    YEAH I LIKE THE KRAKOA ERA OF X-MEN Hickman brought the x men back into prominence. And the other writers continued the momentum but also telling their own stories and destiny of x the AXE event the sins of sinister and the upcoming fall of x are testaments are why the mutants are one of the crown jewels of the marvel universe

    • @ForEveryKindofGeek
      @ForEveryKindofGeek  Год назад +5

      couldn't agree more! I am bummed that Hickman couldn't finish his story on his terms, but the real silver lining to it all was how his collaboration with the other creatives became something of its own.
      I see it as the best of both worlds: the larger trappings of his grand sci-fi opera containing a grab bag of more personal self-contained stories.

    I think after inferno when she talked about the beauty of her “cure” she became one of the scariest and most interesting beings in the marvel universe

    • @ForEveryKindofGeek
      @ForEveryKindofGeek  Год назад +10

      Moira's a fascinating character, and the one caveat with this direction is I'm bummed we aren't getting more backstory with her. Her character was a great twist on a longtime Hickman trope, someone who wants to save the world in a really fatalistic way. I think a lot of her appearances post-inferno have been fine, but I'd really like to see what her journey looked like before.

    • @wdcain1
      @wdcain1 Год назад

      With Moira doing a full heel-turn and joining Orchis, I'm surprised her cure hasn't been a storyline. I guess the writers realize that would put the Mutants into a corner and so ignore it.

    Love the Krakoan era. The way you highlight the overarching themes of the different stories make me appreciate it even more. The fact that it still feels like there is much to explore, 420 issues into this status quo, is mind blowing.

    I like how you spin the highs and lows of the X-Lines into something that tells a bigger story. It makes X Lives/Deaths of Wolverine make sense if still flawed.

    • @ForEveryKindofGeek
      @ForEveryKindofGeek  Год назад +2

      Thanks! I definitely wanted to highlight X Lives/X Deaths since it sort of acts as the kickoff to this new era, and is definitely symbolic of the growing pains moving from Hickman's story to the X Office's. It's definitely not perfect, but stuff rarely is in ongoing comics with tight deadlines. And I like that even with Hickman gone, everyone pays tribute to his storytelling in their own way. In an industry rife with creative struggles, it's great to see something so shaped through collaboration and respect.

    Wait a second...mutant church? I thought Nightcrawler forsook his Christainity (despite having been in Heaven) to create a entirely new mutant religion. Did that get retconed or something?

      nope, that was part of the whole journey of Way of X. I don't want to spoil that run, but faith still remains a huge part of Nightcrawler's character and his titles

  • @cake6851

    Excellent video. Destiny Of X seems to be where the writers are truly working as a collective. Before it seemed like Hickman was there manager and they needed to run ideas by him. Now they are only accountable to each to make the story cohesive. Some do this perfectly like Ewing and Gillen. Others like Percy not so much.
    Also I'm really surprised you didn't get into judgment day. I think beyond sharing ressurection, it shows mutantkind are actually humanities' "new gods" as Magneto said. So it makes sense the Eternals another immortal race of superhuman would take offense to this because in their eyes these are just deviants.

    Very excited you continued this post Inferno. I know we all were trepidatious about the future when we had to sit through X lives/X deaths, but we got Red and Immortal out of it. Destiny has been a mixed bag, yet still more progress than Reign. While I'll always lamant not having Hickman still, I'm fine with Gillen and Ewing helping out. Surprised you didn't go into AXE more, figured that would be the break off point, but excited to see you cover SoS

    I want more Arrako characters, more vaguely Egyptian anti-heroes. I could also just do with a check in on Apocalypses all together.
    You know it's hopeful like the emerging literary form of Solar Punk, but without the trappings of the Utopian archetypes. In that way it is very much X men and something different, but just close enough to draw parallels.

    I really hate they turned Moria x into a villain because that was just a garbage idea from the very beginning and just feels wrong for Moria to turn against the x-men considering she’s the one who helped find krkaoa from the very beginning.

    • @ForEveryKindofGeek
      @ForEveryKindofGeek  Год назад +4

      That's a fair criticism, I wouldn't say it's the idea but the execution. Jordan White hinted that her turn had been plotted since the beginning, but I think X Lives/X Deaths was the point where everything changed, probably to accommodate the new stories the X-Office had planned. I think they could've handled it smoother, but that's just what happens sometimes.

      @@ForEveryKindofGeek indeed and honestly as a fan of the house of x and powers of X i never ever wanted moria x to turn into a villian especially become a cyborg because it just felt wrong on so many levels that it ain't even funny but just sad and depressing at least in my opinion.

    Great video. Your editing and presentation is top-tier. I can name content creators from the late '80s who can only do that with a staff. You doing everything by yourself is amazing.
    With all this talk how despite Mutants being more united, they're as divided as always. I find this to be a good thing. They're not the Borg, and allow for internal conflict while finding results. Krakoa's enemies being so united feels self-destructive. With so many HYDRA agents in Orchis and SWORD makes me wish the Red Skull would hijack their resources to try and conquer the world, or at the very least Ultron to reduce Nimrod and Omega as his drones. With all the talk how Titans (Mutants) need to die really makes me hope Thanos confronts them due to being a literal Titan.

    • @BlueBoboDoo100

      As a rule, any comics reader that says "ruined forever" shouldn't be taken seriously. Like, if X-men survived the Chuck Austen era and the San Francisco era, nothing can ruin them "forever."
      After over a decade of being sidelined due to movie rights, the mutants are finally back to prominence with more excitement and fan interest than I've seen since 2001. But if you just want the status quo to stay the same and mutants to be Inhumans villains forever, that's your prerogative, I guess.

    • @jamesedwardclard
      @jamesedwardclard Год назад

      @@BlueBoboDoo100 Chuck Austen didn't kill them all and bring them back as plant based clones, They're literally completely different characters now. They not the same individuals people have been following for decades. they are completely different entities who happen to look the same and answer to their names but they are frauds, abominations to god and nature. they are fake versions of these characters. if that doesn't ruin the entire thing I don't know what to tell you.

    • @baturalpdurmaz9272
      @baturalpdurmaz9272 11 месяцев назад

      Marvel survived from Mark Millar's god awful civil war event. So no this won't ruin anything forever and it's not that bad you all just want to stay in your kindergarden and never grow up
