Awesome 9R! I wanna thank Bruce's guy Pete for helping me with my 850 Boost from South Side Sales. The sled is exactly what iv been looking for and I'm excited to get out. Wish I would have been able to meet Bruce and hang out with you Jesse! Next Time!! I Will Be Back. Will also be ordering everything I need from there. Bags, oil, hats... everything
oh yea!!!!! great peeps!!
love my 128 !!! I'm 1/6 studded too with some suspension mods. Rox guards and my risers are in the mail ! love to try a 9r but my 23' still makes me smile. punch lights are a must for this guy as well. even have the same bag & I love it even though it was stupid expensive
love it!!!!!
Thanks for showing this. I’ve gone between 121 and 137 for years and found myself more at home on the short rigs. Got my first now 129 last year. I think some of the long track popularity is just a trend that some people follow but have no idea what it means or what they’re doing. Of course there are those who prefer it because of its advantages and use it properly.
Yeah the short tracks are fun and nimble. i personally prefer teh longer just for bump bridgeing!
I love the videos talking about these unique builds and the advantages of them. Part of the reason why I wanted the storm on my 24 xc 850 137 isn't just for the track. It's for the different gearing that comes with it too. Got to ride it this past weekend finally and boy do I feel like I got a little bit of secret sauce with that sled. Lol It was hard to find a floor model with that track and gear setup!
all about what the rider wants!! if youre happy we are happy!
Hi Jesse and Bruce. Quick question not related to this video, but hoping you can help. I bought a used ‘23 SBA. I had the dealership swap from a 1.35” Cobra to a 1.75” hurricane as I plan to do a little more riding in the UP and wanted deeper lugs. I have no proof, but believe that they tensioned and aligned the track, but didn’t tighten the rear idler shaft bolts. One of the wheels jumped off the shaft and seemingly damaged the shaft. It was a pain to get it all apart. Is there a tip or trick to putting things back together without force?! I am NOT a sled mechanic. I am a RUclips mechanic.
youll have to loosen the track to be able to get the wheels back on unfortuantely. not an easy way to get it on there with the track at its tightened state
@ thank you for always replying to my stupid questions. I dropped the skid and got it all put back together. RUclips mechanic at work… 😜
Im a short track guy ,I wanted the 9r xcr but when I asked about trade in on my 23 xcr 128 with 730 miles on it (didn’t even ride it last winter) they said 10-11,000 they would give me, the few times I did ride mine it would have potentially cost me up to 6,500 bucks plus another 12 grand to pay the 9r off, I was basically left speechless, so I clutched and studded mine and I would really like to line my 850 up next to a 9rand see and see if it would really be worth a 18000 it would have cost me to upgrade, most likely not.
Solid choice. That 850 is gnarly anyways you’re not missing anything
I have a new rmk 9r with a 165x3.5 along with a xcr 850 TBH they are almost dead even in a race from a roll but the long track just lifts the sled off the ground I only got the sled because it was 5k off and live in NY near tug hill
What clutch kit did u go with?
Actually i did the very same. Couldn't justify it. New C&A Skis's , Clutched and Studded mine instead.
What are your thoughts on the Hy Gear Pro CC linkage kit? Is it worth it on its own with some re valving or should I go for the long tails as well? Should HY Gear do the valving or take my shocks to Bruce like I normally do?
always send shocks to Bruce!!! well start there. The HYgear linkage works so well by itself (with valving again because its needed). Then add the longtails and that is the ultimate. just up to you and how crazy you want to go!
Hey Jesse, have you guys ever experienced issues with the track clips rubbing the clutch side rail tip? Adjusting the alignment at the back doesn't seam to fix the issue at the front.. after reading the forums it seams like a few people have this problem and and it could be caused by a few things. Bent toque arm, drive shaft drivers centered in the tunnel ect. not sure where to start but the wear is quite aggressive. Thanks!
I have not heard of that. If I was to guess I’d assume the drivers are off a little?
What is all involved with putting the long tail springs on a 128? I imagine you order the light duty cross country torsions and have to trim them shorter?
If you Give Southside a call and speak to Pete he can explain all that is needed!
Short tracks def have theyre place. Especially one of this caliber, thats bad ass! Any update or testing results on the dynamix? 100# front springs with reprogramming of compression ratios etc?
running 100's up front and playing with some hard parts right now. will update later!
@JESSEJAMES322 i put 100's on mine and for obvious reasons it seriously delays and throws off the dynamix compression. Pete (southside) said someone is working on compression reprogramming?
are you guy's from northern ny? i feel like i have run into you more than once. could be somewhere on a trail or maybe you rented a cabin or room at our campground / lodge in altmar.
