In this movie, Mike Nichols got movement into scenes that are static, like at the restaurant with Nicholson and Ann Margaret and at the end with Nicholson and Moreno, by moving the background. Why the background moved is not explained and does not have to be. BTW, in the latter scene, that was done on an elevator.
