Hey Scoutcrafter we all love you.....We wont be mad if you don't do 3 shows a week! Don't kill yourself off early. You already went to bootcamp already!
Hi Scout, wow, I absolutely love that clock. I like the detail of the lamp in it so you can set the brightness very low so that you can see it in the dark but it doesn’t keep you awake unlike today’s digital clocks that seem to light up half the bloody suburb. It suddenly occurred to me why you get so many great pieces of really old stuff at your flea markets in the US. I think it has a lot to do with the way houses are built over there because it’s pretty normal for homes to have both a basement and an attic which means stuff can sit undisturbed for decades whereas in Australia most homes are single story with a low roof angle no basement or attic so we mainly get stuff that’s been stored in sheds with less than ideal conditions. As for the painting, hmmmmmmm.😂 Cheers mate, Stuart.
You never cease to amaze me, John. I, too have a fondness for old Telecron clocks. Your Model 711 was introduced in 1931 and discontinued in 1936 during the height of the Art Deco Movement. It is surprising how many of them are still running as well as they did when new. Lighted models are somewhat rare and sought after. Many of the General Electric clocks from this period were also made by Telecron. General Electric had a somewhat unusual partnership with Telecron and used their clock movements to a great degree prior to WWII. The porch light fixture will look great on the front of your house. Good score on that one.
That Telecron clock is something else! So on the 3 videos a week, that’s a Herculean effort Scoutcrafter and how you’ve managed that is beyond me. If there was an Ironman for tool restorations you’ve more than earned it!
Hi John. The clown painting is ... interesting! I'm with you, I can't stand ticking clocks. I find the mechanisms fascinating and have repaired them and even pocket watches but the ticking drives me nuts - to me it's like the Chinese water torture. Beautiful Telechron clock - thanks for sharing it with us.
The ticking is a reminder that you're not asleep but you know you have to get up in a few hours and go to work..........The ticking is maddening when you can't sleep...........I actually like the Clown but the background he used I find distracting and seems to take away...Then again in a dark stairway it might create the perfect effect but maybe a frame would make it all work better, yes I think the right frame could make all the difference.
This was neat! I was interested in the electric alarm clock restoration and history. I like the painting and it is a nice piece of art. Thanks for sharing this.
Great video 👍 Fantastic video from Elephant Trunk👍. Thought for sure you would come home 🏡 with the stamp machine or that GE Vintage Battery 🔋 Charger 🔌 😄👍. Those 🥮 pastries 🥐 L👀ked Delicious 😋👍. It also looked like everyone was having a great time there. Those 🚨 emergency light fixtures will be great to see on the show. Great price for that porch Lamp 💡. That too would be a great project for the show 👍. That GE Telechron electric ⚡️ clock 🕰 you got cleaned up beautifully,Fantastic job 👍! That was a great feature they had back then to let people know if the power went out that 🔴red dot on the face would warn you that the time you see isn’t correct . It looked like Tub O Towels for the win🔥👍, they are pretty Awesome! Again I think the clock 🕰 turned out Fantastic, loved how that Chrome finish shines and to see that vintage clock working and back in service 👍! Hope you can find the light bulb 💡 for it. Pretty interesting painting 🤡 🖼. I wonder what the animals and the cats 🐈⬛ would thought if you had that animated Mr. Frankenstein 🧟♂️on your front porch 🏡 plugged in? It is cool. Home Depot always has great holiday displays 👍. Great shot of Old Glory 🇺🇸 flying in the breeze. Well again great video and can’t wait to see what you do on Monday. Have a great evening and fantastic weekend! 😃👍👍
OK, Scout, no more tools, you've moved on to lamps. The BEST prof I had was a guy who retired to academia after a full career in industry. He was so old he had worked on the original GE traction motors. He came in one day with a shaded pole GE clock motor. He said what really pissed him off was that while they had the stock number listed, GE no longer offered a replacement motor . . . after keeping spot on time for 70 years, he had to buy a new kitchen clock in its entirety for want of a motor!
John, That clock is so cool! Love it. People either love clowns or hate em its a 50/50 deal. Art is an individual thing to me, what I like no one else does so thats how I deal with it, If I like it thats all that matters. You might have one done by him. Artists are known to re-paint stuff so they can buy some ham n eggs to survive.........Have it looked at,its on canvas so somebody did a great job copying it.
John we don’t really have flea markets in the Portland area. I enjoy watching you east coast guys going through them. I saw some pure gold in this video.
I would have crapped if you bought the Shop-Rite truck at the 3:55 mark in this video! Loved mine as a kid. That one is in serious need of some TLC! I have one exactly like it, but in better shape. That clock is gorgeous, looking forward to seeing it lit up! :)
I love that print! It caught my eye when you were filming the event. I’ve never heard of the artist but I’m a bit weird as folks like to say and I collect quirky things. Great find!!
Real nice clock. I'm suprised you don't pull out a collection of old hard hats. They are collectable in a quirky way. Also, I figured you for a Coleman lamp and stove guy. Would like to see some vintage lanterns and stoves from the '20s to the '50s.
Love that electric clock. Very smart features; and I've never minded a ticking clock, it reminds me of being at my grandma's house which puts me at ease... my uncle also had a big grandfather clock and those are also very comforting to me despite the loud chimes.
