What a good man Barney is. Leaving the clothes bought for him rather than to take them. And to be so dear searching for his sister. Maximum joy in his eyes when they finally saw each other.

Barney worked at a gas station which means that he had a boss. It could have been his boss or one of his customers who was aware of their situation. Those people would have known their names and they could have been the ones who sold that information to the unscrupulous unholy reverend. It didn’t necessarily have to be the mom who was at fault. Maybe she did report her kids missing but lets face it in 1941 how much help is a dirt dirt DIRT poor woman getting from the authorities??!!?? We may NEVER find out who was really at fault, but regardless it’s an EXTREMELY sad situation that grown ass people put those poor children in all for a dollar!!!

@@darcy3245 I have a friend who is a Washington state resident as is her son. Let's call them Rhonda and Aiden. Rhonda is married to a fellow named Dave. Dave and Rhonda were separated. David was working fishing boats in Florida and Rhonda was living in Washington State. They decided to reconcile, she went down to Florida with her son Aiden and they tried to be a happy little family again. But because of Dave's alcohol and drug use there was a dispute and Dave kicked Aiden which got child protective services involved. David had moved up to driving truck at that point more money. Rhonda was not a Florida resident yet she wasn't up to her 90 days. David was charged with assault on a child by the courts and child protective services. David took the company truck and disappeared the truck was found in Georgia. With David gone Rhonda had no income, with David gone she wasn't going to go to child protective services bullshit program because she was a Washington state resident and packed her car took her child and was heading home to Washington to start the new school year were her son was enrolled in school in Tacoma. CPS in Florida put out an amber alert on her. She has full custody of her son. In Barstow California California highway patrol pulls her over confiscated her son gave him to the CPS Florida people and Rhonda was sent on her way home to Washington no charges of kidnap no charges of custodial interference no charges at all and she still has full parental rights to her son. That is somewhere in the Florida system where she can't get phone calls to him. She is in Washington state fighting this. And nobody seems to know where Aiden Nichols is. She got a phone call from him last year telling her he's finding a way home no matter what. He's 11 years old he is a computer genius. And nobody in the Florida system will admit to having him. They've even changed his birthday by a month when you search the records. So you go ahead and say whatever you have to say. I know better. I have seen this first hand I have read the court paperwork. And the State of Florida kidnapped Rhonda's son. He was never a Florida resident. Nor was she. But you go ahead and call me ignorant which shows how ignorant you really are. Try to find Aiden Nichols in the Florida system. You can't. They kidnapped Rhonda's son. You can call me a liar over that all you want. Makes me think you might be part of it. How many times did someone go in there, and ask fo $20 worth of gas to get to work? Or a loaf of bread, pack of Bologna, eggs, and get it, and pay them on Friday? That type of store, store owner, doesn't exist today. I miss those ol stores. The ol men sitting around, shootin the Bull. It was a community center point. People today are really missing out on the personal service, a friend I'm the community. I'm glad I grew up before all this convenience set in. All stores were individually owned. Then maybe they felt ashamed and denied it? Seems like we’re missing some crucial parts of the story. I know the parents mentioned never signing “official papers” but under the table deals would’ve skipped all that documentation. The pastor probably labeled the kids as “abandoned” and acted as if he was a hero for “saving them.” That pastor probably made some good money providing cheap labor to the upper classes.

Really happy for Barney. I looked for someone for over 30yrs that I only spent part of 1 day with when I was 12yrs old. Finally found the person along with a few family members. It was like winning the lotto. Reached out to all of them just to say hello. No one even dignified me with a response. Certainly envy Barney's joyful reunion. Not everyone is that fortunate. You would think people would feel special to have someone remember them during a chance encounter from so long ago. Just.....not the case for me. Not sure what I ever did "wrong" to anyone. Lead a very isolated life. Try to remember everything...about everyone...always. Even attempt to look up kids I went to preschool with from time to time. People with friends and family are certainly blessed.
