Victors story is touching to say the least. What an amazing Man. Telling his story with a beautiful smile on his face. As a child and through his adolescent years had to be incredibly tough. No Mothers love. No Dad to guide you through life and its many decisions to decide on. This touched my heart and made me realize a bit more how fortunate I was. Victor pushed through his childhood and into adulthood with out any visible scars. He probably had many on the inside but, it never stopped him from living the best he could with the cards he was dealt. Many people would have succumbed to drugs or alcohol. Victors story is very inspiring and, I bet he lived his life to the fullest. God Bless 🙏 this man and may he rest in peace.
It must have been rough, imagine all of the predators he encountered, I'm sure he had to mature fast. I bet if you talked to him as a child he probably talked and behaved very mature for his age.

i found the Victor Shiman story to be especially interesting. A mis-spelling of his surname name and less than adequate record keeping prevented him from discovering his birth family for decades. (He was actually born late on the evening of Sept. 4th, 1921 it later turned out, further complicating matters). He was born EXACTLY 60 years, down to the hour, from myself...one reason why I took an interest in his case.
I remember the samuel's ghost segment episode. When I initially watched it, I was a child watching it in my mom's brother's house. I was watching it in their basement living room alone, and everyone else was upstairs. After 15 seconds I was not comfortable and I ran upstairs. This is the first time I have seen all of it in several years. A good time too as it's 10:44 PM.

I was thinking the same thing. If it was a TV photo, the show or movie should have been determined, narrowed down to what was on TV at that time, I can't remember exactly when the photo was taken, but in those days people didn't have many channels so the number of things it could have been is limited.

The Great depression was so horrible. My dad and his brother's and sisters had to live thru it. My daddy remembers going days without eating and hearing his little sister's cry at night when their bellies would hurt from no food. They've even tried eating things that we shouldn't eat, it would make them sick, just to have something on their stomachs. I have an uncle, he passed away last year, my daddy's oldest brother and he had it the worst. He had a speach impediment and a learning disability from lack of nutrition when he was little. He almost starved to death. He went thru starving so badly and for so long during his developmental stages it was so terrible it literally made him disabled mentally for the rest of his life. People and kids would make fun of him and call him retarded and retard and he'd be ready to fight it bothered him so much for them to say that and make fun of him in that way. He was really smart about some things and it was absolutely not his fault he was that way at all. It was a very real thing in people's lives back then tho and lots of parents would walk out and abandon their kids or husbands their families bcuz it was too hard to feed everyone.
That's so sad I'm so sorry 😭 my grandparents grew up during the depression era as well and the fear of not having enough money never left them even though as adults they had enough money to live comfortably. My grandma had a severe calcium deficiency because her parents couldn't afford milk to feed her as a baby so all of her teeth fell out by the time she was 20.
@@ravenbaa7989 Yeah fr, tho. That's what you always find with uneducated impoverished people unfortunately. Just like in a third world country, the people will do the same thing too. I'm a mom, and I know that the parents have to be hurting watching their kids go without. It just isn't logical.

A viewer reported that Joe was hiding in a motel near Los Angeles. However, he escaped before the police arrived. After receiving information about his brother who lived in the area, authorities tracked him to another motel, where he was arrested soon afterward. He had been living there under an assumed name. He later told detectives that he was in the process of creating a new identity. He also told them that he had seen the broadcast and knew that he would most likely be captured soon. He was later convicted of the murders and sentenced to death. He remains on death row.
The Victor story is devastating, it's terrible that he lost his family over a simple miscommunication like that. A while back someone claiming to be his granddaughter posted on a forum that the UM team managed to connect him with a cousin in AZ and relatives in Romania who he regularly corresponded with. She said he wasn't able to meet them before he passed away, unfortunately, but it's nice that he found someone in the end!
Nice to know I'm not the only 80s baby indelibly scarred by the Samuel's Ghost segment. The whole thing is creepy, and the boy running out of the house, chased by weird sounds with the screen door flapping was bad enough. But that weird face in the window at 40:57 is what REALLY got me. WHAT IS THAT!? I still can't quite make it out. And it moves a bit once it's in the window. CREEPY ASF.
If that photo of Samuel was really a photo of a tv screen then SomeOne Would recognize him I would think... And the fact that no one in town recognizes Him ...maybe he was "Here" before their time...or They were to young to remember him, so many possibilities lol
The joe smith one where he attacked the homeowner after hiding in the house with the corpses was a spooky ass story...there woulda been another body laying there and i cant imagine how dude felt having to run through the door

