In this video, I share with you my trials and tribulations of trying to figure out the best way to do a dartless Full Bust Adjustment (FBA) on knits. I chose Kwik Sew 3766 because it's an easy t-shirt pattern with only 4 pattern pieces (front, back, sleeves, and neckband). I've also included a sew along and share some new skills that I've developed with regard to sewing knits. By the end of thi...
Cutting Slippery Fabric
Просмотров 5273 года назад
I have no idea why this video uploaded out of frame, but so is the way of life with technology. In this video I share my tips for cutting slippery or difficult fabric. For this project, I'm using a Talio Dali rayon poplin fabric that I purchased from Fabric.com. The fabric is described as 100% rayon with an ultra soft hand and fluid drape like challis (my son felt it and said, "oooh, silky!). I...

    I'm glad that your video popped up in my feed, because even us old dogs can learn a new trick. I used to do something similar u til my patterns started getting ripped up from the spiked tracing wheel. I found a smooth tracing wheel after years of searching. Then I read the facts sheet on Pellon 830 and a new way of tracing my patterns was born. I simply it over my pattern and trace it with a ball point pen. Once I'm finished, I have a permanent, durable copy of my pattern. I'll incorporate many of your ideas because they're good. Pinning the pattern and paper together is ingenious! You're right about cutting up old patterns. Once they're cut up you can't put them back together. Yes, I've been buying multiple patterns in the same size plus the smaller and larger sizes, because when you lose or gain weight, the size you need might not be available. Ebay is a good source of older patterns. I've been able to get older, uncut patterns there.

    I use the late Nancy Zieman method with tape wax paper (yes from your kitchen) tracing wheel . Just tape your body changes to your commercial pattern. Sometimes she taped loose leaf paper to alter the pattern .

    • @jimdrummer816
      @jimdrummer816 9 месяцев назад

      My mother would use newspaper for the alteration parts, but then who gets a newspaper anymore. LOL

    I feel you. I gave up on pattern companies and make my own patterns with my measurements . I got so tired of having to alter /fit the garment after paying for a pattern. Pattern companies cater to sizes 2 - 8 and flat as an ironing board not women with curves!

    I'm looking for a good full figure dress form. This looks good. With the padding, you can easily adjust if you lose weight. I need to lose weight, and having a smaller dress form under the padding will save money if I meet my weight goals.

    I'm really glad to have found your channel. I am very new to sewing and have cut out patterns, later regretting it. It's good to see how you trace your patterns without too much work involved. I am definitely going to put your process into practice for myself. I have issues fitting and this should be so much better than ruining a pattern that could be used over and over again. I have also subscribed to your channel. Thank you.
