    Love seeing your ideas and listening to your plans, Lorna. You sound so sure of your style, which is great. I'm such a procrastinator, I always mean to plan better. I am in awe of you jeans making confidence ☺

      It's definitely been a journey! Both the style and jean making 😊 I'm thinking of doing a video about the evolution of my sewing and style if that'd be interesting? It's really just trying things out and building experience 😊

    I think that low/no contrast smocking would make for a lovely textural shirt and would work with any outfit that you might want to put together. That said a folksy colourful shirt would be cheerful to work on during the long evenings of winter.

    Lovely inspirational vlog, thank you for sharing your plans. It’s certainly got me thinking about my wardrobe and knitting projects. I am knitting the festive blanket Rowan felted tweed by Martin Storer. Do so love a knitting project this time of year. I will check out your other blogs now ❤

      Ooh lovely! Felted Tweed is gorgeous, we have it at the yarn shop I work at a day a week and I'm always eyeing it up. I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊

    For your knitting pattern, I bet you would love either the Minerva Cardigan or the Forest Berry Jacket from Fabel Knitwear! Helene has so many incredible old-fashioned-inspired designs ❤
    I always love what you make! You suggest the best patterns!! Keep up the great content 😊

    I talked myself out of that floral fabric because I couldn't quite see what I'd make from it! So beautiful though and a dress would be lovely.

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  10 месяцев назад +1

      I did buy it without an idea of what it would be, which I don't normally do! I think a dress will work well though 😊

    @inMuro 10 месяцев назад +1

    RE: floral dress, do you watch rosary apparel videos at all? your dress vibes kind of reminds me of her style! She also has a pattern called the 'daisy dress' which kind of would work perhaps.
    It also made me think of the million button dress by daria pattern making.

    • @inMuro
      @inMuro 10 месяцев назад

      Perhaps you'd like this hack of her 'rosa dress' pattern as well, it looks so good with the ditsy floral: ruclips.net/video/9YIcUIV9W_E/видео.html

      Great suggestions! I haven't watched any Rosery Apparel, so I'll definitely check that out. I also think the DPM dress is just what I had in mind, thanks!! I'm wondering whether I'll wait to next year now, so I can work on some dungarees instead, but we'll see 😊

    One option for the fitted, round neck cardigan could be Ysolda’s Stockbridge. I haven’t done it yet though, but have thought of. 😅 Lovely plans, and I’m glad you included also your knitting plans. 🧶

    The first Liberty dress you mentioned is really similar to a pattern I have called the Sabrina Dress from Patterns by Brandi Joan. It's very The Vampire's Wife, I'm actually about to make it again (it was one of the first garments I made and I think I can do a better job now). It's quite short so I'm going to make mine longer, but I think it would look lovely as a midi dress too. No buttons of course, but the pattern you showed reminded me of it. I also think you would like Silversaga's patterns, she has a long v-neck dress that seems like it may be your style.

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  10 месяцев назад +1

      Ooh that's a good idea! The buttons aren't essential, and it's definitely the right sort of thing.

    Hello Lorna. As usual, I love your colour choices as they would suit me too 😊. I wonder whether the Deer and Doe Myositis dress or the Tilly and the Buttons Lyra dress would be something similar to what you have in mind. Also, regarding the smocking, I agree that low contrast neutral would be good. If you do it in white I feel it’d be a shame to do all the hard work of smocking and then not see it very well, I hope this makes sense 😊

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  10 месяцев назад +2

    Love your inspirational ideas. Love the quilt pattern you used. I’m interested in dipping into both the quilting and the dying of fabrics. Did you hand stitch all of it (including the seam joining ? And what is the name of the actual pattern that creates the stars ?

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  10 месяцев назад +1

      Glad you enjoyed it 😊 the quilt pattern is an ohio star - I've also made one in my patchwork pockets vid, though it's not a tutorial. I machine sew the pieces together, then hand quilt it to the filler and backing. I'll then hand slip stitch the last step of the binding on 😊

    What pattern will you use for your dungarees? I love both the Ready to Wear Patsy overalls and the Helen's Closet Yanta Overalls. I modify the Patsys to be fixed strap, as I find the drawstring top uncomfortable.

      I'm trying to decide between the Jenny Overalls and the Harlenes - I find them both quite comfy, but they have very different fits! I haven't made the Patsy or Yanta overalls before but they both look great, thanks!

    Wash the denim with Coca Cola and that will soften fabric. You may have to wash more then once.
