  • Easily one of the most sensational games of the year, 18-year-old Gukesh Dommaraju, the World Championship challenger, showed up when his team needed him the most.
Round 7 of the 2024 FIDE Olympiad. A strong showing from China held India's strongest minds to draws. Except one. Gukesh would just not settle for anything less than victory. An absolute "Magnesian" endgame display from the youngster.
And if this is a preview of what's to come in the World Championship in a couple of months, we're in for one heck of a ride.
    Thanks for watching!

It was truly a treat to watch this endgame unfold in real time. No exaggeration: that was a Magnus-like display of endgame precision. Taking a 0.00 position and tightening the screws against a certified elite player, Wei Yi. Remarkable focus and execution with all the pressure on his shoulders.
