You gotta love Florida’s HP. They don’t have to update dispatch on speed, direction, cross streets and where they’re going. LEO can focus in on driving without distractions. Our son was dispatch for 5 years for FHP. Now he’s up in North Carolina where LEO’s must tell them exactly where they’re at and all the other info while on a high speed chance! Plus, he has more counties than FHP!
That's tough. We have GPS not only in patrol Cars, but in every single radio. Also when you call emergency numbers, the phone Is located And position indicated on the map before the ringin even starts.
Yea, most require a unit to constantly report traffic congestion, road conditions, direction of travel, and nearest cross street. Generally, this would be the responsibility of the #2 car in a pursuit, but in this case, being alone, it would be that LEOs responsibility to relay info to dispatch while trying to drive under stressful situations. Obviously, taking attention away from the actual task at hand. FHP mean business, that's for sure. I live in Tampa, so this was all very familiar to me.
He also doesn't have any back up.
I also spent the better part of 10 years riding sport bikes almost exclusively. I never understood why some of these younger riders choose to try to run.
