      @@pennya.5892 Yes my dear- you are completely correct---I am morally bankrupt. ( please don't take into account that I attend church weekly and actually embrace and implement the 10 commandments, along with hours of weekly volunteer work, to say nothing of completely financially supporting my divorced brother along with his three small children for 4 years now, and paying his legal fees while he continues to battle his bitch ex-wife for custody ( she reminds me of one of these females that Jack speaks so highly of in the clip above), to say nothing of my struggling with the death of my twin brother this past year from suicide----along with all the other good deeds I perform on a daily basis to random persons and strangers. And just because I thought the clip was funny and allegedly dont understand the sadness that poor Jack embodies, then I'm morally bankrupt. ( ???? ) Mam--- try and have yourself a really nice day ! .....oh, and PS---Jacks character in this film is a PIG---but so are most of the females that he had' encounters' with as they were willing participants in the debauchery....

    This is one of the saddest though effective pieces ever in American cinema. It was an early look at only a fraction of the consequences the so-called "Sexual revolution" was going to bring. The punctuation of this slide show with Nicholson's character's little girl is BRILLIANCE. (And yes, if a certain presidential candidate's son's computer hard drive really does have 25,000 mostly depraved images mixed in with family pictures as is being currently reported, life imitates art once again. If not, I stand shamefully yet happily corrected.) IMHO, Garfunkel's final look at Nicholson which says what he doesn't vocalize, who he shared so many bawdy laughs with earlier in the film, is one of his best performances ever, music included. "Grow UP, dude!"

    • @kurtwayne1672

      BTW, I know that guys who put notches on their bedposts have been around long before this movie. Yet the OPENNESS of the licentiousness here and its resulting ennui, and what that would come to mean for our culture, was something that this film showcased. It brings to mind the G.K. Chesterton quote: "Meaninglessness does not come from being weary of pain. Meaninglessness comes from being weary of PLEASURE."

      wtf do you care about some elected person's son? Nobody elected his son. And the former president is the living embodiment of Jack Nicholson's character based on the audio tapes of him talking about grabbing women and sex with married women.

      And what was Carol Kane's character all about?

    • @gordeauxd
      @gordeauxd Год назад +3

      The character Candice Bergen played was the college girlfriend of the character Art Garfunkel played. This scene shows Garfunkel's character that Nicholson's character was romantically involved with Bergen's character when they were in college, unbeknownst to Garfunkel's character. Carol Kane's character is just disgusted with how Nicholson's character treats women. Does this really need to be explained? Reading these comments, apparently so.