Its Season 7, Episode 4.Unfortunately the Tallmann haunting segment is not here either because of legal reasons or the segment was lost. There are many segments that were omitted from the upload on here and elsewhere. Although the Tallmann segment was on the. Unsolved Mysteries"Ghosts" DVD set that was released about 15 or 16 years ago.
@@jeffhietala2602 thank you! If Real People ever gets released that show had tons of scary ghost stories, too.
The ghost segment that creeped me out was the season 9 episode 19 the smith family home ghosts. I can not find it on youtube.
They ended up making a Hollywood movie based on the Wyrick story and it was...not good
the scene with the boy seeing the ghost in the window at 40:56 always gives me chills
Victors story broke my heart I hope he was able to find his family I can’t imagine a little child all alone to fend for himself 🥺😣😢
It must have been rough, imagine all of the predators he encountered, I'm sure he had to mature fast. I bet if you talked to him as a child he probably talked and behaved very mature for his age.
It happens every day. Sometimes in their own homes, with their own families.
I think that Victor is exaggerating. A child that young wouldn’t have been left to fend for himself.
@@juliesprik9479 i can so see that you are thinking in a time that's (2023) times were different in (1929) it may even happen today i dunno i was never an orphan either. with today i think it can also happen if the orphan gets put with parents that mistreat them in any way and they pass from parents to Parents and than run away yeah i can see kids grow up having to fend to for themselves.

He didn't run through it technically he broke it with a sledge and then ran through it. However, the fact remains it was badass.

