Give the pilot a handgun, then we can call it a "Manned combat drone" 😕.........I'm sorry.
It's manned drone because it can revert back to being unmanned in a millisecond!
I strongly agree. To accurately define "drone"; A drone is an automaton or machine tasked with instructions that it completes on its own, whether air fixed wing, rotorcraft, ballon, land, sea or spaceborne. In other words, you don't have any knowledge to operate the craft whatever the vehicle it is, and the flight or operational controls won't let the pilot do anything outside the bounds of its programming. Just tell it where to go and what to do, and it completes the driving or flying, as well as what it does when it gets there and can return without any further intervention from its operator, just like the GPS-guided multi-rotor craft, full-autopilot planes, and self-driving cars, helicopters, ships and submarines.
The flight systems onboard RC multi-rotors completely insulate the operator from any need for knowledge or discipline to operate the craft. They are completely ignorant of any rules, requirements, or regulations. Drones are now given to adolescents and adults as a 'toy'. The POV technology now has created fear through stupidity picked up by the media in addition to gross violations of FAA airspace. Those people have threatened the entire RC hobby for the rest of us. They have awoken the FAA beast, who has been peacefully sleeping for a half-century when it came to the operation of RC aircraft. This is the last month to comment on the FAA's proposed ruling on this exact issue, so make your voice heard. www.federalregister.gov/documents/2019/12/31/2019-28100/remote-identification-of-unmanned-aircraft-systems

Doesnt the fact that its manned negate using the term "drone"?
No. The fact it's not autonomous is what makes it not a drone.
@@TravisFabel I am assuming when it's fully functional the "pilot" will have the transmitter, correct? If that transmitter was mounted in the cockpit (as in, stationary like a steering wheel), would that make it an actual air vehicle?
TravisFabel I agree, unfortunately the idiots at the FAA never read the dictionary and they deemed even a paper airplane with a steerable flap to be a menacing “drone”. Doesn’t even need to have power, just any remote control, it’s very sad... FAA: Turning responsible kids flying hellicopters/DIY creations into criminals, just sad...
It wasn't manned. it was controlled from the ground, and no one was in it. So what we saw in this video was a drone capable of carrying a person.

Yes, an electric helicopter with 4 props
Or more then 4 in there case

Drone (noun)
: an unmanned aircraft or ship guided by remote control or onboard computer
Graham Clawson take that faa
The military have drones that can be either flown with or without a pilot on board (still called drones). But if it can't be flown remotely, then it's not a drone.
@Sans Handlebars If it can't be flown remotely, then it's not a drone. Or it's a drone when flown remotely and not a drone when it's piloted.
I think you remove the word ‘drone’ if the person inside is flying it correct? Aircraft?
The person is just baggage if they're not piloting it. No different than a few bags of cement. Or in this case, a mannequin that weighs a few pounds.
Drone implies that it is "dumb" not carrying a pilot. Usually this means piloted remotely, but computer advancements have introduced some AI piloted drones. UAV is the term for unmanned aerial vehicle, usually they are synonymous, but sometime differ as in this case.
Perhaps the word redundancy would be more precise
SMART! YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. TECHNICALLY DRONES ARE DRONES BECAUSE THERES NO PILOT ON IN THE AIRCRAFT! ONCE A PILOT IS INSIDE IN CONTROL OF IT IT BECOMES AN AIRCRAFT, DRONE DONT HAVE PILOTS
Really the word 'manned' should be removed, as I don't believe the person is flying it.
A single failure of just 1 of their systems was 100% death for the pilot, just a single one, no ejection, no parachute no nothing, going down with the drone and you are done!
ruclips.net/video/q78IarkxWEA/видео.html
The drone in the link can still fly with faulty one or two, if I remember correctly.
There isn't a person in it yet. By the time they get to human occupied testing it will likely have multiple safety systems. I'll bet it could do a controlled landing with half of the motors/props disabled. An emergency parachute similar to what is common on ultralight airplanes could easily be fitted as well. Did they mention it is built around an actual Formula 1 monocoque?
Once you put a man in it is no longer a drone, it’s an aircraft.
In it?Or on it?

