I saw this idea also on Alaska Granny’s channel. This is a very good idea to put individual meal preps in a bag. This is very convenient. I am glad you mentioned other ways to cook these besides an oven. Could you do a video on just ways to cook and Bake outdoors. Great ideas here in this video. And in an emergency you could certainly use the liquid in those cans ….that’s smart…
I'll definitely keep them coming! Have you seen all the ones we have so far? Here's the playlist: Emergency Meal Kits: ruclips.net/p/PL-sp4L-Y4c5Bwg58lZIg3mv0lFln8PCQR
I used this idea as my gift to my family for Christmas this year. They loved it. My sister and I was talking about the different meals I put in the box and she said that she just needed to figure out how to cook them. I pointed out to her that she has a cast iron Dutch oven and a fire pit and wood. (Yes I thought of how she would be able to cook these). These are such a great idea. Thank you for sharing these
Thank you so very much for these recipes. My granddaughter is expecting her first child, I am going to put these meals together so when she comes home from the hospital her husband will be able to make these.
Thank you for the inspiration! 💲 🌳 My plan is to make up these 5 "meals in bags" and offer them to a family in the community. We have a few families in need this winter. ❤ Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
Some of these are definitely going in my buslife pantry! In addition to including a foil pan in the bags, I also include a sheet of aluminum foil big enough to cover the pan whether called for or not. That way I can seal any leftovers in the pan and store it in my 12v fridge/freezer that runs off my bluetti power station. If the foil sheet's not needed, it gets saved for other purposes. I really like the Hormel 5 oz cans of ham chunks for my meal kits. They're available from Amazon in a case of 9 (or 12?) for a better price per can than my grocery store and would work well with the oven fried rice for those not fans of spam. Thanks for all your work and inspiration! Happy New Year!
This is a fabulous video. Please do more. I was by myself during my last emergency. I used my shelf stable meal bags and I was grateful not to have to plan. Being prepared saved the day. Luckily I had put 8x8 pans, and bottles of water with the bags. You might never need these extras but if you do it’s worth the pre-planning!
for the chicken gnocchi soup instead of 2 cans of cream of chicken i use 1 can of cream of chicken and 1 can chicken ala king...it adds a great flavor of the peppers and creaminess....so yummy 😋
These are great ideas! Thank you for being so thorough with your directions and options. It's obvious that you put a lot of time into this. We are trying to keep our meals keto, which makes it more complicated. But I found a shelf stable Cauliflower Rice at Walmart that I might try with these as a replacement for the rice/pasta. It would be great to have some meals available for those nights that I don't have a meal planned for. 💲🌳
That definitely makes it tougher! I know some people who sub in cauliflower for the pasta in my jar meals! I'm hoping to come up with more keto/low carb pantry meal ideas! It's definitely an added challenge! But having things easy and ready to go could be such a help in sticking with a plan like that- I know that's when I tend to fail! 😕
Hey Guys, Best wishes to you guys for the new year.. Situational Awareness all the time.. WHAT A WINTA..😀 Wood pile looks great so far, don't ya know.. Squirrels are still out and am looking at em to dehydrate😀.. Squirrel jerky.. Stay safe and WICKED..
Happy New Year to you!!! Thank you for being here and making us smile, we always look forward to reading your comments!! 😃😃😃 You stay safe over they-yah!! Yessahh
💲🌳 All of these meals look delicious and so easy. Great video. I finally was able to try a few things from Thrive life. The spinach Alfredo meal and the blueberry oatmeal were so good. You would never guess they were a freeze dried meal. So easy! I am planning on getting more and using them for camping and keeping some to add to my preparedness stock. Happy New Year! 🎉
👍💲🌳. I hope my dollar tree has these ingredients. Sometimes it’s hit or miss. Thanks Jara for this continuing series on survival. I think we will need these in the coming year.
Thank you for sharing this. I have converted several of the other meals you have shown to no or very low sodium. My husband has tight restrictions and he can enjoy these meals. I have also packaged up many of these meals for those in need. Some I have been able to make low sodium. Because I can so much of my husbands meats and veg I make his meals using those. It is more difficult to prepare low sodium to give to other. I do make the dry cream of "anything" soup mix but because it is made by me and put in veggies I will not give those to people I don't know. I'm sure that is the best way to keep it safe. I thank you again for sharing these meal recipes and helping provide many meals that cost under $7.00 from the Dollar Tree. ❤💲
Keep in mind when you are on a power outage situation you can bake in your grill! I do this when we are at the office grid cabin. You can make biscuits and all
I think these meals would be good for someone like myself, 77 years old, and it’s getting more and more difficult for me to cook. Add on gluten-free, dairy free and diabetic. Thanks for the ideas.
Love these meal options!! You are an inspiration! Thank you! Keep these recipes coming! We already incorporate your other recipes in our everday meals too.
Omg Jara, I love this and I thank you so much for your ideas and work! I'm going to put together a few for our daughter's family too. Im a new subscriber and I plan on ordering a few thrive products also..! plan 💲🌳
Cool video, thanks for sharing. I would like to see a video with recipes that are stovetop only and don't need baking. Like good camping meals to prep. Great work!
These were really good looking meals!!! Im sharing this channel with my grand children. They are struggling but live too far away for me to put bags together. Hopefully they have a dollar store near by. Just the easy of making meals will help the younger ones just getting out on their own. A great big thank you for being you & sharing with so many. God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon. PS HAPPY NEW YEAR
Jara you are much better off with the mushroom liquid than the evaporated filled milk (read the label). Dollar Tree has boxed shelf stable milk. I am wondering just how sweet the teriyaki dish came out. We don't eat pasta or rice more than once or twice a month but for emergency meals I want to have options. Thanks so much! Many Blessings from Deborah in West Virginia! 👍
I have done this challenge for a 3-day to 10-days kit for earthquake preparedness before the 1989 Earthquake in San Francisco, using grocery store items. The challenge was no cook actual meals from the grocery store. I had never had canned tamales. I found out canned tamales can be the main dish for a no cook meal, or a small can of deviled ham and crushed pickles or tuna and pickles can be a satisfying cold sandwich if you have bread. The idea carried over to much improved no cook backpacking meals. It was so much better than the summer sausage, french bread rolls and peanut butter or gouda cheese, an apple or a mandarin orange and a snickers bar I started out for backpacking. For backpacking, if out overnight or more nights we had creative one pan meals before there were freeze-dry meals. The challenge was one pan one burner. Backpacker forums and some of the websites for backpackers can be a source of ideas. I still put together my own meals. I like backcountryfoodie website as a resource of ideas. I will look at the Dollar Store in a new way, and I will look at the youtube channels you recommend.
These are wonderful ideas. No canning, no dehydrating. I am going to use these as our new prepper tryout meals. QUESTION - how would a recipe be altered if you use some freeze dried meat? Should you reconstitute the meat separately and then add it or do you think it will reconstitute OK mixed in with everything else? Thanks so much!
I use dehydrated beef often for quick meals, I normally only need the liquid from any can goods I use. It’s a great idea using the dehydrated or freeze dried meats, I use beef gravel to make baked spaghetti even. I bake it in my grill!
Do you need to vent or open a window to use the butane stove indoors? All your meals were winners. First one I'll make is the soup even have all ingredients on hand. Thanks, great video.
You don't need to open a window or vent to use the butane stove indoors. They are approved for indoor cooking. You could use a small carbon dioxide alarm to ensure you're safe.
I really enjoy the meals-in-a-bag, and meals-in-a-jar videos. So many good ideas. I want to recreate BC’s Potato Scrambles Kit - Ham and Cheese. I’ve found shelf-stable substitutes for all the ingredients in the kit and most of those that need to be added when cooking, but the one I can’t figure out what to do about is the 2T veg oil the kit calls for. Would freeze dried butter work??? I don’t usually buy this kind of packaged food, but it was on clearance for 99¢
Not shelf ready: I make "fake out enchiladas" using frozen taquitos or burritos. They are so good. One time there was no enchilada sauce so, I used salsa and sour cream for sauce.
I do the same with the frozen burritos- it's so good! In fact my oldest daughter texted me the other day asking for the "recipe" 😂 I told her there really isn't one, it's so simple! Love your hack using the salsa and sour cream!

