Lol Nicholson’s character said earlier in the film he wasn’t interested in having a family. Then, he ended up with an ex wife and a daughter. I also like how his one child was a girl, since he looked at all the other females with contempt.

This is one of the saddest though effective pieces ever in American cinema. It was an early look at only a fraction of the consequences the so-called "Sexual revolution" was going to bring. The punctuation of this slide show with Nicholson's character's little girl is BRILLIANCE. (And yes, if a certain presidential candidate's son's computer hard drive really does have 25,000 mostly depraved images mixed in with family pictures as is being currently reported, life imitates art once again. BTW, I know that guys who put notches on their bedposts have been around long before this movie. Yet the OPENNESS of the licentiousness here and its resulting ennui, and what that would come to mean for our culture, was something that this film showcased. It brings to mind the G.K. Chesterton quote: "Meaninglessness does not come from being weary of pain. Meaninglessness comes from being weary of PLEASURE."
wtf do you care about some elected person's son? Nobody elected his son. And the former president is the living embodiment of Jack Nicholson's character based on the audio tapes of him talking about grabbing women and sex with married women.
I know what you mean.....I'll never vote for current President's son again......oh wait I never voted him in office to begin with. But there are plenty of MAGA Midgets who voted for the Traitor In Chief in 2016 and will still vote for Traitor Trump in 2024!!!
The character Candice Bergen played was the college girlfriend of the character Art Garfunkel played. This scene shows Garfunkel's character that Nicholson's character was romantically involved with Bergen's character when they were in college, unbeknownst to Garfunkel's character. Carol Kane's character is just disgusted with how Nicholson's character treats women. Does this really need to be explained? Reading these comments, apparently so.
What the hell was wrong with the guy and the girl. Maybe jealous. They were each others firsts under a rainbow with a poem. the end. losers with no life. I thought the slide show part was awesome. When I remember seeing it before I dont even remember those 2 idiots in the scene. Everyone should do that. It might help point out for them if they have a pattern of bad partners.
What a great scene -- there is no way today's me too cancel culture blm Hollywood studios ever green light a script like this to be made into a major motion picture -- the arts are dead - the only folks who can say what they want with zero fear are rappers - nobody degrades women like high profile rappers do yet they get a free pass - SELECTIVE OUTRAGE

It is a shame that we don't have acting talent like this anymore.
Classic scene from a classic film!
It’s too bad the rest of the film is boring. What a difference fifty years makes. We’ve made so much “progress.”
Rest in peace, Mike Nichols, brilliant artist. Thank for posting!
Wow that room. It could totally pass for today, the 2020’s
With all the cold steel everywhere and all the dull colors? Absolutely.
Interestingly, Jonathan forgets all the women's names after Bobbie.
The best. Thanks for clipping/posting.

If you don't understand the sadness of Nicholson's character, then you are probably just as morally bankrupt as him.

That's how it went for my brother. He treated women like dirt and then ends up with 3 daughters. Karma

Because in the movie he is sleeping with her, and the whole time she is also seeing Art Garfunkle.
When Jack Nicholson says one was "a mistake" Candace Bergen is shown in the photo.
Interesting that the young lady in the next slide bears a resemblance to her.
And that's a slap in Garfunkel's face that leaves a red mark he wears out the door with him.

@Albacorewing We do. All of these actors are still alive -- just older is all.
funny and yet so sad at the same time
I just saw a comment that the relatively new British movie SIGHTSEERS ought to be the required activity for first dates.

Does anyone knows which music is it please ?

Hilarious!!
And simultaneously tragic. An empty, broken man.

I still never got what the big deal with this scene was. Why was the woman crying? Jonathan was just telling the truth.
They just don't make them like this anymore! Love to see a "feminists reaction" video for this classic.
Lets all go watch a slideshow
It's a lost art (that should remain lost)
@JanetWilliams01
Be that so, but among the young actors acting talent is extinct for the most part.
@4:53 He hooked up with Lois Griffin?
