I would also add bell peppers!!! I also fold a towel to tap the jar down on.🤚
Fruit salad in a jar. I would substitute breakfast sausage crumbles for the hamburg. I wouldn't mind seeing cheeseburger in a jar.
Sounds great!
I really appreciate the meals-in-a-jar and the meals-in-a-bag videos. And, thank you, too, for the sneak peek of March specials. I’ve been dying to know! 👋
We appreciate you watching!! Thank you for watching! 😊😊😊 Very excited for upcoming sales!!!
That recipe print is amazing. Can print a cook book one meal at a time.
👋I’m finally opening and using some of my ThriveLife foods! These meals in a jar are great and so handy to have on the shelf. Thank you!!❤🇺🇸
I really like that you cooked it up on screen. Thanks!
Yummy 👏
Thanks
We use sausage crumbles, add cheese powder and bell pepper. The quart jar serves 2 adults.
Thanks for sharing this great recipe! 👋
lol...I am so happy that you said, "maybe you heard of this before" b/c I thought I was crazy thinking that you did a video on Taco Twist before!! But I love your meals in a jar. I have made them for a several years but you have new ideas and I love them! And you're right...who likes cutting onions!! As always, well presented and detailed so anyone who is new at this can follow! I will be making 12 at once...thank you!👋
Thank you so much for watching! We appreciate you!
👋🏻 this looks really delicious. I think I would do it with black beans.
Hey Jara 👋 👋 👋 I agree tried of this weather and want to start planting vegetables 😋 😀 🍆🥔🥕🌽🌶🫑🥒🥬🥦 Great video as always!!
Hey Tim! 👋 Spring is so close, yet so far away!! But we're getting there! Right??? Thank you for checking in!
Great video... thank you
Removing the tomato seeds reduces the acidity. I have acid reflux/gerd. So sometimes if needed you’d go through the extra trouble if needed. 😊
Great video! Love the printable recipe. I look forward to seeing more meals in a jar. Thrive Life is awesome, started getting mine about a year ago.
Awesome! Thank you!
Also this/these methods are very helpful to realize what to buy/store (more or less of products) how to use items.
Of course practice for using items!
Not only do we do this..but we also make "weekly, 4 person boxes"! Already put together for possible evacuation situations. So think bags of meals/jar meals..then put together for a week in case of emergency..
I have 16 pre-done boxes in a closet..all mostly uniform in sizing..so in case I had to leave..we could 1st load those in approximately 10 mins & know without a doubt that we had at minimum 4 months of food! Next I would take all of my 5 gallon storage.
I do/did this..bc...I was worried that in a panic situation..where my pantry looks wonderful..but would I grab the most useful items in a panicked??
I do actually use this for camping and such..with a few jars for storage possibly after use and the remainder is in mylar!
In the middle of the woods is a pretty great way to practice this! I add extra items..like maybe some pre-made packaged mixes. Just thrown in.
Extra spices or condiments!
But I do love love your ideas for dishes in your vids! Always new and inventive 😊
I absolutely love the idea of the weekly boxes! Even if you didn't have time or space to take all the boxes, it would be easy to know what to grab and how far it would get you. Brilliant, thanks for sharing this! 🥰
Will you make a chicken fettuccine meal in a jar please? My Dad loves that dish. ❤️❤️❤️
Great idea!!
That looks really good! Thanks for sharing.👋
Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel. Excited and thankful
👋 just the kick in the pants I needed today. How about doing stroganoff as the next meal in the jar recipe? I see beef and mushrooms as the March items.
Sounds good!
BRILLIANTLY - will you be creating a cookbok?
This looks amazing! Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
I've started watching your Meals in a jar videos recently. Getting into freeze dried meals as a quick way to make dinner after work.
Questions - how long does your food last after opening the cans?
- Where did you buy the shrimp and mango from
- Is thrive life the only brand you use or are there others you can recommend?
Tried some freeze dried chicken today and was impressed by the texture, it was hard to believe it wasn't fresh
It's definitely a great way to get a meal on the table quickly!
Most freeze dried foods last about a year once opened. This can depend on things like storage conditions and humidity. The one notable exception i can think of is the pulled pork. The opened shelf life is considerably shorter around 3 weeks, so most people freeze the opened portion or put it immediately into jars or mylar, either in meals or just individual portions, and seal with oxygen absorbers. That said, like most foods I've had it last a lot longer than that. If you live in a humid climate you might want to take extra care with fruits you snack on dry because they can absorb a bit of that humidity from the air over time and lose that light crunchy texture we love so much.
I get my mango from Thrive Life; it's so delicious! wickedprepared.thrivelife.com/freeze-dried-mango.html
The shrimp i got from Thrive Life and it was also delicious but unfortunately it was discontinued and is no longer available. 😕
I pretty much get all my freeze dried foods from Thrive, they really are the best in the business for quality! This is a post where i list many of the sources i use for different ingredients: m.facebook.com/groups/jarasmealsinajar/permalink/874869270694273/?mibextid=Nif5oz
The meats are actually what bring a lot of people to the world of freeze dried food... looking for a better option than canned for their meats and proteins- then they discover all the other benefits and are hooked!
I hope this has been helpful for you!
@@wickedprepared Thanks for the advice. I took a look at the January specials and the price isn't bad for the pantry sampler. I was looking into mylar bags the other day, bought 4 pouches from mountain house to try and ended up loving the beef stroganoff and chicken & dumplings. Was thinking of getting a #10 can and splitting portions into the mylar bags.

