The only caution I have on Travis Hunter and both QBs is they didn’t play against any Top Competition.
Kyle McCord who was very average at Ohio State looked like a Superstar in the ACC at Syracuse. Same competition played Cam Ward and their results were similar.
If these guys had huge games against Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Texas, Alabama, … then I would be more sure. But they never played any of those Elite Teams.

Shedeur holding the ball isn’t because he has a slow clock, it’s because he wants to go into party mode with the Colorado Buffs WR room. He had that type of freedom in that offense. In the NFL those are drop off passes to the TE for 6yd gain.

Field Yates can hope and pray that Shedeur slides down in the draft, but it's not going to happen. He was particularly holding onto the ball during the OSU game because he was only looking for Travis Hunter, who was being double-teamed. When receivers run the correct routes and he has adequate blocking, he releases the ball very quickly.

Travis is the best player-there’s no doubt about it. My views on him keep evolving, and this opinion may change again. But for now, I think he should be used as a full-time wide receiver.
    Why?
While he won’t get the ball every play, his presence as a threat on offense is a nightmare for defenses. Since he wouldn’t be the primary target, he’d often match up against the opposing team’s 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th defensive back. Create a specific package of plays for him and use him as a decoy in some situations.
Additionally, let him play on defense for about 10 snaps per game, covering the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th best receiver based on the package. While opposing coaches may try to tire him out by rotating in fresh receivers and running deep routes, he’ll still make plays.
Why not primarily use him on defense?
NFL receivers typically rotate to avoid playing every snap, whereas corners are on the field much longer due to the nature of the position. Playing primarily on defense could shorten his career because of the sheer volume of time spent on the field. By focusing on offense and selectively using him on defense, Travis can maximize his abilities and potentially extend his career.
This is just one of many scenarios, but I believe it strikes the best balance for his long-term success.

I agree with field and think the ignorance of Mel's argument against desperation shows just how desperate he is for actual knowledge of the NFL. The Patriots are beyond desperate at LT. You can see the desperation in all the RG's we have played this year. But these two being a little higher on the Tackle class than most gives me hope (it will probably be false hope)

Pats are desperate for O line help but they shouldn’t be so desperate that they reach on an OT at 4th overall, I’m all about taking the best football player available and none of the OL players in the first round could be considered the best football player available.. I’m a pats fan, and the last thing I want to see is them reaching on a tackle and passing up on an athlete because they were desperate for O line help (especially when they have 118m in cap space)…

Travis is not going to play 2 positions in the NFL for a couple of reasons. If he goes to the combine he will have to display that he can actually run routes, not sure that he will be anything special in that area. He is good at finding soft spots but you don't draft someone #1 because of that. Secondly, he will eventually sign a contract and his pay will be based on 1 position. If he is signed as a wr the team is not going risk him getting injured playing defense. If he is signed as a cb, and plays some wr he will not be compensated for it and the NFLPA will not fight for a different pay structure just for him. L Bell was a great example of this in Pittsburgh. I hope he goes #1 and I hope his agent talks him out of giving a team a bunch of free snaps.

  • @itsniceoutside85

Greeny nailed it. “He (Hunter) can’t be pretty and have a good personality in the NFL”. He won’t play both sides, if he is a WR he’ll play no CB at all. If he’s a CB he maybe play offense a little bit here and there, maybe.
Hes not the best WR. I feel like there’s 5-7 better WRs and at CB Hunter would be either 1 or 2 him and Will Johnson.

To me have him at both. He may end up as your best DB and your best WR. But do not start him as your every down at either. Have him in for your 3 and 4 wr sets and have some offensive packages for him and do the same on D where he is in in on nickel and dime packages and for critical stops if he does indeed end up being THAT GOOD. but let the man play both ways just limit the snaps.
i hate how the NFL can be at the same time the smartest football people in the word yet also be so limited in their thinking of how to deploy weapons.
