Galaxy Watch 5 Pro vs Watch 4 Classic
In this video we take a look at an interesting match up, which is the all new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro against the Samsung Galaxy watch 4 Classic. Despite the fact that we were looking to the all new Samsung Watch 5 series as the complete replacement or successors to the previous samsung galaxy watch 4 series, the galaxy watch5 pro shows up as a one off not trying to replace the galaxy watch 4 classic. Watch 4 Classic for me. Battery is not an issue, last all day. But let's just keep it real, most of us don't use the watch constantly as we do our cell phones. I may respond to text, but I'm not walking around making calls on my watch.
I just bought the watch 4 classic, and it's not so much the battery -- easily solved by turning off AOD -- but the charging times. Especially comparing to my also-recently-bought Huawei GT3 Pro, which with AOD on lasts as long as the Watch 4 Classic with AOD off. Unfortunately as nice as that watch is, the Huawei Health app is ass and barely integrates with anything, so I got a Watch 4 Classic on sale. The User Experience upgrade was astronomical -- workouts automatically tracked, logging for some basic lifts like bench presses, curls, and deadlifts, and seamless integration with my calorie-tracking apps.
I know for a fact that every lift day I'll be wearing the Watch 4 Classic.

Great video very informative I have the garmin fenix 7 it’s a great watch my only complaint with that watch is the watch face is quite dark even when illuminated. Graphics and brightness on the classic 4 is great. So got the classic four for day to day use. Thanks again for the video. 😊😎

I for one am glad the 5 pro isn't the successor to the 4 classic. I had the regular 4 for it's clean and sleek lines and when I saw the 5 pro, I immediately opted for it instead of the 5.

it’s possible disable bezel function to use it like dive watch or to track time elapse ? i mean = disable the bezel to dont go to menu when i turn or spin . I want that the bezel even rotating do not go to menu , i need to stay in pointers face to use tachymeter
Amazing review and amazing video. I've been on the fence with trading my GW4Classic for the GW5Pro. It's taken some time to get used to life without the bezel. The battery life IS amazing and helps for sure.

Thanks, that was very informative! I'm just slightly puzzled by the prices. Here in Germany the Galaxy Watch Classic 46 mm costs just € 215 as the Bluetooth and ca. € 250 as the LTE version (including 19% tax), while the Galaxy Watch 5 pro costs more than twice that. I just don't see the added value to justify this huge price gap.
Try looking for a deal at T-Mobile. In The Netherlands it's the best option. LTE version only.

Same. For me it feels like a waaaay to big gap. Currently in Holland the 46mm W4classic is around 180 euros. The W5pro around 350. I don't understand such huge pricegap between those two.
For that def go 4 but for me the 5 is cheaper with current samsung promo so i picked the 5 pro. Main perc of the 5 is it can fast charge and has a big battery.
I believe it's more that they're heavily discounting the Watch 4s to clear out their stock. Here in the Philippines you can order Watch 4 Classics online for under 200 EUR for the Bluetooth version.
Picked up the classic 4 42mm for 120.. will try it for a few weeks and see if I keep it or return and grab the 5.
I actually went for the Watch 5 vanilla. The long battery life isn't an issue since I don't use it for sleep tracking, and keep the AOD off (I use a Xiaomi Band 6 for sleep tracking). The Pro is really awesome, though. Great review!
i think they are useless... they can´t even track skiing because they also track the way you go up the hill by the cabin. They got good hardware but sport modes are completely waste of money , because they all track just lenght and heart rate. Garmin can track just decline, when u skiing, so u know real distance u took... This is just fuking marketing trap, i am really dissapointed by samsung with this piece...
@@Adam-yb1ot Eh, I wouldn't say Garmin's auto-tracking is 100% accurate, it's got its own faults. I can't tell you how many times I've done deadlifts and it's not tracked as deadlifts. Or triceps press--downs that it logs as curls. Or strict lateral raises that get registered as front raises. Front raises that get registered as lateral raises.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic detected my incline _and_ flat bench presses both as bench presses.
@@romxxii hmmm may be truth, i didn´t try them in gym but got really disapointed that they can´t do as easy things as recognising decline or incline in skiing for instance... They are really trash for that price i think

GW 4 Classic LTE update on May and now in September, while the GW 4 BT was always getting updates. Battery from 2 days went to 1 day or 22hrs since updates.
Maps stills opesn on Watch, even with Auto off, when starting in the phone... Samsung just fcked it up good!

I love the watch 5 pro. The battery was my turning point. I also have the non classic watch 4. It just felt like it was on the charger more than on my wrist. I was to the point where I'd charge it while I was showering or driving home from work. I welcome the changes.
Thanks for your answer from the last video. But, my concern is with the apps that I use while I run or walk. Do they need a new line? If they do, I'll keep my 22 ultra and run with it.
For Location specifically you don’t need a separate line given that either one of these has GPS and can push out signal that connects to satellite, that way it can narrow down your location. For the other apps that require data, obviously you would need to connect. Keep in mind that you also have 16GB of storage here so you can load it up with songs and what not

I think you should buy watch 4 classic because they are almost the same and no bezel
I was holding on for watch 5 classic from watch 3 but then was put off by no rotating bezel. Yet went with 5 pro for the battery. Miss d bezel but can live without it. Faster charging n 2 days min battery is a bigger gain n also 1 year additional software support.
Watch 4 owners have complained about the rotating bezel not turning as smoothly as the watch ages. All you have to happen is for some grit to get behind the bezel that you can't clean out. Watch 5 is sealed off from that, one less moving part to break. To me W5 is better for that & the various reasons you mentioned.

