Eagles fan here, and it's hilarious to me that Terry McLaurin isn't even listed in the notable receivers that Quinyon Mitchell has shut down (he got targeted literally 0 times when Mitchell was covering him). McLaurin is 3rd in the league in receiving yards right now, and yet for some reason no one cares; I love it 🤣
The most frustrating part about watching last seasons Eagles defense was their incredibly poor tackling. I've been watching every Eagles game for the better part of 30 years and they were the worst tackling team I've ever seen. This season however, that's totally changed, a total 180. Vic Fangio deserves a lot of credit if not all for that turnaround. Of course guys like Zach Baun, Mitchell and DeJean among others have been massive improvements at their positions than what we had last year. It's been awesome to see
I forgot/blocked that out, but it made them incredibly frustrating to watch last year.
That was the real reason they were so bad last season.
We struck GOLD with these 2 corners and t think they will be the cornerstones of the Eagles secondary for years to come is insane...just imagine how great they can become given how far they have come in their rookie season!!!

Been watching for football for over 45 years. Haynes and Hayes, Dixon and Minified, Sanders and Smith but Mitchell and DeJean are rookies which us the crazy part.

The Eagles have struggled with consistency at their coordinator positions. When they have a successful season, they're usually scooped up to be an HC some place else.
Fangio has said multiple times that he has no interest in being an HC again and wants Philly to be his last stop.
Quinyon and Cooper are great but the real story is the front 7. The front 7 were struggling in the 1st 4 gamcoverd now they've figured it out
The front 7 does have a lot to do with it for sure. All the defense is missing is an elite edge rusher and they would definitely be one of the best Philly defenses in a long time imo

I can’t say that. If those rookies weren’t balling they front 7 wouldn’t be able to do anything, Baker mayfields quick passing game showed that after the bring 7 wrecked havoc on the saints

Zach Baun really is playing like the best Linebacker in the league right now and is definitely a huge cause in the eagles success what a steal he was for us
Good take. For context, during Andy Reid's tenure as Eagles head coach in 2002 they took Sheldon Brown (2nd round) and Lito Sheppard (1st round) (not their first two picks though, they had 2 in the 2nd and tool a bust safety in between) and had solid defensive backs for years because of it. Not elite, but very good. I like the sound of ELITE play in the backfield.

Sydney Brown is a safety who was playing really well as a rookie till he you're his acl late in the season. Other than that, your video was spot on

I would definitely give Vic Fangio the lions share of credit although the rookie draft class is excellent and their DLine seems to be turning a corner there are a lot of players here from last year and Vic taking this unit from essentially worst to first is incredible especially considering how long he has been in the league and how familiar his defense is.

The best rookie cornerback duo was Ronnie Lott and Eric Wright in 1981. That draft also included Carlton Williamson who was a safety so it was a legendary rookie THREESOME.
Man we talking about these rookies 2024 not those 1981 rookies
they have play makers at all 3 levels of the defense right now, its why everything is working so well for them.
