3:06 Just heard from Thomas Mott and Josh on their podcast interview with Hunt, that the Cooper Dejean "celebration" is what the Defense does to essentially say "quiet down, not that big a deal, on to the next one" (paraphrased).
Last year felt like they were winning with smoke and mirrors and it was a house of cards. This year feels like a team that just keeps getting stronger and stronger. There is an energy and a joy. Also, it feels like the coaching staff is a strength instead of a weakness.
Thank you Chicago for giving us Jalen Carter. I wonder if you lose sleep at night I know I would. Thank you Giants for Barkley and of course thank you Titans for AJ I hope you all sleep good at night
@Whoareyouhmm nah, the 10th win last year was in OT against buffalo and they had just beaten the chiefs before that and everyone thought they were all that, nothing safe til a playoff win.
Like a month ago I said I was disappointed in Jalen Carter because we were expecting a game wrecker but we were only getting a “play or two wrecker”. He has really turned it on since then. He’s living up to expectations. Love this whole team. Totally psyched about Nakobe too. I really wanted him to be good. All of the Georgia guys seem like good dudes. I’m happy for them.
Keep playing Jalyx Hunt. Get him in games and it will pay off later when it matters most. Been arguing to get the young players on the field, especially defense, since last year and will continue to push it because it makes the team better.
I've loved the way Avonte Maddox has played in the past but he has clearly lost a step due to time and / or injuries. Wouldn't it make sense to give Sydney Brown a shot at the dime position given his great short area burst?
Last year we were saying “they can’t keep doing this and win” or “no matter how bad they keep pulling it out” or, personal favorite, “it doesn’t matter, a win is a win”
Young defenses seem to be taking over in NFL! Are colleges doing something extra with their defensive player training, or are better athletes being funneled into the defensive side?
Willingness to let the young players actually get on the field. Lots of existing players coming up on that old age. Offensive players have become overall faster in spread offense requiring young and faster defenders.
-the defese was ranked at the bottom of the league last year -they are actually running the ball -Jalen Hurts isn’t hurt -coordinators aren’t nervous or learning how to do the job. Fangio and Moore have their schemes and they run them like em or not it’s what they are going to run.
It feels different because of the way we are winning. And because the last year the defense was bad, but the offense was scoring enough for us to barely win
I’m going to be honest I won’t be done with last year until I get that full story. I know it might be 5, 10, 20+ years down the line but I am waiting for what really happened last year. that is one of the biggest WTFs in Philadelphia sports history😂😂 But I’m thoroughly enjoying this 2024 team.
I think we won't hear the 'truth' for a long time, because some it had to do with Kelce I believe if you watch the final 5 games or so, his heart wasn't in it, he made a ton of mistakes, and he was the one reading the pass rush. Then on the other side, something really went down with the defense, they all gave up, I would put money on it a lot had to do with Matt Patricia, we already knew Slay doesn't like him even though he said all the right things publically.
As for the slow starts, the eagles should just try running Saquon on the first 2 plays of a game to get into a rhythm rather than trying to outsmart themselves. Leave the plays for the fringe players later in the game when it would actually take teams by surprise. It doesn't seen that hard to just play your best player at the start of the game, does it?
Why would you not run Barkley to start the game??? Get him goin early and then switch to play action... Il take a 3 and out with Barkley runs but not these ugly passing plays
What's different? Well, Roob, they were terrible all year last year. The "collapse" was a mirage. They just started getting results that matched their play. So, we didn't win those games. Other teams lost them. This year, we are winning.
I don’t really care if the birds get the #1 seed. They say Goff can’t play in the weather but the Eagles can play in both. Barkley ran for 255 yards last time they played in a dome.
Reuben you mentioned the Eagles had alot of good DC's yes true... I feel like the forgotten DC was Emmitt Thomas....... he was great and had a good DC coaching tree.........Thomas gets overlooked because we didnt win long term........the next DC Jimmy Johnson won with all of Emmitt Thomas's players
Ideally you score 20 in every quarter but I'd rather start slow and come on strong, than put up 28 and have the opposition chip their way back into the game. Moore is reactionary and plans the rest of the game on what he sees in the beginning.
Not hard to put your finger on why for last year lol. They were swapping Defensive and offensive coordination last season all year long lol. Hard for players to follow when no ones leading. This season we have solid coordination on offense defense AND special teams 🦅🦅🦅
The Bills are good but, other than QB, in what area are the Bills better than the Eagles? I don’t see any. Even at QB, is Josh much better than Jalen? Their numbers are similar and Jalen does the same things that Josh does. Yeah, Josh has a better arm but it it so much better that it overcomes all of the other aspects of the teams that the Eagles have the upper hand at?
Problem with Slay at this point is he's not very healthy much at this point. Putting him on the field takes snaps away from other players stunting development. That's just my opinion.
The line on D get tired. All you need is a little hole and its off to the races. You need to understand there are some heavy men on the D-line. Number 1 reason 2 half is different.
I think the coordinators were a big cause of the collapse last season, especially on defense. Desai getting canned around this time just made the defense dysfunctional because they literally had to switch schemes to Patricias scheme.
Sorry, guys; but that BS about why questions in press conferences can't be heard was just lame. It's the 21st century. We have mics which can pick up insect noises in an open field next to a fecking highway; There is no reason mics cannot be set up to make reporters' questions heard.
NFL gonna fine Roob for criticizing the refs. They really don't like people talking bad about the horrid reffing, like if no one talks about it we all won't see it. NFL when someone says the refs suck: 🙈🙊🙉 🟨💸
This team isn't like 2022,so guys please stop with the 2022 sht,it's 2024 and the Eagles are playing dam good, and the guys, are having fun out there on the field,
Although I usually enjoy the show. I really detest the level of snarky underhand rudeness towards Dave from Reuben. Dave is a good dude, quirky and fun. Reuben acts like a jerk to him at times. It just comes off so hypocritical and awkward. Like come on man, STFU and give your perspective of the game, quit taking shots at Dave. It's a huge turnoff. Dave makes this show happen, Reuben, you are just the awkward sidepiece.
You and Rueben are non believers just doing it for a paycheck. Plus when we play so called good teams y’all automatically have it as a loss but yet here we are constantly proving you both wrong. I get along with Dave but Ruben is like Ebenezer Scrooge 😂
Can we all acknowledge that before 2020 the team in Washington was called the Redskins???? It should be OK to use their given name for the timeframe without snowflakes melting.
It feels different because of the way we are winning. And because the last year the defense was bad, but the offense was scoring enough for us to barely win