My mother had 10 clocks in our home growing up, every hour they would all go off and after a while you didn’t really hear them. When I started working and had to get up early and sometimes had to go to bed when I wasn’t really tired that ticking would drive me nuts.. 😂😂😂
John, the telechron cleanup came out beautiful. Hope you show it again when you have the bulb and can illuminate the face. That Frankenstein is sure going to scare a lot of little kids this Halloween,!
What a beautiful clock.. it reminded me of one i had as a kid... I found it in the trash 🗑️... It had paint splatter on it, but I didn't care.. it was my first clock and it was mine... I had it for many years and one day it was gone.. i don't think I've ever thought of that clock until seeing this video... My mother must have tossed it out when I went in service.. i don't know who got rid of more of my things, my mother or my ex-wife... S.C. Thx for the pleasant memories... Take care my friend and God Bless....
I was honestly thinking today about not having seen some elephants trunk footage for some time! The clown just scares me... Thank you for all your efforts buddy!
You gave me a scare at the end of the video there scout. I thought id accidentally face timed the mother in law! 😅 The arts not for me buddy, but thats the point of it all. Theres a lot of it and something for everyone. Like that horse at the beginning of your footage next to the mr machine. Im not particularly equine inclined but i really like those horse ornaments because we had one when i was a kid. And my auntie had turners hay wane on her wall. That the image i like even though some may consider it pedestrian.
357magdad would have scooped up the Barlow at the 1:40 mark - laying on the edge of the steak knife set. I bet he was yelling at the video screen - "Don't pass the knife up".
I had no idea that when it came to art, you were a "kinda sewer". Not really my taste but I can see where it could grow on you. That's the great thing about art, it affects everybody differently so as they say, "sau-zeech his own". I really like that clock also. It came out great.
Hi Scoutcrafter I love flea markets, antique sales, garage sales Antique stores. I don't mind sometimes if the stuff is expensive it gives me a reason not to take it home I am running out of space to keep it all.
I had a windup Westclox bedside alarm clock. The streamlined art deco one, not the cylindrical one with the bells on top. When I was in high school I used to drive by the Telechron factory a few towns over.
Porch light is nice with the leaded glass look. Matches your house. The telechron clock is also nice, and that's a great cleanup of this art deco beauty. The inventor of telechron and the follow up accuracy inventions was a genius.
The clock looks terrific. I did not know about Bernard Buffet. Tete does look sad. This reminded me of another French artist, Boris O'Klein who made a lot of dog related prints and watercolours. We have "Wait Your Turn" where the dogs are lined up to pee on a small tree. The print has hand written in pencil the French title "Chacun son tour". My wives father purchased this when he was stationed in France in the mid 60's. Dave.
Art can be used as a tool for many purposes, including: Social change: Art can be a catalyst for social change, awareness, and action. For example, public art can counter a history of invisibility and shape public sentiment. Communication: Art can be a way to communicate feelings, ideas, and arguments to an audience without using words. Viewers are asked to interpret meaning from imagery by relating symbols and other abstract connections. Education: Art can be used to teach communication and other skills. Healing: Art can have healing properties. Science: Artistic techniques can be used to visualize, understand, and disseminate the results of scientific research. Entertainment: Art can entertain people. Introspection: Art can take people from the everyday to a place of introspection and contemplation.
John, I am happy you found the beauty in the artwork. It is "striking". I hope it continues to bring you joy. Nice job with the Telechron Art Deco Clock! Very familiar with Henry Warren, he is our hometown hero here in Ashland, MA where Telechron employed many locals from the 1926 to 1993 when the company was sold like so many others taking their many technologies and the manufacturing overseas. I'm sure you can guess where. You have piqued my interest; I need to get a Telechron I can rescue too! Be well!
On the shows, do what you can, when you can, if you can, I for one will look forward to your shows no matter how many you put out, just take care of yourself. On the painting, its you, fits you to a tee, if your happy, I’m happy, thanks for the the elephant trunk tour, enjoyed it, thanks for the video.
Nice to see elephants trunk again man I would be in to those pastries like a mad man ha ha Great show John some great stuff god bless have a great weekend 🇺🇸🇳🇿🗽🦅🇮🇱🪖🦔🐕47
Thank You for sharing elephant trunk with us. I liked the picture and clock. The old clocks are the best. You don’t have mess with radio, volume and buttons to set it. It’s simple and I like simple and It looks great! Have a awesome weekend!
Very nice clock. Reminds me of the napkin dispensers in cool diners. I was rooting for the pile of Playboys and a Tonka dump truck. Nice video. Thank you.
They say "the beauty of art is in the eye of the beholder", or something close to that, anyway, this beholder would have passed on Tete and bought a toll LOL! But hey, each unto their own, right? Okay, enough ancient cliches for one comment.
Looked like a great time at Elephant Trunk. Those old clocks are very classy. Especially the Art Deco era. Good grab on the painting. I like it. Have a great weekend! 👍
Good stuff…BTW ever try rubbing the chrome metal with tin foil and water…takes off rust and fills in the pits with bits of foil…just roll some up in a ball wet it and rub…also where do you get tub of towels ??…🖖
I'm disappointed you didnt purchase the stamp vending machine. I can only assume they were expensive but Im sure you would have dont a fantastic job on them.
Mrs Magdad isn't crazy about the painting. She said one clown in the house is enough for her...
Haha pretty hilarious man!

