Good for him for sticking to 20 on the plane. That's a nice piece. Cooking with cast iron gives you your iron for good health. Mr steak restaurants, very popular in the 80s. Loved the flea market.
Love the show as always!❤ Cast iron.. its a great product and if cared for will last several "lifetimes"! No it doesn't make the food better, but cooking certain things on cast can produce a different result than using say "stainless" its also cool to have a pan that you know its 100+ years old.. and still 100% perfect to cook with. And as with anything else collecting certain things people just like!
Do you think maybe you could do a video at Goodwill, you've mentioned it so often that it almost has a certain mystique about the wonders that can be found there at such low costs, even when compared to flea markets. I'd like to see some of those character glasses that they have, for example.
I’m from the area. As a family we’d go there every weekend in the 90’s. It was a busy place back then. I wondered what’s it like nowadays, looks like a good variety. The Newfane Flea Market, which is up the road a little, was a tad smaller but had a more old fashioned, almost county fair feel to it. Thanks for the nostalgia!
McDonalds came out with some new ones recently, but resellers are asking ridiculous prices for them. I'm sure I'll see them at flea markets in a few years for $5 though.
When people say "well what will you give me for it?" I like to say "Well I can't buy it and sell it." I can't stand when people try to get you to put a price on their stuff. Good luck out there Tom! Thanks for the vids!
@@fleabittenadventures true. But truthfully I think it’s more or less the seller not caring about about a set price and are just getting rid of stuff and proceeding to ask buyers how much they’re willing to pay for it
For me with cast iron and the reasons I prefer the older ones, lighter to carry, smoother usually surface, hold there value, and nothing cooks like cast iron, easy and simple to care for. ✌🏻💚🙏🏻
I'd have been interested in that cast iron booth, as I'd like to get some, as I move out of using old style "non-stick" substances. I have some ceramic pans, and stainless steel. The ceramic I have, not too expensive, is not so non-stick, though I've tried better brands I just don't own yet. Besides the "lasts for generations" aspect of cast iron...conducts heat well, is non-toxic, and I believe it's naturally a non-stick cooking surface. Heavy for sure, but doable. I'm in the market...and rather than buy some random knock- off online, (like "A") I'd rather find some at vintage flea markets like this, maybe with some kind of heritage, quality. How'd the one you bought or your mom bought work out? Looked like a good grill pan.
I collected cast iron and filipped the stuff back in the 1990s when few people were into it. I bought a skillet for $40 and flipped it on Ebay for $375 in the 90s. Cast iron made by Griswold Wapak with an indian with a head dress is molded on the bottom are very popular. I kept only a number 8 Griswald cast iron skillet for cooking. Cast iron is great for frying, but do not cook on high heat. I would suggest buying stuff for resale to feed your hobby when you attend markets, get educated on some things you like, but not interested in keeping which you can flip..
Everyone has some cast iron for sale and it is good but the care important and requires dedication. This too shall pass like vintage brown furniture. The fun of looking never ends.
There's nothing better than cast iron for cooking Griswold and Wagner are the two big names that you want to look for there is a catalog for both it cleans up so easily once you want to clean it all you do is rinse it off and hot water while the pants still hot no scrubbing it's important to season it with oil all the pot is hot you can accomplish a cleaning if you would just put some salt in the pan and rub it around I have a big collection of it and I love it you have to be careful because some of these so-called Griswolds and Wagner's are knockoffs from China
I have noticed that things online are expensive these days. They are not cheap like they used to be. When its free shipping its not really free because they incorporate that into the price. I mainly shop at thrift stores myself and I get things cheap.
@@redwingscuj031 They will sell for peanuts if they are trying to build up their feedback. I bought a lot of stuff on ebay for a couple of bucks with free shipping.
I'm old and I guess I come from a different world but I can tell you right now the last thing I would be collecting for the future is anything made out of plastic that stuff can be duplicated and somebody's basement so easily it isn't funny with these very small 3D printers that they come out with today and the Chinese are into it big time with with knockoff toys that supposedly they're supposedly are old brand names.
At about 3:32 or so I think he was saying, "You want to give me your money, you want to give me your money." Old boomboxes are expensive because the ones made today all tend to have the same very cheap, very poorly made cassette mechanism with plenty of wow and flutter. Old ones are a must for good quality. When I see the words flea market it generally means that part of the process is haggling. If you can't haggle you must be in Wal Mart.
Love the Wilmington flea market..

Oh my gosh, my mum collects frogs too! I think she has about 700 or so, and always looking for more 💚
Wow! My mom doesn't have nearly that many. Maybe 30???
The plane resembles the Spruce Goose built by the eccentric Howard Hughes
That was my thought as well😊
It does!
This flea market was awesome.
Don’t fall backwards 14:20
Yeah, it was pretty good! It's just slightly too far for me to go very often. I'll probably go back next year though.
hope we can see your mum's frog collection one day. nice video btw. love to watch your flea market video
Maybe one day. Thanks for watching!

Morning All.
Those character drinking glasses were always fun to see. I don't think fast food restaurants do that anymore these days. Thanks.

Some people have items and don’t really know what it’s worth.
I should start saying that. It really annoys me when people ask me to give them a price.
I agree, but they really should at least do a quick ebay search to see what an item goes for.

Thank god you got to the Kmart when you did it’s closing in October it was just announced end of an era
Yes, but now I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to get their during it's final days....
"Worlds Largest Garage sale" in Lake George is coming up too.
I'll be there..
I would love to go, but that's way too far for me. I think it's about a 4 or 5 hour drive.

That went by fast😢
I believe your mom was right about the Beatles picture coming from an album. Likely Magical Mystery Tour album. Goo Goo Kachoo.
It was Sgt. Pepper's.
Yes, I think she was. Of course she had all these albums back when they came out, so she's the expert.
Tell your mom I love ❤ her please Tom
Dude you’re a creeper
Stucco Lodge in Bangor, ME is still open and operating.
The plane looks like things I see at TJMaxx. See so many rough cast or crude tin stuff there. Who knows.
