    I'm glad that your video popped up in my feed, because even us old dogs can learn a new trick. I used to do something similar u til my patterns started getting ripped up from the spiked tracing wheel. I found a smooth tracing wheel after years of searching.
    Then I read the facts sheet on Pellon 830 and a new way of tracing my patterns was born. I simply it over my pattern and trace it with a ball point pen. Once I'm finished, I have a permanent, durable copy of my pattern. I'll incorporate many of your ideas because they're good. Pinning the pattern and paper together is ingenious!
    You're right about cutting up old patterns. Once they're cut up you can't put them back together.
    Yes, I've been buying multiple patterns in the same size plus the smaller and larger sizes, because when you lose or gain weight, the size you need might not be available.
    Ebay is a good source of older patterns. I've been able to get older, uncut patterns there.

    When I started tracing patterns I was working in an office. My boss let me keep the used carbon paper. Which I used to trace on to newsprint ends. I was mostly tracing for my kids. With multi sized patterns 3 kids different fabrics and a bit of imagination no one noticed I was using the same patterns. My babies are old now but the patterns are still complete.

    This has probably been the most well thought out method I've seen and I'll be trying it. I love the idea of using just a strip of the transfer paper as I do agree using larger sheets is annoying!

    I use the late Nancy Zieman method with tape wax paper (yes from your kitchen) tracing wheel . Just tape your body changes to your commercial pattern. Sometimes she taped loose leaf paper to alter the pattern .

    I'm really glad to have found your channel. I am very new to sewing and have cut out patterns, later regretting it. It's good to see how you trace your patterns without too much work involved. I am definitely going to put your process into practice for myself. I have issues fitting and this should be so much better than ruining a pattern that could be used over and over again. I have also subscribed to your channel. Thank you.

    I feel you. I gave up on pattern companies and make my own patterns with my measurements . I got so tired of having to alter /fit the garment after paying for a pattern.
    Pattern companies cater to sizes 2 - 8 and flat as an ironing board not women with curves!

  • @mariecabaneshucamis

      I will always have to do a bust adjustment and shorten the torso of a shirt or dress pattern, so it doesn't matter if I cut the bigger size or not.

    God , is it worth all that ? ( buying the tracing paper , the tracer , the red paper ,the tape, the ruler , the table with markings , the time , the original pattern , the fabric , ). A pair of pants in target costs $15-20 !??! Why ???

    • @needleandcurves7034
      @needleandcurves7034  3 года назад +18

      If it makes someone happy and doesn't hurt anyone else, it's absolutely worth it! Is everything you enjoy doing "worth it"? Millions of people sew and go through this similar effort! If you don't find this particular craft worth your time, that's your prerogative, but I think you should look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself the same question "God, is it worth all that? (watching the video, making a snarky, trolling comment, putting someone down for no reason, the time, defending an unnecessary nasty comment) Being nice costs $0 and zero time !??! Why ???"
