Here's how I rank the Shrek movies: Shrek 2 is the best, next is Shrek 4, then Shrek 3, & Shrek 1 is last. I know a lot of people say Shrek 3 is the worst, but Shrek comes off as too unlikable throughout most of the 1st movie & I feel Lord Farquad isn't as great of a villain when compared to the others.
RIP Steve Harwell, you truly did break the mold. What I love most about this movie, is that the entire film was meant to be one giant roast of Disney in general. eg. Farquaad looks like Michael Eisner, Dulock is basically Disneyland, fairytale tropes are challenged or outright reversed, and pop songs are used in place of original works in a musical.
In a sense, Shrek is basically like an anti-fairy tale genre, especially with an Ogre being the main lead who gets the girl while the Prince Charming and Fairy Godmother are the villains. In a similar sense, Megamind would be an anti-superhero genre, as it also focuses on who is typically the villain and flips it on its head.
Disneys Florida studio, which for a long time was a backup animation studio that did work the main Burbank studio didn't have time for. Then in 1996 Disney decided to focus all their energy on transitioning to 3D animation, acquired Pixar and started working on A Bug's Life. They basically told the Florida studio (their only remaining full-time 2D animation studio) they could do whatever movies they wanted. And the Florida studio, for the first time, got to produce feature films: • Mulan (1998) • Tarzan (1999) •John Henry (2000) • The Emperor's New Groove (2000) • Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) • Lilo & Stitch (2002) • Brother Bear (2003) Then in 2004 Disney decided to stop producing 2-D feature films altogether, closed down the Florida studio and laid off all the animators. Many of whom then got hired by Dreamworks.
I love the bit where Shrek and Donkey are making fun of Lord Farquaad. Shrek: Let me put it to ya this way, Princess. Men of Farquaad's stature are in SHORT supply. Donkey chuckles- I don't know, Shrek. There ARE those who think LITTLE of him. 😁😅😂🤣☠ Also, RIP Steve Harwell
@@Powerranger-le4up It's likely left over from an early draft where they did meet him face to face. But they did miss a bet when, in response to her "you could never measure up to Lord Farquaad", they failed to reply "I think that very few people actually measure UP to him!" 😄
Antonio Banderas makes a good Puss In Boots. Even though Puss doesn’t appear in the first Shrek movie, Antonio did a fantastic job playing him! Nobody does it better than him.
Ah yes, the film that put DreamWorks Animation on the map! Shrek is easily one of the most important animated films ever and it's easy to see why. There was no other film like this when it came out. This was a giant middle finger to Disney coming from the film's use of satire towards fairy tale stories. Also, the adult humor is just so hilarious.
Disney's Florida studio, which for a long time was a backup animation studio that did work the main Burbank studio didn't have time for. The thing about Shrek is, it wasn’t just an intentional jab at Disney, then-CEO Michael Eisner (whom Lord Farquaad is modeled after), or challenging fairy tale tropes. It’s meant to show not all fairy tales are meant to follow all these tropes traditionally in any way. Not to mention the fact that original author William Steig gave DreamWorks’ take on his book his full stamp of approval! He saw the film for himself and loved it before he passed in 2003.
The books author originally didn't want the film made because he was worried they would sanitize it and take out all the disgusting stuff. So he was absolutely thrilled to discover they made it even more disgusting.
20:23 "Is that a recipe book ... for the dragon?" I hate to be the one to bring this up, but did you ever wonder what Fiona ate all the years she was in the tower?
2:22 Did you know that originally it was supposed to open with an original song. They put All Star as a backup. The test audience loved it so much that DreamWorks asked them to sing I’m a Believer at the end
This is definitely a great Dreamworks movie. I remember having it on DVD with two of its sequels. Not only it has great actors such as Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, but it also has some good adult jokes that you wouldn’t really see much in an animated PG movie today. This is definitely an animated movie I would recommend.
R.I.P. Steve Harwell, Lead vocalist of Smash Mouth, for giving us All Star and I'm a Believer, two banger songs of the 2000s. Shrek is a masterpiece that's also has been an icon during the 2000s. I hope we get reactions to all the sequels, Tim. ^_^
RIP STEVE HARWELL.😢😔🪦 The fact that dreamworks made this with a lot of adult jokes in a kids movie wild to me. All of these flew over my head as a kid.😅
The original ending had an extra bit with Farquad singing "Staying Alive" from inside dragon. That part got removed from the digital copy of the movie.
There's a Mandela effect which occurs when Donkey says, "I've bet you've seen a House Fly, maybe even a (BLANK) Fly, but I bet you ain't ever seen, a Donkey Fly", I remember him saying "Horse Fly" before Donkey Fly, making for a hilarious pun joke, but now, its been changed to "Super Fly" which doesn't make sense at all. I've even done a v ideo about it a while ago.
My favourite moments of the films are: THE ALLSTAR opening, Shrek meets Donkey, Shrek and Donkey vs Knights, the 'I'M ON MY WAY' sequence, Shrek rescues Fiona, Fiona vs Robin Hood, Shrek and Donkey flying Dragona, Farquadd death, Shrek and Fiona first kiss and their wedding. Basically, everything of the movie I love.

