From my experience here in Texas, many government organizations require you to do a shit ton of paperwork just to get the help you need.

man I own a vehicle been driving for years, I know how to drive but this is a nightmare. just give me my license and stop asking me for 6 hour tests that cost money, on top of that having to pay for the license as well. y'alls website is more confusing than anything.

Like for real they make it super hard for a citizen to get one and even more with covid.
I couldn’t get my ID for a while before COVID because they did make a big deal over every fucken piece of paper i brought in that they required and after COVID I got it easier. Now I’m trying to get my DL I already started the course for 24$

Ive been driving for almost 2byears without it just to and from work but im trying to get a new car so i had to take an online drivers course for about $30 and now im trying to schedule an appointment and its more difficult than doing my taxes

@@User-zl9pj sorry for the late reply, but yeah you have to take a 6 hour course if you're 18-24. I used driversed.com it was like $40. I did that & I had to watch a hour watch an hour video from the impact drivers website (impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov) & registered with the credential from the 6 hour drivers course. then scheduled an appointment to see a local DMV office but for me when I got there with my info I was given a permit & was told to reschedule for a road test. I never did & waited a month & my license came in the mail. I have no idea why probably because of the pandemic but I just rolled with it lol. Hopefully that was somewhat useful

Yes, I'm getting my driver's license now at 17 and I've been terrified for years, because years ago I saw my sister watching this test for 2 days straight, then she did this test, went to the DMV, came back because they didn't get some paper they needed, even though they brought a million things with them, went back the next day, came back again because something else was needed, went back finally did the test, then there was some complication or something where she didn't get her license until 6 months later, hopefully things go better for me.
I moved back to TX in 2009 after 9yrs and was in and out of the DMV with my new DL and it had my old DL # on it which I already had memorized.

Privatizing the DMV would just make everything more expensive. What we really need is more DMVs, and better salaries, so they arent cripplingly understaffed
@@hyphen8d725What are you saying? Throwing money at an already innefficent and bureaucratic system only makes it worse. In Connecticut, AAA is allowed to do drivers license renewals if they are non CDL. Typical time to renew a driver's license? 10-15 minutes.

Allowing "private companies" does nothing but to put essential services behind a paywall and lead to a predatory market. If demand is guaranteed, and a few companies have conplete control, they can do whatever they want to squeeze more money out of everyone.

My appointment is not until November and that’s just so they can check I have everything ready so I can take the driving course and for that it’s ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. This is ridiculous.
If you just did a driving test appointment they should’ve done the paperwork that day and given the provisional license. That’s what I got told at my DPS office

This video does not tell us about how to obtain drivers license - it simply retorts the paperwork. It does not tell about the process, appointment, tests, or fees.

How is section 3 different from section 1?
If you don’t have section 3 (c) please see section 6 (d) as well as documentation from subsection 2 ( a thru g) then proceed to section 1 then select either option a or b, after completion of these please proceed to section 4 and 5 through 8 to register to start the process for applying for a Drivers License, please note- finger prints, urine test, and one of 3 variations of DNA, and a copy of all your children’s’ birth Certificates or Adoption Records, will be required to be provided to an authorized DPS employee . When all of the previous requirements have been met you then be permitted to attend the dPS location of your choosing to start the procedures for applying for a Driver’s License.

I’ve been living here for 2 years w/ my NY DL and I’m only desperate to get my Texas DL now to keep law enforcement off my back.. but based on this shit I’m out of options. Vital check won’t send my original birth certificate due to some covid related delay. I have every other document though, what do I do? Just go to jail for being denied by their complicated ass dmv

Hello. So, I already have my driver license with a restriction (it is an under 21 permit but I am now over 21). It is still valid, expiring in two years, and I am only now going in to take my road test. Will I still need all of these documents, including proof of residency? And will I need to complete a driving license application again?
Also, at 1 minute and 42 seconds, the voice says "a previous year W-2" but the video says "W-2 from the current year." So, can I use a W-2 for the year of 2018?

J P maybe you’ve figured it out already but yes. First you have to register your car at one location. Then you have to schedule and appointment to transfer your license at second location 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️. In that order.

I believe so. When you finish your final tests of your online adult course, you can take the certificate to DPS and apply for an adult learners permit.
I just found out that to do your road test at the DPS, you dont need a permit. But, if you're planning on taking the road test at a local Driving School (some schools do offer road tests) you will need to get your permit first at the dps

You need to get a certificate in drivers Ed of minimum 6 hours then take the Young impact drivers classes before applying for the DL! don't forget all these NECESSARY STEPS!!!!! and don't forget the certificates to make it easier !!

Funny story so a few months ago I set up an appointment to take a drivers license test bc im already 18 and graduated, plus I looked up on google and it said if you’re 18 and older you are not required to have a permit. I took the online course before I turned 18 and I took the online test and I passed. So when the day came to take my drivers license test, I gave them my info etc… but they said I have a permit bc my certificate was “expired” but when they printed out my learners permit, it said DL and only temporary until this date etc. So I think they messed up and gave me a drivers license instead.
Does an 18 year old need a learners permit to do behind the wheel training?

JUST AN FYI--- if you have done you’re written in another state they don’t make you do it again in Texas. All I needed to do was get my permit in Texas then I got my road test done and got my license.

Short answer is yes IN TEXAS
I set my appointment for my road test and I passed. Then after I passed they gave me my temporary license and I got my final license in the mail 2 weeks later. As long as you have taken your writing test and have passed all the other documents you should be able to get your license the same day. If not the next day for sure!
You WILL need to take the test again but they will also take away your current DL for the TX DL if you pass and your driving record is clean!!!

You should try virtual drive Texas it’s very easy and it includes the written test and you have to do is complete 8 very long modules it take about a day take the test ...pass it then print the paper and your ready for the driving test
at that age you don’t need the written test no more 🤔

Its easier to exchange your out of state DL but they will take away your current DL for your new Tx one and if you have any car accidents in any other states they will also pull that information up and if there's accidents it'll be a longer process.
All these requirements and people still can't drive. Well maybe it's cause non of them actually have a license due to the complicated process.
