Congratulations on you first vlog Julie 🎉 You did SO well! 👏🏼 Hoping to see more from you soon. Your dresses are gorgeous - love your Seasons of East dress especially 😍 xx
Thank you Charlotte, did you mean the summer in New York dress, they also have an autumn in New York dress which is very different. I was sifting through my stash today as it was sunny and I really felt like making another summer in NY, they are so easy to make and wear. I hope you get as my wear out of yours as I do . They’re great with a lightweight polo neck jumper underneath too 🥰
Well done with vlog number one! Thoroughly enjoyed it. I love, love, love your Seasons of East dresses. I would have dismissed the pattern as "not my style" until I saw yours and Adele's. Now 🤔
Thank you Jenny 😍 I love the peony too, it was one of those ‘had to’ buy it on release day patterns that is almost washed out now as I’ve worn it so much…I mean, I must need another right?! 😁😍
Thank you Tracy, so pleased you enjoyed it. I have to keep a check that the ‘gifts’ are not increasing in regularity to maintain the true essence of a hobby and not slip into sideline without payment 🤣 I genuinely love making for others but not at pace My second vlog is uploaded with the FG Peony dress completed and a bit of a review 🤩
Congratulations on your first vlog. I really enjoyed it. Your birthday dresses are stunning and you have given me some inspiration for our Aussie summer which will be here soon. Keep with the vlogging. You are doing well.🙋♂
That’s great to hear Thank you. I’ve uploaded my second vlog with the Fabric Godmother Peony dress which is a stunning pattern to work with Hope you have a better summer than we’re having in the UK. It’s pouring with rain again today 🤷♀️
Well……….great first vlog Julie 😊 and at the time I’m watching you already have more than 700 subscribers 😮 I look forward to your next content. Good thing I’m retired as my list of sewing vloggers I love to watch is growing 😂
Thank you Alison. Im amazed at the amount of interest and support! My second vlog is uploaded now with the finished Peony dress. Thank you for watching 🩷
Such a lovely first vlog, I hope you do many more so I can follow along. I know what you mean about making things for others, the minimum wage for someone with no skills is £10.42 an hour, and making a dress takes ages, sorting out the pattern, washing the material, ironing it, cutting out, assembling and sewing, all the ironing as you go... yeah, it takes hours, at least £50 in time, and then there’s the cost of the material and notions - and if it was your business you would have to factor in some profit, as you wouldn’t survive without it... I’ve probably offended some people who have asked me to make things in the past 😮 but I also made a nice nest egg when I used to live amongst the students in Sheffield 😊 making weird shaped winter hats out of fleece in the mid 1990’s at half the price of fancy branded ones! I love the idea of making my own knickers, so I could add a pocket as my body doesn’t work and I am blessed with wearing a catheter - it uses elastic straps that I’ve altered a bit and put cam snaps on it to make it a bit comfier, but I think a pocket would be much nicer... :-)
Thanks for the message, really enjoyed reading it 😍 I have 4 vlogs out now, my latest one has a fabric and sewing patterns giveaway launch- just a fun destash. I’m just editing my knickers sew along video, hoping to get it uploaded onto RUclips on Friday 🤞 I’m sure you could easily add a pocket to the knickers 👍🤩
Hello from Devon. Your broderie anglaise blouse is lovely. I really like that material as you said it is perfect for keeping one cool in the warmer weather. I have never made my own knickers but I do prefer high waist and I can only wear cotton as synthetic materials causes skin irritation.
Oh wow! I hope you had plenty of coffee to keep you company 😜😂 I watched your PJ’ vlog whilst on a car journey today (I was a passenger🤣) I love a quick sew between more involved projects 🫶🏻 I have a busy week with lots of family events then a week to myself so I will be doing the same as you - binge RUclips catching up 🥰
So admire you for launching this. Very brave. Like you been busy since May (moved house in April and had to give up my sewing garden room 😢) and have made 20 garments too. Also like you, been sewing for less than 3 years (after a break of nearly 40 years!)Look forward to seeing more from you- your makes are great.
I hope your new house has a nice space for your sewing! My husband wants to move once our loft conversion is completed but I’m really not keen 😩 hope you get settled soon 😍 xx
Well done... stunning dresses... video was great... always nice you get to know someone with the same hobbies... men are such cut ups... lol... I've subscribed n hope to get to see more of you n your beautiful garments 😊
Hello from a 56 year old in Texas USA. My birthday is also in 2 weeks. I think your pattern and fabric choices are wonderful and so elegant. Also, i wouldn't have been able to tell this is your first vlog...you're a pro already. I've only been sewing for a little over a year so you give me hope.
Thank you for your comment, how amazing to be connected to likeminded people from around the world! The sewing community is just so fantastically supportive and creative. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and keep enjoying your sewing journey 😍
I'm looking forward to the next video!! I love the shirt you are wearing, I'll have to find your insta feed to find the name. Happy birthday in advance, from Australia
The shirt is the Amaya by made my Wardrobe. It’s a lovely quick shirt to make. My second vlog is already up on RUclips. Thank you so much more watching 🥰
Hi from Australia Julie! Love the styles and fabric combinations. Congratulations on your first video and on your sewing achievements. Enjoyed spending time with you and learning about some new pattern sources. Thank you.
