Jara, I have been fixing your MIJs for my widowed mother to make sure she eats nutritious meals instead of fast food and cereal. She loves the ease & flavor. I feel comfortable that she is taking care of her nutrition.
Aww I love seeing this! ❤️❤️❤️ What a great way to utilize these meals ❤️ Thank you for sharing this!
Once a week, I go into our food stores and "shop" and prepare a meal. One of my hubby's favorite is my Spam hash. Spam, canned sliced potatoes, freeze dried onions and peppers.
I am thinking of a mac and nacho cheese in a jar.
Jara, your demo is so appreciated! Thank you! God bless........🐖🐄
These both look delicious thank you.
My favorite hamburger helper was the hash brown hamburger helper. I haven't seen it at the store for a couple years
1st choice: 🐄
But gonna try 🐖 too!!
Thank you for another AWESOME video!
🐄 both sound amazing. I'm definitely going to try both. 🐖 Thank you for another thorough and wonderful instruction video. I learn SO MUCH from you each video. 💜👍🏻
You are so welcome!!!! ❤️❤️ Thank you for being here, I appreciate you!!
She’s such a huge help to me too. I really appreciate her!
I didn’t realize the pulled pork had a shorter open life. Thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely be trying that Cuban pork recipe! It looks delicious! 🐖
If the meat is omited these would make great easy side dishes. We BBQ a few nights during RV trips and how convenient to add the hot water so it can hydrate while I cook on the grill. No extra dishes. Thanks for great ideas.
Absolutely!
You never disappoint, another excellent video. I'll be adding the wallaby pouches to my next Amazon order, looking forward to making trail meals. We no longer eat pork after finding out hogs are getting MRNA shots, possibly some are not but there is no way of knowing. I miss pork but I safeguard my health as much as possible because without good health nothing else matters. 🐄🐔. I threw in a chicken imogi in honor of your cute song at the end.❤
Jara, please send links for dehydrated food in bulk for purchase. Thanks

I feel like chicken tonight… 😂😂😂😂 Another great video as always! Thanks for the ideals!
😂😂😂
OMG…. The dance. 🐥 Tonight!!! 😂. You have out done yourself! With the dance AND the recipes! Very inspiring and I so appreciate the detailed way you present. It fits the way I learn. You always have such great ideas. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me. 🐖 and 🐄!! 😊
😂😂😂
🐄 I love the chicken tonight dance! 🤣🤣🤣 Both of these look really good. Camping/hiking season is coming so I will have to make some of these up. I love that I don't have to dirty any dishes. Great video!
😂😂😂 Thank you Carrie!!
I don't even like pulled pork OR bell pepper and I want to make these rice dishes!
🐖🐖🐄🐄 I think both will be favorites in our home! Thanks for the great info!
You're welcome!! 😊
Oh, my goodness! I don't even have to do the math for a single serving of each bowl. You make it so easy for a beginner. Thank you.
You're welcome! I'm glad it's helpful!
Back in the 70's I think, Lipton made a meatliaf extender with TVP that you mixed with ground beef. I miss that as I love neatliaf. Perhaps you might do that including the seasoning. Its been so long I'm not sure I even rember how it tasted.
Wow I love this idea! I'll look into it thanks!
I remember that! I think TVP is an unsung hero. It takes on whatever taste you have added.
I loved Chicken Tonight! 🐔 I was so disappointed when they discontinued it. My favorite was the Country French flavor.
I don't remember that flavor of Hamburger Helper, but I usually ate the kinds with potatoes or noodles. My favorite was Cheeseburger Macaroni and a lot of times I would make it without meat to serve with meatloaf along with a veggie.
I'll have to try both of these to see which I like best. 🐂 🐖
Hi, new subscriber here. I was wondering what size cannisters you have for the peas and meats? There are several options at the Wallmart site. I like the size you have on the countertop.
🐂 looks delicious!
I love this idea. I was wondering how do you determin how many calories are in each jar and how many servings per jar
I haven't done this yet, but you could use an app like My Fitness Pal to calculate the calories. I usually get 3-4 servings out of a quart jar meal. It depends on how big the appetites are you're feeding! 😊
Woo hoo. Another fabulous video. I LOVE the MRE’s as well…. We have never had hamburger helper here in Australia. But we did have chicken tonight, and I will be singing that jingle for the rest of the day ha ha ha ha…
You have to do the dance, too!! 🤣🤣
Hi, Cathy introduced me to your videos 3 days ago. I'm so excited. I can't get the links below to work. Please advise. I looking for the burner you used. I have never seen one that didn't have to be attached to a canister of fuel. Thank you. Also Thank you for all these wonder full meals. I'm 73 and this will be great. Good food easy. It's just me so this will be perfect. God bless you and yours always.
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! Does this link for the stove work better for you?
walmrt.us/3vj0fyu
This one actually does have a fuel canister, it fits inside of it and locks in.
🐄Actually they both look really good 🐖I like putting the meals in mylar bags just for storage reasons. Have a great day and thanks for sharing great information.
