Moving into our "new" home has become a not-so-happy occurrence.
    Major upset with Uplift!
ALL things work together for good, however, for those that love the Lord. And WE DO! Happy New Year my friends.

Moving is a trauma as we get older and there is always damage done. Nobody takes care of our property as we do ourselves. I hope I never have to do it again. You've had more than your share of problems with your move. I hope that you and Gerry are both soon recovered and able to get all the issues fixed. My husband went down with the flu a couple of weeks before Christmas and then a chest infection developed, which became quite nasty. He had antibiotics and is now recovering. I went down with it on Boxing Day and it's sticking with me for now and I sound just like you do. So, the New Year hasn't been exciting, either. It will clear up eventually. Wishing you a really good 2024 and every happiness in your new home.

Joy i wanted to suggest something that camw to mind, regarding your home in Kingston. Youre probably awate of companies that hild estate sales, and others that hold auctions. They come in and do all the heavy lifting and organizing and then sell your stuff. Just a thought...❤

I am older than you and decided to empty my house, sell it and move into a small apartment, best decision ever since my husband passed away. I’m a quilter too and moved a lot of it, gave away a lot and am still purging it. I do not miss all the *stuff* I got rid of, only kept the essentials to furnish the apartment. Don’t let it overwhelm you, God is with you. Hope you and Jerry mend quickly. ❤

I'm so glad to hear Jerry is doing better. I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but thank God you had two angels with you. My 23 year old son had an accident that now caused him to have seizures, and it is the scariest thing to witness when someone you love is going through a medical emergency, and you just feel so helpless and all you want to do is make them better again but don't know how to help. I always keep you and Jerry in my prayers. I've been watching you for a long time now and see you as family. I hope 2024 brings you both good health and extra happiness. 💓 🎉🎉🎉 Happy New Year!! 🎉🎉🎉

WOW Joy!!! I know exactly what you’re going through with the moving, as I just moved from being a full timer in a 40’ RV, then through a divorce, I had to move all my stuff to my new house and it filled up the garage! So, I would unpack some boxes everyday like you, but I don’t have a husband to take care of. I was so sorry to learn of his ordeal, but so glad your daughter rushed to the ER to check on him, and you. It’s not fun to move when you’re our age. I fully understand. The case with me was I had ordered a new modular home and it took longer to get it than originally planned. So I had to move from the RV to an Air B&B and lived there for 6 months, then I had to move again from there, as it was already reserved for the upcoming months, and ended up in a tiny motel room for a little over a month!!!! All of this has taken place over the past 2-1/2 years, and I turn 79 this month!! And my daughter helped me so very much, God Bless Her!!! And she lives a 4 hour drive from me! But the good news is that she has decided to move down here by me so she won’t have to drive that far, and I won’t have to take a train up to her place! Thank you, Father God! I truly feel for you, Joy. The important thing is for you both to get over that nasty flu bug you both have!!!!😢. So glad to hear from you! May you both have a wonderful New Year!

Happy and blessed 2024 to you, Jerry, and your loved ones and friends. No wonder you had an angel watching over Jerry and you. Goodness is rewarded with goodness, so much stress you experienced lately makes you both more susceptible to get the flu. Don't exaggerate with work in the house. It actually slows the healing process. Even when you think you are better, be careful and, above all, rest. My father was a doctor, and he used to say that flu is like a camel: it often has 2 humps, seems to improve, and comes a second time back. Men are often grumpy and stubborn when ill, as if it couldn't happen to them. Camomile and thyme tea with honey help relieve the symptoms . Chicken soup as well.
Your daughter may think, like many very busy medical people, that no news is good news. But she cares, and in the end, that is what counts.

