  • I cover the support roadmap for Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 vs Windows 11 Pro GAC edition. The LTSC IoT edition includes 10 years of support and locks you into build 24H2. Windows 11 Pro GAC only has 24 months of support for each build version and forces you to upgrade to the newer build version every 24 months.

I believe a lot of us are now looking for a viable way to avoid the upcoming keylogging and privacy theft feature called "Recall".

Microsoft just changed direction on the Recall feature and it will be turned off by default. They took some heat for that one. It's good that they are trying to listen to the public.

I'm building a new computer that I will be using for work (digital art, editing, app development) and personal use (gaming, internet browsing, movies). Does it make sense for me to get LTSC when its not purely for work environment?

It really doesn't make sense for that scenario and technically it doesn't qualify for the IoT version of LTSC. The non LTSC version is a $275 upgrade to Pro and well that $275 would better be spent on a higher model graphics card. The IoT version is strictly for OEM's that are building appliances and requires signing a legal agreement. I know many of my viewers are just end users that in many cases aren't even paying for a real license. Even if I were to look at it from that angle, I would still stick with the GAC version of 11 for a home user. The GAC version of Windows 11 both Pro and Enterprise get you 3 years of support on a single build which is more than enough time between Windows updating forcing you to a newer build.

Is this better than Windows 10 IoT LTSC 2021?

Depends on if you like 10 or 11 better.

Honestly we’ll have to give it some time. It is based on the 4th build version of windows 11 but the 10 LTSC 2021 was based on the 13th build of windows 10. That LTSC 2021 product is rock solid.

It is interesting that everyone came to the channel for better windows and everyone would like to buy legally, but it is not possible. Why even promote this? How many purchase requests have you had for private users in the last 10 days..

My channel isn't directed at end users and is focused directly at OEM's that build appliances. I'm sure the youtube algorithm cannot determine if you are an end-user or an OEM so it promotes to both type of users. An end user can purchase this product as an upgrade but it is very expensive. Just google Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 Volume channel edition. The Win 11 IoT Ent LTSC Volume edition isn't out yet... won't be out till later this fall.

OK, how do I get a legal copy of this to run on my personal PC? From everything I've read, I can't.
Microsoft needs to wake up and see that probably millions of Win 11 users are switching to MacOS, Linux or Chrome OS!
Wake up Microsoft and see that a sale of Win 11 LTSC at least keeps your customers! Don't run them all away and wonder why your stock is in the toilet.

As an end user you can purchase the volume 11 Enterprise LTSC upgrade but it’s expensive. Hey I agree with you and provide feedback often to Microsoft.