Stuart- I think you are right- Here older homes had attics filled with great stuff! 😃👍

Hi Ed! I took a chance at $10. 😂👍
Concerning the clown, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The clown did look sad. Reminded me of the old Gary Lewis song. Good Luck, Rick

The French painting is fantastic. I love the clown. I think it’s really dramatic. What a wonderful picture.
I’m just relieved it wasn’t the jewel encrusted heels.😂
Once you started prepping us, I thought the fourth item was the vintage Playboys.
You know I was tempted to look through those copies but my GF would be like 😒
Hi John. The clown painting is ... interesting! I'm with you, I can't stand ticking clocks. Tool chest $40 was cool.
That was a gem of a box!
I love the clown painting. I would have bought it for my son if I had been there. Great video, thank you for sharing your experience
This was neat! I was interested in the electric alarm clock restoration and history. I like the painting and it is a nice piece of art. Thanks for sharing this.

John, the telechron cleanup came out beautiful. Hope you show it again when you have the bulb and can illuminate the face. That Frankenstein is sure going to scare a lot of little kids this Halloween,!
That's a very awesome painting and love the clock it took me back once again you always do it
Looks great. The little pitting here and there is the character of it.
The clock is fantastic! Looks like something right off my grandmothers nightstand. I love it ❤
That's a cool clock.

I suffer from coulrophobia so you lost me with the Clowns! Not scared of anything but them.
Those Playboy mags at 1:28 would have been mine as soon as I saw them. Now THERE'S a collector item!
Yes! They were classics!
When you said we would be surprised on your fourth item I thought you bought the Playboys.
I was honestly thinking today about not having seen some elephants trunk footage for some time! The clown just scares me... Thank you for all your efforts buddy!
Thank you as always I learned something…love the clown..👍👍👍
Great clock! I would have picked up that black tool box. Looked like a good one. I’m surprised you didn’t grab a toy cash register
Love the clock and art work.

That clock makes my underpants tight, also, The clown appears not to want to be a clown anymore.
Great stuff overthere. I 've probably bought the porcellan horse at the beginning. Thanks a lot.
When the circus came to town for me the clowns were the number 1 drawn .but today people are movies like it and act like a cobra was attacking them
The clock is cool with power out red dot hope you can find a bulb that fits
Larry- Monday!
That was a neat tool box. I'll be doing a video of one I just picked up here soon.

Great stuff.... Never liked clowns ... Always give me the creeps😊

Thanks John, I'm impressed, no tools, not sure I could manage that, love the lamp, and the light fitting looks a great buy !
Buen trabajo en ese reloj,Cuando le pongas una bombilla será perfecto.
Those big honking shears at 1:22 though

No offense, but I’ll pass on the clown. I love the clock though!
I'm disappointed you didnt purchase the stamp vending machine. I can only assume they were expensive but Im sure you would have dont a fantastic job on them.
I have one but a later model. 😃👍
All great items! What did you give for the painting?
$25
😮😮😮 no me gustan los payasos, siempre me asustaron de niño...

Yes- There is a point where clowns went from whimsical to creepy overnight! 🫣😂👍
Did you say how much you paid for the clock?
$10! 😃👍
fiber wheel..?
I’m not sure what’s under the plating, I’ve already ruined some items going deep only to create a really obvious damaged spot. 🫣😂👍
Clowns is weird.
Sorry, but I'm just not into the clown print at all. I fail to see the attraction of clowns.
Get your money back.