My son lives in Bixby (just south of Tulsa) and all of the people around him are the nicest people around. Maybe you just need to take a deep breath and think positive thoughts on something
good cause it sounds like you have had such a terrible couple of weeks. If you want a break when you feel better, there is the cutest log cabin quilt shop just south of Bixby. Oh Joy it was so good to hear from you. What would we do without our sense oh humor. I am the same age as you. After my husband died 19 mos ago I was going to sell my house and move. I love my house and took a look around at all the stuff I would have to go through and decided to stay in my house. I’m so glad I did. I am trying to pair down my stuff in my own time. I am so glad to hear that Jerry is doing well. I hope you both are better soon. I have a Flexispot table for my sewing machine and I love it!

I don't know WHERE I got the idea you ladies had Uplift tables? Phylly had Flexispot. You have Flexispot. And I think Becky has Flexispot. Mine is fixed now.

I feel for you… I will possibly move next year and my son and I will do the work. Maybe hire some strong arms, but everything else will be on us. My son will drive the big truck, I will drive the dogs and cat. I am 68 but it does not matter… I have been moving my whole life, and like the feeling of turning a new blank page to start anew somewhere else. Yes, no matter how careful you are, there are always some damage, unfortunately…
Anyhow, this is a wonderful way to start a new year, and I wish you all the best for you and your family, health and happiness. A big hug from France

Hey, look into PODs. They drop off a container, you pack it to your careful standards, and then they pick it up and drop it off to your new location. We have used it several times and been very satisfied. Then you and your son can drive in your car, in comfort.

So good to find out what's going on in your life. Sorry about Jerry's experience. I'm praying for you. Oh, our Christmas plans all changed too. Family got sick, so my hubby and I were home alone but nice and quiet. Then I got sick just before Christmas...I think it was RSV, but I'm almost 100%!!! Thank the Lord. Blessings galore for 2024! Trying to finish Edyta's Tahoe quilt. New grandbaby girl coming in February.

Joy it’s so good to see you again, but I’m so sorry you’re sick! You’ve been through a lot and my heart goes out to you! My husband and I are also moving, he is 70 and I’m 66 and I must say it’s not easy to make such a drastic change when you’re older, but know this, Our God said He will give us the strength we need to get through no matter how hard things get! Hang in there my sister in Christ and keep the Faith! God will see us both through this. Prayers for you and Jerry are being sent right now. Know how much you’re loved. I wish I could be there with you to fix you some chicken soup and wait on you hand and foot while you rest and get well. I’m from Kentucky so I’m a little ways away! lol. But I would be there in a heartbeat if I could! Take care of yourself and we will all be here waiting for more videos when you’re up to it ❤🙏🙏🙏

Dehydration, especially in the elderly, can lead to a huge cascade of problems. My Grannie, and later my Papa just could not drink, eat, or put up a fight when they got sick. Fortunately they both enjoyed relatively good health, but I remember Grannie getting a urinary tract infection and it devolved into pneumonia because she just couldn’t drink enough fluids. Then the mucous membranes get dry and sticky, and next thing you know pneumonia.

Joy, God bless you. I have been in similar situations, i.e. moving at an older age with movers that are not to be applauded. I did not have an illness or a husband to deal with, so you are amazing! Oh my goodness, the trials of Job! Joy, I've been praying for you. I moved two years ago and almost went nuts. My hair fell out because of the stress! You should have looked into those Husky tables at Home Depot. Very affordable and well designed and well-built. You said it's only the flu, but remember, the flu can kill you real quick, so you slow down and take care of yourself. Tell Jerry to stop being so hard-headed. Don't throw out that baggie full of thread. I just spent $100 on about half that much embroidery thread, so keep it. Tammy loves you but no one can get on your nerves like your Mom. You are her magnet and she'll always be around. Will keep your whole family in my prayers! Sorry for yelling at you, but you had me worried! God bless.

Joy, right before Thanksgiving a year ago, my husband and I, both in seventies had the flu. He has some of the same issues as Jerry and he got dehydrated and we had to get him to hospital by rescue squad. So as you told your story, I was nodding my head and reliving that crisis. We live states away from you but such similar things happen to us all! Make sure you rest and hydrate and good luck with the move.