The boomers would never tune into this.
PandaGmail, not necessarily you could start of with a standard race car style track. And also the pilot would have to undergo a lot of training on a simulator,if I were the designers I’d mount a rotor-less version on a flight simulator platform with a giant hi def screen surrounding the entire platform, a dome screen maybe. It may be a while yet but it COULD be done!
Umm if it’s manned, then it’s no longer a drone.
Is drone synonymous with UAV or with multicopter because if it is more a multicopter then yea it’s still a drone, and technically it is not manned yet.

What Is Islam?
Islam is not just another religion.
It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
{ “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4)
Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him
Right on brother

Technically a drone is an unmanned aerial vehicle. So that thing wouldn’t be a drone itself
Technically yes it does, Unmanned also means autonomous in addition fly-by-wire the difficulty with this kind of aerial vehicle can't be controlled by normal means of flight alone. Since airplane have auto-pilot that also in a way counts as drones in my opinion.
The guy in the drone was not flying it. He was just ballast. It was manned in the sense that there was a man in it, but it is still unmanned because the pilot was not.

The use of an F1 monocoque is brilliant. Lightweight, aerodynamic, sturdy, and already designed and built.
The F1 monocoque is designed for airflow passing nose to tail, not for the airflow around a multi-copter, and really doesn't fit well for this usage case. If the motors rotated for forward flight it might be a but more appropriate, but still not ideal. The use F1 monocoque is really about marketing not engineering. It does look cool so it's served it's function.
@derestricted It "might" be impact resistant in this context, it all depends on how it's connected to the main spars and pilot seat/cage.
In aircraft design you have to really have to optimise everything for it's specific purpose, aerodynamically, structurally, weight, failure modes. it's very different set of things you are optimizing for compared F1 or any other car.
Just taking stuff from a F1 car isn't going to make it optimal for a multi-copter, it'll weight more and function less well. Your aircraft will be compromised because of it.
not good design for the way a quad moves. the back is unnessesary wide for flight and will cause a lot of drag. front is ok.
@@lrz98gaming5 You have fallen for the marketing. No structural component works on it's own, as soon as you take the shell away from the rest of the functional structure it ceases to function as intended., it's not the same thing anymore. You simply can't equate F1 monocoque on the F1 chasis it was designed for to a multi-coptor. demonstrator.
talking about the sound of it, then blaring music over the top so it can't be heard at all... just saying.
Welcome to modern videos. A reason to watch is to hear the thing (engine, exhaust, etc.), but they feature uninteresting music instead. (even Harley ads are guilty of this lately!)
Chill out with the music. We can't hear it.

Technically, a “manned” aircraft would not be a “drone.” Just saying.
Yea seriously. Unless the man isn't piloting and is just cargo. but then what's the point?
The head did not move at all inside of the drone, it definitely seems like it's the mannequin in there again and without a B-roll (video without cuts), this was a drone due to it being unmanned.
I'll wager it's something to do with the law.

There was no man in it. The guy sat in it just to show what an actual person would look like sitting in it.

Talks about how cool the sound is then overlays music over it..
This is all fake. It's a publicity stunt for a video game and maybe a Racing League. It doesn't fly with a person in it they didn't simulate the weight of a person in it. They have an old F1 cockpit, just add money. To carry the weight of the little guy that's in the video it would have to have much more powerful Motors much better bigger props and much much bigger batteries and it seems to me that the weight of the batteries is the big problem. Add the weight of a human and all of that other stuff and what would the performance be? No practical application. You may as well build a battery powered helicopter. This just looks like rich kids playing with Daddy's Money. All they did was create the illusion there was a person in it. I don't think I'll be back to this channel.