I am from NJ and Bruce is mass. I am always up riding tug so probably there if I was to guess
I appreciate and enjoy your videos. Would you and Bruce talk about track pitch (2.52 vs 2.86) what’s the benefit of one over the other? Is one stronger than the other? Thanks!
more bars to put studs in and more rows of lugs. more performance
@ thanks for the reply!
My XCR 9R is not broken in fully yet (300 Miles). It feels amazing and is very responsive, but I raced my buddies 2023 XCR 850 it is not quicker or faster. I sure hope is does better once out of break in mode. The gas milage is also much worse although each tank it has gotten better. What is everyone else seeing?
I have a XCR 128" with high gear linkage and there valving, what long tail spring would you recommend for a guy that weighs 235 lbs before suited up . I ride semi aggressive
im 220 6'2" 23' 128 I put XX heavy duty springs off a ski doo from accelerated technologies ( Canada ) also some dual rate front track spring from Quebec, love my set up. I tossed the springs in myself but took the sled to the shop for full tuning. night and day. google Accelerated technologies in buckhorn Ontario. give em a call they are super helpful and will give ya a part # over the phone.
for a semi aggresive you can go with the standard longtails.
@@JESSEJAMES322 is that the 18 lbs spring or the 16lbs spring would you have part number for the spring I need
as far as track length i rode 121's till 019 850 xc, put 1000 miles on it the 018 600 indy had to go, just liked the 129 better, now this past season 2 vr 1's with 137 track, only 500 miles on stock setting 6 days of riding in the same trail conditions, i'll need more seat time to compare. some corners sleds pushed other corners it railed but never going back to 121
all in suspension settings. we make 146 sleds rail corners. all about how its set up
@@JESSEJAMES322 so true thanks again for all you & bruce do
Guys good with his knowledge of history on track lengths and pitches 👍
Those 9R's sound great with a Speedwerks Comp 2 Pipe
Only thing that guys missing is some C&A skis
agreed!
Why 2.52 pitch ? Where does it help in the XCRs
2.52 has less rolling resistance than 2.86-up
does roll better and has more rows for studs and more lugs
Super tight where I live also 128 all the way.
How much for the very sled that you are talking about? I want one :P
every dealership will be different. if i were you id call SOuthSide and ask for pete. hell be be able to help you out!
Good Work! Seems like a sick machine. I still love riding my Rush pro-s
fun little sled thats why!!!
I ordered my 24 xcr650 with the 128 because I like to toss the machine around. I feel more confident with the 128
all about personal prefernece!
Doo MXZ-XRS 850 129 2" lug - is the ultimate short track... how do I know? cuz I ride one
Thx for sharing
thanks for watching!
How in the hell can you get that to hook ?
I have the same setup and it hooks like a monster.
All the old triples were 121 and I don't think you can argue they can be made to hook.
oh shell hook!
Best dealership around!
hands down!!
Is that the 75th anniversary model?
no this is a standard snowcheck model
Anyway love the videos man i just hope one day I could do what you do
I would argue that the 2003 firecat is the best 128” track out there
are you saying the track is the best or the entire sled is the best 128 made?
@ for a 700cc motor STOCK, thats 20 years old, and still hanging with the new sleds on radar runs 660’ and trail riding, I would proudly say the Firecat is superior for its time.
Now if you put all the aftermarket gear on it like this sled has, i truly believe the firecat would be the best for the 128” track class
Have you guys messed with clutching yet?
no but Will from Velocity Sled Performance is. Give him a shout and tell him i sent you!
There's a group of hardcore riders that swear by the 128/129 skids as the ultimate performance sleds.
And then there's everyone else who feels otherwise, and they are simply wrong.
hahahahahhahaha
If I was adding to the fleet, this is extremely close to how I do it! Slap some XCS on the front and it’s time to bogey
oh yea!!!!!
Count me in the short track crowd. In midwest wet heavy pack snow, short tracks with a tall lug do better off trail. I said what I said.
will be more nimble for sure
Yo Jesse can i ask you a big favor i really hat to ask you this but by any chance could you help me get my dream snowmobile before I graduate i started having really bad panic attacks and I can't get a job do to it and never worked a day in my life my plan was to get a full time job after high school but I can't do that because of the panic attacks i don't expect anything from you I'm just wondering if you could.
My dream snowmobile is a 2018 ski doo renegade x-rs renegade 850
9R is a pig on gas and oil and my xrs 850 destroyed it on trail...not impressive at all
Absolute pig I got 1700 miles on my 25 xcr 9r thing guzzles gas & oil like no other
@@thomaslipiska7285the oil is a good thing. The gas is the same as my titan haha. It's pretty bad. But I do smoke the do 850 like no tmr. The doo 850 are kinda slow though.