Hi Julie, I just found out about you from Sequingirlie Creates. I'm loving the top you're wearing. I'm sorry but I didn't catch the pattern name or company. Love the square neck dress. Love the flower dress. The birthday dress is lovely, color and fabric is beautiful.
Hello Julie from another Julie in Australia. Your vlog came up on my feed just now and thoroughly enjoyed it! I started Sewing after I retired in 2020 and while it hasn’t been a smooth journey, it’s definitely been worthwhile and I am starting to sew a couple of items that I feel ok to wear out in public! I love you style and the fabric choices. I am just about to have a go at sewing my own bra to accommodate my mastectomy and I suspect I may have to make some matching knickers! Looking forward to your next videos.
Lovely to hear you’re at the same stage in your sewing journey Julie. I would imagine a sewing hobby to be very isolating pre social media, now we can chat about patterns and fabric to likeminded people anywhere in the world. I’ve just ordered my first bralet pattern so maybe a matching set is on the cards for both of us. Happy to be connected with you 😍
Well done Julie a great first vlog. I have subscribed as I enjoyed it so much. I love your Seasons of East dress it along with Adele has inspired me to pick up the pattern at the Knitting and Stitching Show. 😊🎉🎉
Loved hearing about all the lovely sewing you have been doing. Please keep sharing your sewing adventures with us. I would really like to know more about the pattern you use for your knickers and any tips and tricks you have and making them.
Well done Julie, I really enjoyed your first video! Your makes are all lovely. I think the the viscose crepe fabric will suit you beautifully - the colours are gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing you next time.😊
So lovely to see what you've made. Both of your birthday dresses are gorgeous! You might need to do a costume change in the middle of whatever exciting plans Chris ends up making for you 😄 You did a fantastic job of your first video by the way!
Hi Julie - either of your Seasons of East dresses will be beautiful to wear on your birthday - strangely I also made one for my birthday and wore it out to dinner, I loved it so much that I have made another to wear for my leaving do at work!! Such a great pattern and well done on your first vlog x
I agree, keep your sewing as a hobby and stress reliever. It is a constant obstacle for me and I just say no every time. People who don’t sew do not realize the time involved. I have often said no but I will be glad to show you how and you know what, they never follow through. Lol on your husbands antics. Mine would do the same.
Love your birthday dresses! Why not wear one to lunch and the other to dinner on your birthday?I know you feel nervous but you are very natural on camera. Please keep vlogging.
No worries at all, you did really well for your first one! Love the top you made...looks so fresh, and the dresses, spot on. Have subscribed so will see you again! All the best Carolyn x
Congratlation on this new journey, I love your garments, tone of voice, enthusiasm you put into it. I would love to see a sewing room tour of your studio, it looks lovely and tidy, well done, keep it up. Blessings
Thank you Elizabeth, I’ve had so many lovely comments and suggestions for future videos, I’m completely blown away by all the support! a delve into my sewing room sounds fun! 🥰
Congratulations on your first vlog, I’m exited to see what you produce 😊 you are about the same place as me in your sewing journey so it will be nice to see what you do next 😊 love love love your sewing space, super jealous 😅
Thank you so much. It’s amazingly how many of us got into sewing during the early lockdowns from covid. I am so thankful to have such a lovely space dedicated for my sewing 🤩
I think the fabric threw me a bit as the leaf design runs across the width. Luckily the fabric is wide enough to cut on the cross grain. Glad you liked it 😍
What a great vlog, Julie, packed with fabulous information on your makes😊the New York dress is a stunner and I loved the way you styled it with a kimono belt… absolutely knockout❤might be stealing your idea😂😂looking forward to the next instalment😊
Ah yes, I forgot to mention the belt. I have been informed by a lovely lady on Insta that it’s an obi belt which I didn’t know. I added interfacing to it so it doesn’t flop when tied up.
Congratulations on your first vlog. Can’t wait to see more of your makes. I have been sewing for over 65 years but not brave enough to post anything. Good luck on your channel ❤xxxx
Not really, you never stop learning new techniques watching others, each time I think of an idea someone always beats me to it online. Others seem to experiment with new idea’s to make things simpler. I love watching to try new things. I could never teach my daughter could, she is more confident and a professional seamstress, its in the bloodline my nieces sew as well. x
Congratulations, well done. So admire you doing this. I picked up a metre of embroidery Anglia she from an op shop, you’ve given me an idea of what to make with it.
Your Seasons of the East dresses are beautiful! The more versions I see, the more I think I'm going to have to get that pattern. Congratulations on a great first vlog!
What a lovely video to wake up to. I can why you favour the three dresses you made. One day I will have time to sew more as retirement comes closer. Until then, I keep watching sewers like you who inspire to make plans💖 One thing I can share is a really useful tutorial from @thedressmakerscloset - search for ‘How to sew knickers the easy way’ - it made such a difference 💝
Fabulous first vlog Julie 🌷🌷 Beautiful dresses, wonderful fabric choices. Vlogging gets easier, but you're a natural so don't stress about anything. Have a wonderful weekend 🌺🌺
Fabulous first vlog. Well done you are a natural 😊. I like your style aesthetic and look forward to seeing you again. And I'm so jealous of your sewing room!!!
Thank you so much. Having spent my first year of sewing on a small corner of my dining room table, I really do love and appreciate having a room in the garden to escape to 😁
Please keep up these videos I’ve been wanting to make one myself for some time now but haven putting it off so much. Wear the koi one it’s absolutely fabulous on you hun. Xxx