This movie is my childhood, i still remember when i got scared of Shrek roaring at the ogre hunters , but still, it was a nice childhood memory nonetheless
You guys did an awesome job reacting to this! If you wish to there’s a filmed version of the actual stage musical. It gives you more details about Shrek, Fiona, and Farquad’s backstory. There’s even a song for Dragon. And if you like these kind of movies may I recommend Penelope. Stars Christina Ricci, Catherine O’Hara, Peter Dinkleberg, Reese Witherspoon, and more. And here’s a fun fact; it is actually revealed that in the sequel they were going to give the dragon a name but they cut it. The intended name was Elizabeth. 💚
when you look carefully, entire film and franchise is more or less big middle finger to Disney and this is why I love franchise, even third one is not up to first films and last one is... Sequel of this film is amazing. Best in franchise with Puss in boots and Last Wish. "Some of you may die, but that is sacrifice I am willing to make" - Spoken like true Disney CEO.
I remember when Shrek came out on DVD and i saw it with my brother at a friends house. I was 10 years old. It was the perfect movie and life could not get better. Shrek was truly peak hollywood for kids man. It was a time were every year we were more excited than the last one for how good the movies were going to be and we had Harry potter, we had Nemo, Spongebob movies, we got Aladin, Treasure Island, we got the big 3 of anime, we got Lilo and Stitch, we got the first seasons of pokemon, Digimon, YuGiOh and Dragon ball Z. It was PERFECT, PERFECT! I pity the kids today having to deal with woke holywood.
Before Shrek, the All Star song was first used in the film Mystery Men, highly recommended it. Even the official song shows clips from that film. It’s also a funny take on a superhero story, plus it has Ben Stiller.
And according to the spell, this is accurate 😁 because it's taking true love form had she fallen in love with a person she would have transformed into one herself but because Shrek is and orge that the form she takes

Shrek has great stamina. He outran Dragon while carrying Fiona and Donkey without getting tired and he walked all the way from Duloc to Fiona's castle without getting tired (aside from resting breaks).
Originally in early development of the first film they did use different actors to voice Shrek like they Bill Murray and Nicolas cage to voice and in around 1995 or around 1996 they did use Chris Farley as there choice but sadly he tragically passed away and they replaced him with Mike Myers as the final choice even when Jeffrey Katzenberg look at some animation to Chris Farley version he didn’t like it it wasn’t funny so he decided to change the story and Fiona was originally going to be voice by Janeane Garofalo but since Chris Farley died they replaced her with Cameron Diaz as the final voice for the final product

That scene when Donkey sings that song about having no friends... I don't know if I'm hallucinating or not, but I definitely don't remember any background music there when I watched Shrek in theaters, neither on a Shrek DVD I had when I was a kid. Did they add it later in digital version or I just never noticed it?

Алексей Колган настолько хорошо озвучил Шрека что его назвали лучшим Шреком в мире👍💯❗
Хотя его не сразу утвердили на эту роль .
Было не легко, но дело того стоило.
A timeless classic, with a perfect sequel.
That scene when Donkey sings that song about having no friends... I don't know if I'm hallucinating or not, but I definitely don't remember any background music there when I watched Shrek in theaters, neither on a Shrek DVD I had when I was a kid. Did they add it later in digital version or I just never noticed it?
26:47-26:54 omg what if it was the dragon 😂😂
Rest in peace Steve harwell 🕊️
