I use Pellon tru-grid number 810. It s one inch graph. I trace original patterns on it leaving lots on the edges so I can up grade to my size. This is a fabric type and I can sew it for a mock up. I ordered a bolt and love using it. I m getting ready to order my second bolt soon. Happy 2020 Joy.

Happy New Years Joy. Looking forward to the roaring 20’s. I just traced a pattern yesterday for the first time. When Fabric Mart had patterns on sale I bought several Cashmerette patterns, even on sale they are not cheap, didn’t want cut into them, plus now I can share them with my daughter. Thanks for the paper review, I purchased a roll of tracing paper from Amazon but I’m going to order the pattern ease today for the final pattern. Thanks again for all the tips.

Hey Joy, Mary here! It’s like you read my mind, no kidding I have paper in my amazon cart and was still not sure if it was what I wanted. My mom has the pattern ease and I tried that but wasn’t crazy about the feel of it, it’s hard to explain. I wanted to try the exam paper but was worried it was not transparent enough. You have saved the day, because I like you, shop like fiend online to save a buck. Anyway, I got my first Burda magazine and you have to trace the patterns as you know. I saw a dress from there and thought I might die if I don’t make it for myself. So up until now I’ve gotten by without good paper. Thanks so much, your thorough, expert insight is so, so appreciated always. I’m so excited for the challenge, what a a good time of year to have a project that is different to mix things up. I hope it’s something I will be able rise to the occasion for. Thanks again and happy New Year!!

Hi Joy, I just want to drop a note to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. You really do give a lot of value...how did you know I need tracing paper? Ha! I went to the grocery store and bought a large roll of parchment paper. LOL...Any one that may read this...Please do not buy parchment paper it's terrible. You can't see through it, it's only 18 inches wide...not good! I use it now to wrap meat, or for baking only. There is nothing wrong with being an affiliate or having your own Amazon store! We all shop online any way...It would be nice to shop at your store! (-: Happy New Year..by the way! God Bless!! Debby from Wisconsin.

I use standard translucent tracing paper (24”x50 yds for $30 on Amazon) for my initial tracing because it’s easy to make complex modifications like full bust adjustments with regular scotch tape and pencil (also very erasable). I recently picked up a bolt of the Pellon Easy Pattern for saving patterns I’ll want to use in the future, like my fitting shell or favorite bralette pattern.

thanks Joy, I just found Pattern Ease tracing material online here in Australia. $8 per metre, plus postage $8.95. I still want to try it out though. Up til now I have been using a material called Trace and Toile, which is cheap and good for tracing, but a little bit springy and melts if you try to iron it! :)

I've used vellum for years. In fact, I got about 12 rolls of it back around 2000 and am just about to run out of it. It's a little heavier, more like Glenda's. I just ordered more from Blick Art materials. I get the 36" wide, 50 yard rolls. Works great. Abi from Abi's Den talked about tracing paper recently and said that Swedish paper is just interfacing. That makes sense to me - it's lightweight and acts like non-fusible interfacing. And that stuff should be cheap! I also always go to Amazon and generally get stuff there because it's cheaper. I just found the Blick Art paper to be a little less. But it's hard to beat Amazon with Prime free shipping. I really like the doctor's paper idea - I may try that next.

Hey ty so much for this video ! I’m gonna have to just get some of this medical paper for tracing ! Now I have and use the Swedish tracing paper ! It’s very good ! I also have the easy pattern ! I have two rolls I got a great deal for as well ! I love to save also where I can cause let’s face it after buying fabrics and notions it’s expensive to sew ! But I still love to ! Lol so I wanted to add that if you ever buy stuff through Amazon a lot of times they will put brown craft paper in your box ! I am bad about holding onto stuff I get and finding ways to reuse it but if you even wanna make a sloper or you have like hand bags or small kids patterns you was use over it’s great it is almost as good as what they call oak tag /Manila that the fashion design companies us ! Not as has stiff but it is the most stiff and tuff ! Now I hope I am not being rude by mentioning this on here ! But I’m going to get and want this pattern ease ! However ! The link I almost added to my cart ! It’s 98$ but if you read the reviews from this one who is selling the same thing I’d bet you can get a better price ! But that listing shows 50 yards hon but this if you look in the comments it’s perfect yard ! Not the bolt ! I can’t believe that Amazon is allowing them to do this but if you read in the questions there they admit that the option is by the yard ! But it does say if you buy the whole roll it is 100 and something ! So idk ! I just wanted to tell ya hon ! If you can find the listing that you bought Abd list it I’d be happy to buy this through your link ! Idk if anyone has ordered this thinking it’s for the bolt ! But please check this hon and see if it’s for the bolt or by the yard or if that is an old comments and they fixed it