I love the MREs. I just purchased several cans of the pork, so will be giving the meal a try. Thanks Jara. 🐖
You're welcome a the pork so good! 😋
Amazing meals in no time! Wow. I’m definitely going to get with my daughter & get some made. Thank you, Jara! 😊😍👍
I love the meals in a jar idea. How would you adapt these for a single person in a no power situation. I wouldn't want any leftovers if I didn't have a way to refrigerate it.
I just half or quarter the recipe, if that helps.
Pint jars,adjust accordingly.
Thank you 🐔🐄🐖
Thank you J!
Asian challenge complete!
You give us such good meals and ideas. Thank you for reminding us about the Thrive Life sales!
Great advice my lady
Thank you! ❤️
The meals in a jar are always great. But, the MRE'S are a step further. Easy to travel with etc and will be way cheaper than the hiking meals that you can buy. I have found that the bought hiking meals tend to need longer to steep than they say. Thank you for the inspiration 🎉
Can't wait to try these!
Thank you
Both of these sounds wonderful!!!
How do you know how much water to add?
On the recipe card, it tells you how much water to add. There is a link to the printable recipe card in the video description.
Great video! Thank you for sharing
❤
Yummy, thanks! I think both are great! 🐖🐄
You're welcome! 😊
MRE bags are a great idea. 🐄
Could you add dehydrated egg for a 'fried rice' ?
I admit that I was disappointed to hear you mention the short shelf life of the pulled pork after opening. It is on the label to use within a month after opening.
That needs to be on its description page. I'm glad that I only bought 2 cans. Now, off to find MIAJ recipes for using it.
Thanks for all of the meal ideas that you give us and the great videos!
I will definitely mention that to Thrive Life, and I agree. But for future reference, there is a link under every product that gives more information on shelf life after opening. That links to this page: wickedprepared.thrivelife.com/shelf-life
There are also pictures of all of the labels on each product page as well.
@wickedprepared Yes, I saw the link after the video. I guess I thought that all FD food had a 25 year shelf life ... although I probably won't be around in 25 years to find out LOL
But thanks, and I'll remember that link! ❤️
Most freeze dried food does have an unopened shelf life of 25 years, definitely 😊 Including the pulled pork. But after any can is opened, most freeze dried food is good for 6-12 months UNLESS you repackage it properly 😊
Love these recipes!
Glad you like them!
Great video❤. Thanks for including source links. I’m going to try both recipes, and my prediction is that I’ll like the beef better, but my hubs will prefer the pork.😂. 🐄 🐖
Thank you! Can't wait to hear what you think! 🥰
I never liked hamburger helper of any kind but the Cuban pulled pork is a must try.
Question - how did you figure them measurements for the MRE bags? I have a lot of those bags on hand to make meals.
That inventory is a great tool. Can you share that program? Thank you.
Hey there 😊 The one we've been using is called "Smart Inventory" and it's by NonZeroApps. We use Android, so this is a link to that version: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nonzeroapps.android.smartinventory
I'm not sure if it's available thru Apple or not 🤷♀️
@@wickedprepared 🥰
You are too cute😊 …(and so smart. )Thank you for all the links
Aww thanks!
This practical demonstration was so helpful, thank you!
Does the bar code scanner system only apply to items purchased from Thrive or can it be used on any stored product?
Thank you! The inventory system can be used with any items! We use the app to create the qr code for each item. Then we add the qr code to the labels we print from our thermal label printer. We can put a label on each item, or just affix the label to the front of the shelf space for that item if we don't want to label each individual item in the row.
This is the app we're using.
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nonzeroapps.android.smartinventory
What app do you use to track your food? That looks interesting. I have a pantry app.

You could easily substitute shredded chicken for the hamburger and shredded pork.
Certainly! That would make for even more meal options 😋
I do remember rice oriental😊
👍the beef
Hi Jara 👋🏻
Hi Maria!!
I have to eat gluten-free. I'm thinking that umami might be a good substitute for the soy sauce powder in the Hamburger Rice Oriental recipe. 🤔
Edited: I just found gluten-free tamari soy sauce powder on Amazon. 🤗
I buy gluten free powder tamari! So yummy!
OK I'm editing too lol I see you said Amazon!
Wahoo!! Where did you find it? I did a search to see if soy sauce powder had gluten because otherwise I thought it would be a great gf meal! What I discovered was that yes soy sauce is made with wheat 😆
Great job!
I didn't know u didn't have to put an o.a. in if less than a year.
Can u use harvest right gusset bags for this?
Also can u fd cooked rice for this...would it be the same as instant rice?
Thanks
You can dehydrate cooked rice to make homemade "minute rice". Freeze drying should also work.
🎉

Hi, I’m looking for low carb options because of health issues. Any suggestions or ideas?
The regular frittata in this video should be fairly low carb because it is all eggs, meat, veggies and cheese.
ruclips.net/video/oVCOOcS92ww/видео.html
I know in general I've had several people say they sub in freeze dried cauliflower or zucchini for the rice or pasta in jar meals to lower the carb count. There are also low carb pastas and rice substitute you could sub in as well.