👋👍

You are so welcome! We're hoping to do a lot more of these printed recipes in the future especially if we hear they are helpful! So thank you for the feedback!
This looks great Jara Ty so much. Have a great week.
👋
Love these how to put together videos.
Glad you enjoy it!
I have vegetarian taco meat could I use this instead of hamburger.
Love these ideas
Thank you! 😊

Hi J and R, Not a big fan of taco anything, or mex.. Have you done a m-i-a-j for stews ,soups ,chowda?? Chic or turk soup , white chili(mild, mild) , tomato , beef noodle etc.. Sure am glad it's ALMOST MARCH!!!!!!! Not a bad winta but still to freggin long..Your neighbor from across borda..
Howdy Neighbor! 🙋♂️ those are all some great ideas! I'm definitely thinking of doing some kind of beef stew real soon, and I've been planning to do some soup mixes in a jar for awhile. Just never enough time in a day! But we'll get those done very soon! Stay safe and stay warm, the snow will be gone soon, dontcha know it!! Ayuhh!
🍑 I JUST LOVE YOU 🍓
👋Thank you this looks great and I can't wait to try it! Are you familiar with Downeast Food Distributors in Auburn? They do restaurant and bakery supply and have hours where the general public can pick up orders. I've found that they're not the best price for everything, but some things are good deals if you do the math.
I am not familiar but thank you so much for the suggestion! Oddly enough I was just searching the other day for a resource like this near us. I'll have to check them out, thank you SO MUCH!
@@wickedprepared It's a bit of a pain because they don't list prices on their website. You have to call or email to request prices of specific items. My experience is that they respond quickly and are great to deal with.
Can the pantry cans be opened with a can opener? My old hands and fingers struggle with the pull tab
Oh no, Linda! I've never tried it! I struggle with a can opener more than the pop tops. I'll ask around and see if anyone has ever tried that!
Linda I've heard from several people who have used a regular can opener on those cans so yes it works!
@@wickedprepared thank you! I actually pulled a tab off of my honey crystals today. Hubby got the lid off
DARN! At about 7 minutes in, the sound is muted and doesn't come back until 11 minutes 26 or 27 seconds!
Seems to work fine on this end. Did you try with a different device? It may be not as loud, but the sound is definitely there 😊
☃️👍☃️👏☃️😋☃️💯☃️🍀☃️🧄🧅🧀🥗🍅🍖🍝☃️✌️☃️🎈☃️
beef barley soup
Great idea!
Where do you get your quart size jars?
Many hardware and grocery stores have them. Were hard to get during covid bc so many ppl were prepping, or growing food and canning. I already had a lot but needed more. Finding new lids was a problem. I tried everywhere and finally got some at Etsy online. I had the best luck and price from Walmart. Got most online bc stores were out of stock for awhile. Also, I liked having them delivered. 🙂
Hi Rob, I almost always get my jars at Walmart, like Jerrilyn says they tend to have the best prices. I have gotten jars from local hardware stores and Ace Hardware as well for uncommon sizes I couldn't find anywhere else, or if Walmart was out. I've used coupon codes there that made it actually a pretty good deal. Tractor supply usually sells them as well. I've taken to getting my extra lids in bulk from Azure, both of these brands are very good and the Superb brand is actually made in the USA: www.azurestandard.com/shop/search/dome?a_aid=e7c0cebeaf
