    • @HerbOMatic

I was an early adopter, was great, until the exchange rate got too far out of line, and it's priced in USD. Sold it to a friend, who has a remote cabin.
I went back to my local provider, who saw the writing on the wall, and dropped their price.
I'll wait till Amazon's Project Kuiper, starts, then the price war will start.

The Land needs to hurry up and provide you with an 8' Werner aluminum stepladder. I love mine. Perfect for doing stuff at fascia level.

Hi Herb- JYI you should invest in solar hot water. No more flame 120 degree water from the sun. Also watch Ambition strikes on their off grid electric . They really have great power.

They made 2 of those ladders, you have one and I have one,...you figured it out. Next time you go out there, stop and get me. Ill run your John Deer and straighten out your yard / entry way. Its the desert,...but who wants to lean on a cactus, or fall on one, bury them at a safe distance. My wife just said that yours is the only husband and wife channel that she likes,...me too. Its a husband and wife endeavor,... yeah, keep her,...she is smart.

Nice use of the "fingertip to elbow crack" measuring device! Not to be confused with the "fingertip to butt crack" measuring which is and entirely different kind of video 😅

Can you imagine if Starlink knew a company that did solar, and built a solar panel into the receiver dish, then if Starlink knew a company that did efficient rechargeable batteries to store that energy for night use. Just saying.

The walkway is looking great, as is the merchandise. If the postage to Australia was not so dear and you made them in tents size, I would buy a couple. I guess the next big job is installing the snake mesh around the yard and remove some of the weirder objects so your dogs can come up to visit.

My folks own a cabin near Fairplay, CO (the real South Park), and I suggested for them to use Starlink a few years ago but it wasn't available then. They have a slow and unreliable satellite Internet currently, and it looks like Starlink is finally available in their area.
I'll be sure to pressure them into buying it before the wife and I head up there. There's no reason we should be paying for those luxuries on our vacation! LMFAO
No, really, I got them on the early notification for when it's available, and it finally is. I may be installing it while we're visiting them in Colorado for Thanksgiving.
Hopefully my parents will thanking me for giving to them!

Part of the problem with the old Hughesnet satellite stuff is that those sats are in geosynchronous orbit, which means they're at a super high altitude--something like 20,000+ miles high. That drives up latency like crazy, which shows in your speed test as the ping time (649ms for Hughesnet vs 29ms for Starlink). The Starlink sats are at a far lower orbit, so latency is much better. You're also at a great latitude to see lots of Starlink sats at any given time, which helps quite a bit. Also that you don't have any obstructions like tall trees, buildings, etc that can block the RF signal.
The bird poop wouldn't affect the Hughesnet, btw. It sucks equally with and without bird poop on the dish.
