This is the ONLY Fantastic Four run that made me care about the team and finally “get” their central concept. I love the way that Mark matured Johnny and better examines his brotherly relationship with Ben. Without a doubt, Ben is the heart of the team here. My favorite storyline is “Tag”, where they have to get their powers back, and the end scene between Reed and Ben is definition of friendship.
The overall problem with Susan is that she doesn’t have individual career outside of being a mom and a member of the team. Reed is a scientist, Ben is a pilot, Johnny is A mechanic, but Sue has no title to call her own. It’s always held her back She needs a significant career to breathe new life into her, especially now that Franklin and Valeria have been aged up in Dan Slott’s run.

It’s seems too much like Mary Jane. I would make her a medical doctor, like her dad. Plus, that skill set would come in handy for the team and just within the family in general. A different kind of intelligence from Reed. The comics should emphasize her life outside the team more often. Every time we see her, she’s always just taking care of the kids when not on adventures

One of the best runs of the Fantastic Four that went well with the movie, that came out at that era. When the MCU bring back this team , I think they’er going to build them up slowly because of the miss management of the last one. But this was one of the best run of this famous family of Marvel. If it wasn’t for the "FF" we would see the beginning of the Black Panther, Dr.Doom, Galactus, and Sliver Surfer , thank to the first family. I think Marvel is going to give them more substance in the MCU.

Sometimes you're Ben on a good day, or Ben on a bad day, sometimes you're flying like Johnny or being the badass bedrock of Sue, sometimes you're the smartest gal in the room like Valeria or a buzz with ideas like Franklin. And sometimes you're locked in a room with your own mind like Reed.

This Run was pretty much the first FF run i read so i have a bit of bias for this run but moving on if i have to say my favorite story arc in this run it have to be the Unthinkable arc (#67-70,500) being it give Doom back the vibe as more as a Ominous villain and give him a spine also this arc was very important being it set up the four powers switching and to lead to the Authoritative Action/Hereafter storylines(#501-512) them invading and taking over Latveria and also Spoliers
The Thing Death And them going to Heaven to find Jack Kirby who is God btw not kidding this actually happens yet it pretty weird and out there but i can unterstand btw i thought Doom's Unthinkable design influence the design in F4 World's Greatest Heroes being it more Gothic though F4:WGH is more close to the Classic Design. The Artwork to me is the best The FF have ever looked, the Late Mike Wieringo who return to work with Waid after Working with him on The Flash During the 90s.He is probably my favorite F4 artist ever. Also in my opinion the lighthearted cartoony art helps the contrast between the more darker stories that happen and also give it is own style distinct from the other F4 Runs btw i know some people don't like how DOOM is portrayed being he is not noble but to honset Doom not the most honorable person and his noblilty is medieval at best not saying he can't be at all but only doing if it helps his schemes and plans and he does respect people like Doctor Strange but only if they worship him or are equal and matched.

This was the first comic that really made me give a shit about the FF and I miss Wieringo's work every day.

This video was spectacular! I collected much of this run, especially the "God" issue, Unthinkable, and Authoritative Action.

Great video! I love this run. My fav is the FF taking over Latveria and Doom controlling Ben's body, that was scary.

I really liked Wieringo doing the art for Adventures of Superman around 2000-2001 (along with Ed McGuinness and Doug Mahnke handling the art for 2 of the other Superman titles, it was one of the best Superman eras, for me at least), and was disappointed that he chose to leave Superman, for the chance at drawing the Fantastic Four. Now, I'm glad he was able to work on his favorite characters.

Great video. Please cover the Hickman run on the F4 and the Future Foundation, the omnibuses are getting reprinted and it would be nice to have a great analysis of that run.

You should do the Waid flash run. It's about time that it got an omnibus. It's a fantastic run and really embodies Wally west and the flash .

Man I love the FF. Not sure if you’ve covered his run yet or not but you should make a video on Hickman’s FF!

Thanks for uploading another FF video. They are the first Marvel Superheroes but are severely underrated (the lacklustre films did not help). I am not fond of what Waid did with Doom. I know he is a villain but even for him, sending a child to hell was a step too far.
If you are going to make more FF videos, I love to hear your opinion on the John Bryne run.

I feel like Unthinkable works as a reminder. Despite all the pretenses of honor and nobility, underneath the armor is a petty man that seeks to destroy Reed over an event that was his own fault. That Doom is a man who will ruin lives and kill for his goals, with the people around him merry being sacrificial lambs to either destroy his enemies and achieve his goals. Reed has a family. Doom is forever alone.
