There's a lot of honesty to that. I worked at a car dealership temporarily and I'm very stingy and know what cars go for in the private market. I was terrible at trying to sell people cars. It's hard to be excited or motivated to sell a car that's 50% more than what.

Make the smart decision and drive it until the wheels fall off you can take that 400 / month and pay into savings or investments. Everyone pays off their car and rushes to trade it in or just buy another new car... Don't do it
I recommend you call your finance company and ask them about penalties. I asked about being in your situation to Toyota Financial. They said $365 was my minimum monthly payment. If I only owed $300 on my last payment and I paid it I would get a penalty fee for not making a “minimum payment” ($365). Thus, I would recommend just paying the car outright when it comes time to pay the next bill. Or call them if you can.
These people are fools. I own 2 vehicles and paid cash. Both were used and 3 years old with 6k and 12k miles and saved 50k by buying used. Paid all debt off. I pay cash for everything.I don’t owe anyone anything.
That’s crazy to have such a high car payment.
I just bought a 2014 c63 amg with only 27k miles in immaculate condition. It’s basically a brand new car imo. 6.2 naturally aspirated v8 for just under $40k. Paid in full, no payments. I don’t feel bad for these people.

My $0 a month car payment is feeling pretty good right about now😂
I have a 2005 jeep grand Cherokee with 95,000 miles on it zero car payments i’m very happy.
I’m so lucky I don’t have this mentality! I do drive a 17 Z06/Z07 but mine is paid off and has been paid off since I got it in 19. My daily driver is a 2013 f150 3.7 v6 long bed with 300k miles and cold ac and does exactly what my 2021 f350 platinum diesel that I bought before the craziness hit and sold for what I bought it for last year. There’s a old saying. Money talks, wealth whispers. Next time you see the guy in the cheapest model of a 7 year old car. Remember that. He’s either a quiet millionaire (or on his way to one) or just poor lol
Funny thing with any car is once the novelty and excitement wears off it’s just another car or truck!!! Then your stuck with that huge payment

Bingo, I tell my girls the exact same. People buy cars they don't need to impress people they don't even really like
and in a year when people are done looking its just transportation the same as any other.
Not me, I bought my truck brand new almost 20 years ago. I'll do some changes to it every few years to make it feel like a new truck again. I'm about to add clearance lights and black out the interior. Then swap to a 6 speed and build a 14 bolt front axle.

When exactly did humanity start regressing? It's funny how the illusion of wealth is all most people care about. I laugh when people criticize the car I OWN while I live debt free and they can't even tread water. It's called deferred gratification. I couldn't fathom a car payment at any point in my life...no thank you to enslavement. I was raised to not use credit cards, never finance a vehicle, and pay off your mortgage from an early age. I'm so thankful for the positive role models in my life.
Congratulations on not falling for the great FICO scam
Not everyone with debt is a sucker. Debt can be used strategically. My wife generates income, and I create assets. We borrow to build the assets that increase her income. We will be multimillionaires within the decade.
@FullCircleTravis I was referring to bad debt and people living beyond their means to be specific. I've had debt for assets, not liabilities.
It's a lot of factors but one big one is because of Idiocracy
Mine is $0.00. 99' Chevy Suburban and 2012 Hyundai Accent. They do the same thing as these cars.
Wow, the last time I financed a car it was a 89 Nissan Sentra. $201.94 a month. I just don't understand. I just bought a new daily driver for $2400 and put one week of work and about $1600 in parts, and now I'll drive it for the at least 6 years and 100k miles then sell it for around $2600. People sure know how to absolutely flush money down the toilet.

With payments like that, they damn sure better own a house already!!!
Um my rent is double those little car payments lol.
@PeterGriffin-924 Maybe you should live someplace more affordable. It IS possible. But they should already own a home, outright, before agreeing to those high payments.
Keep in mind some of these vehicles are upwards of around 80 to 100k brand new. Payments are always going to be high for something like that.

Now I have a Yukon XL Denali and 4 bedroom house on 3.5 acres for about the same monthly payment as a dingy 2br apartment in California. If you’re too stubborn to move because your ego wants to be able to say you’re from a certain city, I don’t know what to tell you.
@@martinvera4567 California has 30 million something people, that's 30,000,000 people. Very very very few of those people can actually afford to live there. Most of the states boarding California (that have cheaper areas to live) have maybe a couple million people in the entire state. Even if you look at the entire country we have 50 states, we can rule out probably about 10 of them as being too expensive. So we have 20 million people in California that want to move to a cheaper place. That's 500k people per state if they split up evenly. That would increase the populations of places like Montana or Wyoming by 30 or 40%. Do you think those economies can handle it? And that's just the people in California, how about the millions in Colorado where it's expensive to live? Or the millions in Washington state? Or Washington DC? Or New York? Or Hawaii? Or New Jersey?
People like you who say stupid stuff like that really don't understand. Yes, a few people can leave these high cost areas, plenty of them like yourself are doing that and these lower cost areas are feeling the affects of it because you keep raising the prices of our areas when you come in with higher incomes and equity from other places. These places that are cheaper to live are cheaper to live because of supply and demand, people didn't want to live there so few people did, then people started hurting by inflation and bad economies so they move to cheaper areas driving up the demand, buying all of the supply and making prices skyrocket pushing out people native to those areas. It got especially bad when these tech bros realized during Covid that you could just work from home so they moved to cheap areas and work for home not even participating in the local economy a lot of them bought 2 or 3 extra houses for rentals when they moved which displaced even more locals that wanted to buy themselves.
Like you do understand that right? You can't just move tens of millions of people out of high cost areas and expect the smaller communities they go to, to be able to support that influx of population. Because it's not just the people that would have to move it's the employers that would have to move. You can hate on California all you want but there's a lot of jobs there if the factory workers and retail workers and construction workers and small busines owners lost all of their employees they'd have to move their companies to other areas that do have people looking for work, which would be all of the smaller lower cost areas which then all of this money would move in building new factories and new businesses and grocery stores and then it just turns into expensive California again lol.
So while yes on a personal scale moving away to a cheaper area is a valid option, it is not a valid solution to the overall problem we're facing as a country nor will it solve the issue for the masses that need it.
My car payment is $0 per month, Nissan Versa, 2016, manual transmission, she's got 136000 miles, and still going. My second car payment is a 2004 Jeep Wrangler X, TJ series with 111000 miles and with a car payment of $0.
In most cases, it's not the economy holding people back. It's people who aren't good with money.
What they actually pay is between $400 to $800 dollars a month depending on the dealership they work for. The dealership pays the rest.
I hope everyone realises that the car payment amount is irrelevant information. What we need to look at is the interest and loan term.
If you are paying $2000 a month on 1.99% interest over a 24 month term you are doing better than the person paying $300 a month on 11.99% internet on a 60 month term...
If we could all afford paying $2000 a month for 24 months yes, it would be the wisest choice, but unfortunately alot of us just can't.
Lmao no one ever be doing 24 months let’s be honest 😂