I am also working on developing more low carb/keto jar meals and a video on low carb food storage, so stay tuned!
Jars, I’ve noticed a few of the MIOJ recipes you have made are a bit bland for me. Wondering if my taste buds are fading as I age, or if you spice lite? I am wanting to adjust to make these for others as well as my own pantry.
If they were some of my oldest videos, when I first got started I hadn't started developing my own recipes yet, and some of the recipes I tried tasted bland to me. Recipes I develop myself are usually seasoned to my taste, but everyone has different tastes. I do try to avoid making anything overly spicy or overly salty because those elements can be added to taste by the individual eating the meal, and not everyone likes or can eat things that are too Salty or spicy. . But that's definitely why I always recommend people try a recipe once so they can adjust to their own tastes, and then make them in bulk when they've got it the way they like it. Just remember to note down any changes you make, or if you're like me, you'll forget next time! 🤪
@@wickedprepared That’s me. Rarely do I make anything the same way twice! Thank you!
To spice it up try a couple shakes of red pepper ground or flakes.
Question.. I hope this isn’t a dumb question. 😂 Can you used bullion cubes crushed up and dried out or is it the same thing?
Never a dumb question! I prefer powdered bouillon but you can use cubes, one cube is equal to a teaspoon of powder.
Are those Mylar bags reusable if thoroughly washed? 🐖🐄 Loving both recipes.
Yes you can wash them! They do retain a slight odor if the food was strongly seasoned. If you do heat seal the top and have to cut or tear it, you lose that bit at the top. So you couldn't do it indefinitely.
@@wickedprepared great info. I might do the bulk of storing meals in the bags since I have nearly zero storage space. Thanks!
I guess the flat mylar bags can be cut at the bottom and resealed. This will keep your zip seal and heat seal intact.
What is the name of the app you use to track your storage?
Hi Connie, The app we've been using is called "Smart Inventory" and it's by NonZeroApps. We use Android, so this is a link to that version: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nonzeroapps.android.smartinventory

Do you vacuum seal the Firehouse powders in your Mason jars to help keep them dry ? I had my worchestershire powder turn into a brick in the original jar it came in .
I haven't vacuum sealed them. But I think you're talking about the little plastic spice jars they have; personally I don't think those are as airtight as a mason jar. I've also had powders harden in those. I would transfer into a small jar like a quarter pint. I also started keeping them in a food storage room instead of in the kitchen because of the moisture that can be in the kitchen from boiling water, dishwashers, etc.
Makes sense. I’m relocating my spices as of today! Once bitten… right? Firehouse items are so worth it - just a little extra TLC. THANKS!
Would dehydrated onions be the same measurement as freeze dried onions?
Use less, about half the amount. Although it's just onions so if you really like onions, you could add the full amount and I'm sure it would be fine!
🐷 I will try both
Any idea what the shelf like of your jar meals are?
Generally, around 5-7 years with an oxygen absorber is standard. It's important to store your jars in a dark place or the light can fade the color out of your veggies through the glass.
Thank you. Do you dehydrate your carrots or do you buy them that way?
I buy mine here: wickedprepared.thrivelife.com/carrot-dices.html Unfortunately they're out of stock right now 🫤 But you never know when they might be back, so it doesn't hurt to keep checking 😊 They're delicious!
Can this be done with chicken instead of pork?
I don't see why not 😊
Is instant rice the same as Minuet rice? Can you use Minuet rice?🐷
Yes it's the same thing, Minute Rice is the brand name 😊
@@wickedprepared Thank you.
Where are the recipes to these meals?
They are on this page:
sites.google.com/wickedprepared.com/wickedprepared/meal-in-a-jar-recipes?authuser=0
Would it help to also use the airtight jar sealer? would it add shelflife?
You don't need to do both, but some people use a jar sealer instead of an oxygen absorber. I personally don't think it will last quite as long as with the oa, but I don't have enough personal experience to say for sure! And many people don't plan to have them on the shelf for years as they plan to rotate through them which is ideal, so vacuum sealing is fine. You just have to be careful with powdered ingredients so they don't get sucked up into the sealer.
@@wickedprepared Thanks. I’ve never tried the freeze dried meats, but you have really piqued my curiosity.
They're amazing!!! ❤️
I dialed the above phone number you posted on your screen but a person answered stating that my call can not be comp[eted with the number dialed.
Yes, this number is for texting only. Do you text? Or if you'd like, you can email me at info@wickedprepared.com
What does shtf mean?
How do I print out the recipes?
Hi there 😊 When you're on the page with all of the different recipes, click on the recipe you'd like. This will bring up two different versions of the same recipe page - one in black and white with no picture, and one with colors and a picture. At this point, you can right click on the image and "print image" if you're using a computer. If you're on a mobile device, you'll have to long-press on the image and save it to your device. And then you should be able to print 😊 Hopefully this helps. But if not, just let me know 😊
🐄
🐖🐖🐄🐄 I can't decide 😂❤
🤣 They're both so good! If I do say so myself 😬😀
