek motor homes. Are using batteries to power a super high efficiency air conditioner. .they don't have a generator they just use the alternator to recharge batterlies when'they get low..but I think it uses high dollar electric car type packs..heard it can run air for 8 hours
Will Burson this is how you do air conditioning. .in your van... Build a cabinet that encloses one of those little 5000 BTU hundred dollar Walmart air conditioners the same way that an RV refrigerator gets enclosed into a cabinet with an outside door just one small outside louver door on a hinge for refrigerator.. so the air conditioner does not stick out it stays inside the van and get some air into it from the out side refrigerator you might add a little small 12 volt fan to help along with this .. Then get yourself a small Yamaha or Honda generator even a thousand watt when we run one of those little 5000 BTU air conditioners because I've done it... Install a carbon monoxide monitor first then fabricate a mount to put the generator where your spare tire is one of those little small Hondas are Yamaha's will run that air conditioner for eight or ten hours on one gallon of
i think i will do a double bubble also. do you use solar? i was thinking about just hooking the house batteries to the starting battery, that seems easier...take care
Heyyy, what are you seeing as results Will? I have a new fantastic fan up front, I have a 6 inch round fan above toilet that only blows out. *I have new video showing install on my channel* The heat isn't so bad that I have needed both, but I thought you being in Florida you may have needed it by now.
I think you mainly need a place to let air in and a fan to exhaust it. Yes the second fan moves a lot more, but in a pinch you could mimic effect with an open window.
hey bro u said after so many years they still work? do they leak any? weather/sun/heat damage? I'm building my bronco with a rear sleeper setup. but Wana run this setup with a solar panel. in the heat does it cool decent with one? and in the winter does it hold heat or have to insulate it?
You could use screen on a window to keep bugs out and use it that way. You'll probably want extra ventilation (beyond fan) if it hot. A place to draw air in. Any hole you make will reduce insulation in cold. They held up well had to reseal after about 4 years of spending lots of time in FL/TX/CO.
This had been really helpful Will. I'm about to invest in a new van. My '97 E-250 is going to retire after 18 glorious years. First thing I did was installed the fantastic vent/ fan and still works perfectly. I think with your thoughts and info, regarding having two of them. I'll go for two in the new van. Now what do I buy? Ford Transit, ..Sprinter, or GMC. I'm leaning toward GMC.
Peter Stanhope I'm a Chevy man, myself. If you are able to wait a little while you may see what GM's answer to the full-size Transit and ProMaster. GM has gotta come up with some kind of behemoth hitop van since Ford and Dodge both have them. One of those with a Duramax? Man oh man…hahaha All that said, I don't think you can go wrong at all with that full size Transit. That looks to be a very well thought out vehicle.
Thank you Will. I really appreciate your input into my plans. As always. You support my same thoughts. It's simply a matter of thought and good judgement. Thanks again,.. Pete.
Great video with the dual fans. Also, with only a few windows in the van, the fans act like sky lights for diffused light - although some soft covers (with snaps or velcro) may be required if sleeping near street lights. GoneCamper.com
He said the low setting uses one amp/hour. That doesn't really make any sense. Amps are already relative to time. What he should be giving us is the wattage.
I'm planning to wrestle in my van too. Thank god I found your video!
Thanks for watching
I live in FL and this is what I have been planning. Great minds must think a like
so how does it work for your rig?
Thanks for watching Earl
Great point on the low setting and not being able to hear it outside the van.
👍
Good set-up ! Thanks for sharing !
👍
Maximizing airflow is key great set up Will.
BlackTop Boondocker I hope the airflow keeps in dry in spite of humidity--we shall see. Thanks, John!

Day Drifter Looks like you're out west? I would find a good sized RV outfitter with a service department and have them install vent fan for you.
I did. He wanted $420 for the 3350 model fan and minimum $120 for labor.... ah, no!

Rolling Earth-Ship Hahaha. Even a second vent with no fan is great. If it's not hot out I just run one blowing out to circulate air/
Cool...literally. 😊👍🏻

wrestling in a van ? not very stealth with the van moving around lol
Jeff Custrin The lingo on this channel is family friendly! haha

Same way Famtastic themselves rate it. You can multiply it times 12 if you prefer W, but I think you already knew that.
Wrestling.