I like to see on a charcoal grill. Or using a Dutch oven.
Rose Red Homestead does a lot of that. Give her a try she is really good.
We need more meals in a bag recipes. These are great for churches and organizations trying to help people in need.
I'll definitely keep them coming! Have you seen all the ones we have so far? Here's the playlist:
Emergency Meal Kits: ruclips.net/p/PL-sp4L-Y4c5Bwg58lZIg3mv0lFln8PCQR
You could totally add those green beans to the french onion casserole. that would be great
You know, you're right! And then voila, one dish meal! Lol.
That is what I would do. Love one pot wonders.
I was thinking that some peas would be great in it vs the green beans. Either way it's all in one then!
Or peas..or mixed veg...or carrots...whatever veg you like.
These are great ideas for those who are on a fixed income. Inexpensive meals and easy to put together! Winner winner chicken gnocchi dinner 🤩❤🏆

That was running through my head as options to take to our local food pantry, as she was showing us each meal.

Great idea! I’ve got the ham on my shelf. Thanks
I would have also put a can of carrots and peas in with the corn.
They come mixed and for single you can get little cans.
I love your meals in bags/jars videos ❤💲🌳

Some great meals to try😋😋😋
I have done the dollar tree chicken a la king over rice for a quick meal. Add a side veggie and it’s a great meal.

Those look yummy. I love the bag idea, our dollar tree doesn't have those. But I can figure something out. Thanks, 💲🌳
I love these "meal-in-a-bag" ideas. 💲🌲
Thumbs up/Tree...can't find my emojis!!! Love the idea of having meals ready to go to make. I work 40 HR retail weeks as a senior.

Power is out and your oven works? I like the recipes and the preplanned meals are great.
Shepard 's pie is good with cheese on top .

I like that Shepherd pie idea. I would have to use peas instead of corn because of my wife's diet restrictions.
Great recipes that I’m going to try. Do you get your bags there as well?
I didn't, I got these from Amazon but I have found similar sized plain paper gift bags at Dollar Tree that would work well!
Lunches meat aka spam is popular in Hawaii. Something to do with WWII.
