Thank you for making this video. Hickman's Fantastic Four was an excellent return to form, especially after the circumstances and position the Fantastic Four were in due to Reed, especially during Civil War. It was also interesting seeing Spider-Man take Johnny's place in the Fantastic Four for some time after this. *Fantastic* video.
pretty hard not to with this. Hickman really had lightning in a bottle with this story. I'd even say it's hard to top when compared to his later stuff, he really tapped into the emotional core of the FF with this one.
@@ForEveryKindofGeek I started reading his stuff ever since Marvel announced he's gonna take the X-Men (I'm x-men biased) I love what he did there, except for inferno 😬 (i also watched your x-men hickman video, great stuff 👏)
@@grdytrinidad Totally understandable, from what I hear a lot of the plans for Inferno and beyond had to get remixed a bit to fit in with all the upcoming stuff. (I'm actually working on covering that next chapter right now shhh) That said, I always think Hickman has something interesting to say. It's been amazing to watch him tackle this once concept a thousand different ways and evolve it over time. Can't wait to see what he's got in store next.
@@ForEveryKindofGeek I’ll never forget my experience reading the run during lunchtimes in high school those were some of the best memories I’ve ever had back then
Thanks so much, Mattie! Personally I’ve been loving what marvel’s put out over the last few years. I’ve heard Hickman’s even working on something new for them so I’m locked in haha
Great video. I'm more familiar with Hickman's Creator-Owned work, butvI always hear about his FF run. I hope you make your way to East of West (w/Nick Dragotta) too!
One of the definitive runs of the FF and the beginning of Hickman's marvel magnum opus if you look at Hickman's first tenure of marvel shield secret warriors FF avengers and secret wars all those books separate but tell one cohesive story
It's been really fun revisiting each chapter of Hickman's work as I learn more and more about him as a creator. I had no idea that he was working at this scale, but even when you look at his earliest creator-owned stuff there's one throughline he keeps coming back to. It's fascinating.
@@ForEveryKindofGeek yep where it takes a writer months before they got something planned next in their books Hickman's plans stuff ahead of time I'm like what from symbols to little Easter eggs and his creator own work is awesome as well especially east of west which is my favorite of his works. You should cover that next
Someone did his homework! I need to read his Ultimate and Manhattan projects one day! East of West.... MAM, WHAT A BOOK! Could I maybe ask what Iron man book you referenced there in the beginning?
If you're talking about that one shot of Tony on the news, that's actually from the FF's Civil War run. I think it's from the tail end of Straczynski's time.
@@ForEveryKindofGeek at 2:24 you show 4 comics:Alias, Moon Knight the bottom, an Iron man book and Spider-Man the Other. I'm asking about that Iron man book.
@@DzustComics ah, got it. That's a miniseries called "The Inevitable," released sometime before Civil War and the Director of SHIELD run. That's actually one of my favorite modern Iron Man stories, but it's got some pretty heavy stuff.

HICKMAN'S FF run as a whole is hope optimism and boundless imagination personified and it also gave birth to reed's greatest foe himself
Is verbal support also allowed?
This channel is ridiculously under-viewed. Every part of the production is extremely well-executed.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
I've heard this is one of the BEST runs of the Fantastic Four and I'm hoping to be able to collect this!
Great job on this video, dude!

Thanks!
I love Hickman fantastic four it’s really awesome and tons of fun

I know you mentioned runs that happened prior to Hickman’s, but would I be able to read it without having to read the previous runs? 😄
Absolutely! Hickman’s run is super reader-friendly. I think he does a great job of pulling the book’s history in without it getting too confusing

Nope, but I have a video covering that series as well!