Chillllll
I like it.
Love that. These guys r on a mission
That's 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love that
That GA defense was historically great. It was such a smart move (with some luck) to be able to get multiple main contributors from that squad
Bro gets held on legit 75% of plays too
NFL needs to investigate referees as to why consistent blatant holding fouls are purposefully not called against Carter?
More than 75%
Especially when all the other big name DT get those call. Big lawrence wit the giants u hold him there throwing the flag I just don't understand it
It just makes him angrier and stronger like the Hulk.
Literally. Goes to show how dominant he is
Last year felt like they were winning with smoke and mirrors and it was a house of cards. This year feels like a team that just keeps getting stronger and stronger. There is an energy and a joy. Also, it feels like the coaching staff is a strength instead of a weakness.
💯
I think Jalen Carter is league MVP. He collapses the line almost every play.
I could argue a few guys on this team 🤣😤
Let him loose and we will see
Our drafting has been spot on the last three years just look at who are starters and dominating are
The biggest difference I see between Slay and Rodgers is that Rodgers is more of a willing tackler, but overall Slay is still better.
I saw a video of Jalyx Hunt earlier talking about Coop’s celebration. He said it’s a defensive celebration that means “calm down, we really do this.”
W 😂
I like that! 😉😉😉
Thank you guys for always being a bastion of sane, sensible football talk.
Thank you Chicago for giving us Jalen Carter. I wonder if you lose sleep at night I know I would. Thank you Giants for Barkley and of course thank you Titans for AJ I hope you all sleep good at night
Last season when they beat the Cowboys, Chiefs, and Bills seemed like huge wins at the time, even though we all felt like something was off.
Still crazy to think that team beat those teams. The talent was there. Idk what happened
@@Whoareyouhmmwild we beat those teams then looked like we did against the bucs in the playoffs lol...
Finally can we Lay to Rest The Ghost of the 2023 Team?

That tackle behind the los on Xav Flowers is one of the most impressive defensive plays I've seen in my life.

This guy is so good, it's ridiculous...
Carter is freak. He is just as good as Saqoun
I've loved the way Avonte Maddox has played in the past but he has clearly lost a step due to time and / or injuries. Wouldn't it make sense to give Sydney Brown a shot at the dime position given his great short area burst?
Those holding calls on Maddox. He’s getting beat and then grabs.
Totally agree. The few plays he’s in there, he’s getting beat. He seems toast.
What makes you think Syd can play in the slot?
Isn't Syd hurt?
Best pod
Absolutely love this podcast!!

huge win against the pistons for the 76ers

Our style on both sides of the ball is like a boa constrictor.
We just wear and wear on them all game long and eventually they can’t hold up nomore and that’s when we start running all over them and big plays
Having a defense makes such a difference, and the offense can still improve a lot
I dunno what the record would look like if we had a mid to bottom tier defense..
It feels different because of the way we are winning. And because the last year the defense was bad, but the offense was scoring enough for us to barely win
