in one of his videos, I heard him tell a waiting engineer that he was a truck driver. If something unfortunate happened, how would we know? I derived a great deal of pleasure from his work.

Those hoppers are known as "buffer cars" They are filled with sand and they are required between the locomotive and any cars containing a hazardous material. They are meant to help protect the crew from the hazardous material in the event of a derailment. Thanks for watching my friend.
@@PacificNWRailfan How interesting. Several other tanker trains I've seen don't have those possibly since they were hauling non-hazardous materials. I wonder if some train documentaries cover that? Thanks for the clarification, and you're welcome!
Hi Dave. Really cool action at Tamarack. I bet that the tanker train is up to track speed before he leaves the siding. I noticed that some leasing company was reclaiming their tank cars. A lot of graffiti was painted out. What with the change to daylight time this weekend, will we see more of the Builder? Sure do like Amtrak. Thanks Dave have a good weekend with family see ya brother👍
Hey Lou, It is amazing just how fast a loaded train can get up to speed. Do you know why they are reclaiming their tank cars? It will still be a while before more videos of the Empire Builder. It comes thru here (when it's on time) at 5:30 am eastbound and 11:00 pm westbound. It's still dark at those times right now. Usually the eastbound is the one I can catch during the summer as it starts to get light at around 5 am whereas the it gets dark at around 10:30 pm during the longest days of summer. Thanks for watching Lou.
I'm just having a difficult time to get any good footage lately as BNSF's traffic levels have dropped considerably and most of the train thru here, they are running during the night. Hopefully I will be downloading more videos in the near future. Thanks for watching my friend.
@@PacificNWRailfan more difficult to find time to watch railfanning videos over the past 5 months. Weather getting better, so I am trying to get out there to shoot some of my own. I caught L51461-20 and E25161-20 in the CN Holly Subdivision today.
Nice catch! I have a Question for you, I'm going to be heading toward Libby next weekend from Whitefish to railfan, Can you give me some good railfanning spots to catch trains? I only really railfan a 50 Mile radius of Whitefish and Am not use to Libby. (It's NewGuy)
Yes it was! Tamarack is almost 9600' long and judging by the way he stopped so close to the signals, I'd say it was almost 9600' long. Thanks for watching my friend.

@@dav0352 I appreciate that. I really don't know why they gave the manifest priority. I've seen dispatchers put a high priority Z train into the hole in order to allow an empty grain train to pass, so I gave up on try to second guess the dispatchers.