The classic 4 fire but dont make sense right now with the watch 5 being cheaper right now if u trade an old watch to samsung. Just got the Watch 5 for $260 instead of watch 4 at 380 at best buy atleast. Im coming for s3 frontier, so im sure I'll dig it. You can't go wrong with Titanium.
I was in doubt between classic 4 and pro 5. Bought the Watch 5 pro for €375 with a promotion. Got free buds live and fast pro duo charger. Then I guess pro was attractive after all. Agree?

Just traded my watch 4 44m to the watch 5 pro (silver) and the aaesthetic alone is what attracted me. I didn't go with the classic last year as I've read isues with the rotating bezel. They didn't need to change the processor because it works fine
Has anyone done a face bezel test yet? That is one of the amazing uses for the bezel, the ability to move it with my face when my hands are full. Let me know how that works and then I might consider upgrading. Otherwise, it's a waste of money for a mild upgrade
What settings are you using to get 4 days battery life? I get 3 days without AOD, 10 mins heartbeat, no GPS, lift to wakeup.
Kept it as is, didn’t wear it while sleeping, and with working from home, there wasn’t necessarily a lot of activity to record. I am currently doing a rougher testing this long weekend that includes high energy activities and I’m looking forward to seeing how well it does
@@IvanKam11 makes sense. Not wearing overnight saves 6-7% battery per night so watch can last upto 4 days.

You didn't mention the new temperature sensor for the Watch 5 series. We need Samsung to make BAND REPLACEMENT easier , please Samsung give us a NEW DESIGN for band replacement.
I've watched quite a few videos before and after ordering the 5 Pro. It doesn't seem too hard to remove bands to me. How often do you need to do it?

I am coming from the galaxy watch 2018-2019 the bezel is getting on the stiff side and was back and forth between the 4 classic and 5pro and I went with the 5 pro I don't miss the physical bezel I can see if you had Huge sausage fingers it could bee an issue ill bet someone will make a add on physical bezel down the road where there is money to be made someone will make it

Why do tech companies do this? Why couldn't they just add a bezel so we wouldn't have to compromise 😥. I'm considering just getting the Watch 4 Classic.
I think one reason may be that mechanical parts tend to wear more. I live on a farm and there's dust and grit all over the place so for me, the lack of mechanical bezel on the 5 Pro is a bonus.

no way they last 4 days... If you have on constant HR monitoring and always on display off, they can do max 2 days... (without any activity tracking which is in most modes useless...)
How you get 4 days..samsung say 80h. I struggle to get 2.75 days,minimum usage..

No reason to upgrade bar the temp sensor and design its the same chipset, they could add GPS back track feature if they wanted. Battery is an improvement , otherwise its a bit meh to go from the 4 to the 5

In my place the price different is more than 100$ so i get the classic. I can use that 100$ to get other thing
same the gw 4 (44) cost 123 euro , gw4c (42) 150 euro , gw5 (44) 280 euro and gw5pro (45) 470 euro. so i got yesterday the gw4 for the most value. i consider the classic but i dont want moving parts because i plan to keep it for many years.
I do a lot of swimming for me it’s impossible to get rid of physical bezel because when hands wet I can still control the watch without touching screen, with the 5 pro it would be difficult
It's waterproof so touching screen wouldn't hurt it
@@balben71 Thats not what hes referring too..if you've ever used a touch screen of anything, wet hands/fingers are useless when navigating.

😅, for some reason, these are built in a way where there’s a gap between your wrist and the watch, when you put it on, not sure why Samsung does that. I’m currently looking for third party bands to try to better the fit on my arm💪🏾

Samsung is the only cellphone company that follows Apple to much and need to do what the customers want are they are going to loose in the cellular game. Not to put the Rotating Bezel on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is a major mistake. They took away the feature that makes the watch the best. They need to fire the person who made that decision 😤 😒. Just like with there cellphones they took away the fast charging brick and just put their phones in a ugly box with nothing. Thanks Apple, I mean Samsung 😆 🤣 😂

I got the watch 5 pro it's a beast compared to my watch 4 classic
It is the same watches, same displays super amoled, same ram 1.5 gb, same storage 16gb, same resolution, same processors, same os, only difference is bigger battery capacity on watch5 pro and bezel on watch 4 classic...watch 5 pro also have saphhire glass and watch 4 classic gorilla glass dx+ there is no difference in practice exept battery life

Do you understand that battery life can be subjective with your use? With the right settings + subjective use you can have it last even week. What you talking about!?
Die Galaxy Watch 4 LTE ist absoluter Schrott. Meine Uhr überhitze immer sobald ich Maps aktiviert hatte. Nachdem ich die Uhr zweimal bei Saturn (und damit bei Samsung) hatte, kam sie zurück und fordert nun plötzlich eine Verbindung zum Mobile Phone. Damit ist die LTE-Funktion ad absurdum geführt (die benötigt man nämlich beim Sport, um nicht noch ein Handy mit herumzutragen). Die Uhr geht jetzt an Samsung per Wandlung zurück. Die Verarschen die Kunden offensichtlich. Gleichzeitig ist meine Uhr wieder nach ein paar Minuten überhitzt und kann dann nicht mehr benutzt werden. Juristisch hat Samsung keine Chance, wenn man Wandlung macht, weil eine wichtige Funktion der LTE-Uhr nicht mehr gegeben ist.
Zusammenfassung: never ever Samsung again!!!
I'm just wondering how many people actually sleep with a watch on. I just can't.
It took me a while to get used to it. I don’t do it in a consistent way, at least not Galaxy watches as they are bulkier. I did a lot with my Apple Watch, but battery was terrible
@@IvanKam11 I see, probably will take me a few nights to get use to it. Kinda like when I never wore a watch at all and then suddenly started. Now when I take it off I sometimes turn right around and put it back on without even thinking about it lol.
