Those tamales are way different from how we make them. We make by pound. We soak the hojas in warm water. We don't boil them. I spread the mass with the back of the spoon. We spread from on end of hoja to the other and to the very bottom. We do not tie them. We roll them like Michael did and we have special steamer for it. Same way Michael put them in we do that but we usually make 5 pounds at a time. My grandma used to add a little sugar to the mass and mix in raisins.
I feel kind of funny whenever she says "tamali" instead of tamal. A single piece is called "tamal". I hate raisins but aparently all Mexican grandmas love to add it to our dulces.
Ahhhhh finally u make another one of these! Ive been waiting :) please make these what I eat in a day vids more often i know ur busy but these are by far my favorite out on youtube... Food I actually eat, good reminders of food options! Xoxo Diana
You just blew my mind by making vegan tamales! My boyfriend even was like damn that looks good! He's Mexican and loves tamales. So you got his stamp of approval, not that you needed it. But you know what I mean! Lol 😉
I've made tamales with my family before. You really only need the Maseca, salt and water for the dough. But I enjoyed this video overall. (Source: I'm hispanic)
Your videos give me life. I'm not even vegan but I really, really, really enjoy watching your food videos. I might go vegan one day too. Very inspirational. Much love from the Caribbean.
I'm mexican and there are plenty of ways you can make your tamales, you can make pineapple ones with sugar instead of salt, or you can make some enchilada salsa and top then of with that and vegan cheese, of course the salty ones
+Nasa P certainly not. It's more akin to making dumplings etc. very hands on. A lot of in and out. I would know, I'm Cuban. Tamales are part of our cuisine.
Love it! Definitely going to try the dates recipe. Like the tone of your voice which is very smoothing, making it a whole lot of enjoyable to watch the video.
I am a big fan of those Acai packs too, love making my acai bowls at home. Enjoyed your lunch and dinner ideas too, going to have to try that out! xoMelissa
I'm not vegan but there are a few recipes from my culture that contain no meat or animal products. And the great part about tamales is that the masa is already vegan (if you buy it unprepared) so it's all up to the filling. My vegan favorite tamales are using a banana leaf and filling the masa with a black bean paste of cooked blended black beans and avocado leaf.
Wow! I'm so impressed. You guys really go all out with your meals. Pretty cool that you have a partner who enjoys cooking and eating vegan with you. I have always wanted to try making homemade tamales but I've been intimidated. Now maybe I'll give 'em a try. :)
All that delicious Vegan food looks AMAZING and so healthy :-) Thanks a million for sharing Christine and sending you an abundance of Vegan love and happiness from Ireland for a fantastic Wednesday ahead XXXXX
I'm not vegan whatsoever and probably never will be but I LOVE your recipes and I'd try them. but I just wanted to say dates are like the most disgusting thing ever created and unless it's fresh coconut isn't even that good (my opinion). So to me that's like a recipe of pure disgustingness 😊💞
Those Tamales look awesome! I live right above the border of mexico and let me tell you, your husband did an amazing job! most people have trouble with tamales but that looks great! Thank you for the video.
so, after your video about vegan curing cystic acne, i was wondering what do you eat, because you said that you dont even eat nuts, or certain nuts. but this looks great, especially the tamales :D nice job guys!
I love watching you guys work as a team in the kitchen. Your meals look amazing and so colorful and delicious. Also love how everything in you home looks clean and organized. Keep up the good work :)
Thank you for the vegan tamales recipe! Me and my family love tamales but making vegan ones is something i didn't know if we could do, so thank you for this easy recipe!!

***** 30 yrs? Wow that's awesome! I don't think it will be all that hard for me so far I've been doing really good with it I've never been a big meat eater It's interesting what you said about convenience products the other day I was just thinking about how with so many people going vegan pretty soon companies are gonna start producing products and throwing the Vegan stamp on it yet will have their meat products on the shelves as well. Anyway thank you for the link! :)
All your meals look delish, but as someone who counts macros and eats only whole foods l can't eat a lot of this. Kudos to you girlfriend, very ecclectic, varied, and flavorful diet!!!!
I have honestly never seen anyone who eats that many tacos! They look delicious tho!And while I'm just about to start a Paleo based diet for health reasons plus I'm not gonna lie I love meat, I will def try to incorporate some tacos in the near future...minus the tomatoes and onion that I'm sensitive to...:(
You don't need protein powder in your smoothies. Processed protein powders vegan or not are carcinogenic. Plant doctor's advice against all protein powders..............Just a tip.......
Hi I know this is not a succulent video however I have a question, is there a certain type of succulent that stays fairly small? Like one of the Echeverias or haworthias ( im not sure if I spelled that right,) but if you can answer my question that would be great! 😊

Omg I'm totally going to make those coconut date rolls. How simple! I never thought to make those. I love your videos so much. I always learn something new ❤️
Oh I also love date-cacao balls:) You ad raw cacao-powder and a bit of fresh orange juice (just to mix it easier) and then you ad oats until its a easy to roll-consistency. And then you roll them in coconut .. So delicious !

Wow. That was a lot of work. I'd consider a meal such as your dinner a "special occasion...once in a blue moon" sort of thing.
I don't see how... It's just as much work as boiling pasta and making your own sauce if not less...
+Nasa P certainly not. It's more akin to making dumplings etc. very hands on. A lot of in and out. I would know, I'm Cuban. Tamales are part of our cuisine.
Even though I'm not vegan, I love watching these videos from you and gives me idea on what to make for myself and my family.