I'm glad these episodes are on RUclips I remember waiting once a week to watch this Show
i found the Victor Shiman story to be especially interesting.
2023 and 30 year old me is still here 😂🇯🇲. I used to watch this show as a kid. I also love how the ghost stories makes my head swell ❤
The music on this show was always top notch but the music for the Samuel's Ghost segment was amazing
I remember seeing the Samuel story as a kid and came to RUclips to see if I could find it. This is probably the most memorable episode for me
The Unsolved Mysteries site has an update on Victor's case:
""Solved. Records indicate that Victor's brother, George, passed away in 1967 and his sister, Emma, in 1987. However, according to his grandson, he was able to locate a distant cousin in Arizona and speak with them over the phone. He also learned that he had several other relatives in Romania. With Rose's help, Unsolved Mysteries, and other organizations, his relatives were confirmed with 97% certainty. Unfortunately, Victor died on May 16, 1995, at the age of 73 without ever meeting those relatives in person. However, according to his grandson, he died happy as he was able to locate "the people that he belonged to". His grandson has made plans to travel to Romania and meet the descendants of the found family members."
"He changes identities like most men change shirts" lmao
I was trying to find this episode bc it scared as a child.. started clicking around.. and I find it .. awesome lol
I love these episodes with Robert Stack. The others are so good as well.
If the ghost photo really was a picture of the television you'd think someone would recognize the face, actor, show, etc by now.
It kind of looks like former pro wrestler Jake the Snake Roberts but it's hard to really tell. A part of me wants to believe that it really is a ghost
It's the guy at 30:54 just close up in the dark.
I was thinking the same thing. If it was a TV photo, the show or movie should have been determined, narrowed down to what was on TV at that time, I can't remember exactly when the photo was taken, but in those days people didn't have many channels so the number of things it could have been is limited.
Could have been a random commercial or news interview with a nobody
@@fuckoff187 Exactly.
How sad for Frank. I hope the people who kick him out. Are burning in hell for treating him so bad. 😭😭
Child abuse. Plain and simple. They should have been thrown in jail till they rotted.
they have to deal with that on the other side.
I don't see how anybody who would do that could live with themselves.
As a music composer, I appreciate the work done over the bank robbery segment. Nice suspense consonence! 👍 Very Michael Myers sounding.
If only Frank's father had been injured 10 years later instead when Worker Compensation was established.
I love these reenactments, how do they do them? Especially the one about Frank during the Great depression.
Same way Hollywood does anything else... actors, costumes, sets, makeup, special effects.
yeah, its not like today
back them it was ALWAYS
about quality for the viewing audience 😎
But lol, the costumes in this one were terrible. A little boy in a denim jacket with zippers in the 1920s??
Dude... 30:55 I thought that dudes moustache was possessed by civil war soldiers...
That stache would have been unacceptable even back then😂😂😂😂
35:16 apparently ghosts maintain weight and stay fully clothed and a jacket as well I'm guessing it's cold lol
🤣
😂😂😂
Oh shit! I finally stumbled upon the episode of the slight glimpse from this Unsolved Mysteries episode for a commercial that spooked the hell out of me when I was 11yo! The part where the ghosts in the living room suddenly turn around at the same time to look at the camera and stand together really gave me the goosebumps at that time.
22:21 is one of my fav um segments because of the reenactment
There's an episode where Matthew McConaughey had his first acting gig
Yes...portraying a young man named Larry....killed by convict Harold Eugene Bell whom also was suspected of numerous murders abductions and molestations
Yeah he gets shot on his mums drive as the intruder wanted the car keys etc
Yeah, that was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part Three. 🕒

Did Victor or his kids ever found their extended family members?!?! His case was sooo sad! 😱
Records indicate that Victor's brother George passed away in 1967 and his sister Emma in 1987. However, according to his grandson, Victor was able to locate a distant cousin in Arizona and speak with them over the phone. He also learned that he had several other relatives in Romania. Sadly, Victor died on May 16, 1995, without ever meeting those family members. He was seventy-three. Victor and Francis Murphy's stories are two of the saddest stories from "Unsolved Mysteries".

I never could get any sleep at night after watching these ghost stories when I was a little girl. Now that I'm older, I'm not as frighten.
Same here
The Great depression was so horrible.
🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Well they should have stopped having so many kids
@@ravenbaa7989 Yeah fr, tho. That's what you always find with uneducated impoverished people unfortunately. Just like in a third world country, the people will do the same thing too. It doesn't really make sense, but they don't ever stop having kids. It doesn't make sense, and the kids just suffer fr. I'm a mom, and I know that the parents have to be hurting watching their kids go without. It just isn't logical.
@@ravenbaa7989 Oh shut up. Seriously. People had lots of kids back then. Your mother should have swallowed.

Thank you for the very informative update ..I hope his grandson can travel to Romania to see the rest of the family.❤️
One thing I learned from this show is the 80's were off the chain if you were a criminal
"JOE WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" I love this case because Joe was creepy!
CREEPY ASF.
I'm so sad about Victor not finding his family.
I'm glad Victor eventually found love, and had his own kids. :)
Ikr. The moment in the re-enactment when Joe Smith attacks Frank the homeowner is one of the scariest moments on the show 😨

Man, that Joe and Frank Allen fight /chase throughout the house scared me as a kid!! Ive always had a fear of people breaking into our house to kill us (lol I have no idea why) So this segment, sticks out.
Frank was treated callously and like a child slave by people who were meant to be looking after him. So sad he was kicked out at 9 years old and left to fend for himself. What a sad and lonely existence for a young child and man, those feelings of rejection never leave you.
I wonder what happened to those people that treated him bad
