@realdeal8607 There wasn't anyone there at the time to ask. In fact they were moving all the vehicles around us while we were filming They were getting ready for the Gala happening that evening. We asked them to wait 15 min before moving the Traverse so we could do this review. It was a bit chaotic.
Hi dears, thanks a lot for your very useful videos and information, I love you and follow almost all your videos. I visited the Motor show yesterday, but there are famous absent brand like Honda and Acura and the Germans and Jaguar? Do you know why?
Looks 98% like the 2023! But at least they moved the ultra-low-debris-catching headlights back up off the road. I've had to replace a headlight already at 7000 miles on the 2023. That's not covered under warranty! 🤬
Well I put a deposit down on an RS in Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. I have never ordered a new car without driving it first. I can’t wait for your drive video on this. I’m pretty excited.
You can’t build it on the web site yet but you can go into your dealer and configure it then put down a deposit and then wait a couple of weeks for GM to accept the order. I would think it’s better to order from a high volume dealer also.
You failed to mention that the shifter has moved to the column and they shortened the length which reduced interior volume. It is also lower than last year's model, except the Z71. Question...is the Z71 higher than the 2023 LT or just higher than the 2024?? I'm hitting pavement from curbs to dips in the road in the 2023. (We'll be getting slightly taller tires when they get replaced. )
I love the look of this rig. But the 2.5 4 cylinder as the only engine option would keep me from buying it right now. I opted for a new 2024 Cadillac XT6 Sport with a 3.6L V6. I personally prefer a 6 cylinder engine. But Chevy got the looks of the Traverse right for sure.
@@NooDLES411911 , near same horsepower so that isn’t the issue. I prefer the drive and sound of a 6 cylinder. And the more power one expects from a 4 cylinder with turbo’s makes me think it may not last as long. This is a personal opinion. I stand behind my statement that I prefer a 6 cylinder.
@@NooDLES411911 , oh hey… one more thought for you. A 4 cylinder (at least in the XT6 Cadillac and probably this one as well) is only capable of towing 1,000 lbs which is pretty much useless. The 3.6L can tow 4,000 lbs. So I guess race car it is for me. Or does that put the “Utility” in Sport Utility Vehicle? 🤔
No, you can't have your own opinion! Do your think this America or something!? There Kevin (say hello to Stuart and Bob for me!), I set him straight for you ! Hmmf, the nerve. 😂😂😂😂
Like the look. I’ve had 4 different Traverses. The shift on the column will take a little getting use to. Also surprised about the back seats not adjustable.
Our test model at the show didn't have the ability to move the second row seats forward and back but you can do it. I wonder if Chevrolet removed the feature for the auto show so people can't adjust the seats.
Anyone over 40 or who has driven a truck is used to the old column shifters. It's all electric. I don't think it matters where the buttons or twist knobs are anymore.
I want to say you both are wonderful. The new Traverse is beautiful inside and out. With the announcement by GM to bring plug in hybrids to North America I wonder if the Traverse will receive a PHEV Engine. Just imagine the 2.5 Turbo receiving an Electric Motor to increase the combined power closer to 400 hp. What do you both think?
Hey Zack & Andrea, glad to see this review. Waiting for your detailed review for this baby Tahoe so that I can decide to buy this one for sure. But I think the second row captains chair do slide. As far as I have seen in some other reviews. Can you please double click on that in your detailed review.
Does this vehicle have the auto start/stop feature? What about an auxiliary battery? I'm thinking about getting a Traverse and ditching a Chrysler Pacifica.
Very good looking vehicle but that piano black interior trim is already covered in micro-scratches. No thanks Chevy, please come up with something durable and stylish.
Thanks for the video. The 2nd row seats do adjust forward and backward. You just have to reach below the seat and find the lever. RUclipsr Car Confections mentions this in his review. GM would be foolish not to have 2nd row seats adjust.
Personally, I prefer the 2023 with storage compartment behind the radio. Super useful for me. Too bad the new screen doesn't fold down for storage behind. That would be huge!
not sure why chevy couldnt just use the 2.7L 4 cyl turbo instead of coming up with a 2.5L turbo. It will take some time to see reliability data on the new engine.
I have been dying for this car to come out, but from other videos it looks like you can’t have the 2nd row back all the way if you have 3rd row down which is a major design flaw. Why would they do that? I always want max leg room for the second row so that’s just a big deisgn flaw and it’s gonna be a deal breaker for us😢
I have been waiting for a Z71. But I'm glad they warned us last year that the V6 was going away. At least I can jack it up a couple inches and install the slid plate from the 2024.👌
@kgindpls I agree, it is weird but I wonder if Chevrolet didn't want people moving the seats around at an auto show. I remember when we reviewed the Nissan Armada, the second row seats are fixed which I think is a really strange way to design a three-row SUV. Glad to hear that's not the case with the Chevrolet Traverse.
I like everything about the new Traverse except the lack of hybrid powertrain. GM is going to lose out to the Japanese (e.g. Toyota Grand Highlander) and Korean brands again (e.g. Hyundai new Santa Fe Hybrid, Kia Sorento Hybrids/PHEV and possibly hybridized Telluride in the near future) because of this.
I didn't get a Yukon because I couldn't justify the extra $20,000. But I can certainly justify and extra $4/week for gas. I didn't buy the V6 for the gas mileage. I bought it for the practicality . I'll be towing a a Chrysler over the blue Ridge mintis this weekend with it. I'd be foolhardy to do that with a 4 cylinder. Plus I'm better off with the extra weight for stability .
Great review. Chevy is really struggling to get this product going. I imagine the union strikes delayed it. When those captain chairs are adjusted to a reasonable setting the 3rd row will have best in class legroom or close to it. Wife has a 2018 Enclave it's a great vehicle.
This looks amazing!! 😻 and no 3 cylinder like fordsssss LMAO. Chevy is picking up the gen z, maybe the younger generation would buy this. Great work guys!
Thats exactly what my eyes were drawn to when I saw it. It blocks your already limited vision. If I wanted a panel van..I would've bought a panel van. Seems stupid . Maybe they still had a design engineer from the 70s locked in the basement!??
This model didn't have that feature, not sure why, maybe because it was at the auto show and Chevrolet didn't want people moving the seats? The Chevrolet Traverse second row does slide back and forth.
The Traverse has always had several issues. One was poor fuel mileage compared to a couple of the other 3 row SUVs. Another is constant issues with 5he front suspension. GM has also had “ bad luck “ with turbo charged engines. With GM I would always wait a couple years to see how reliable things are in a model with significant changes. This Traverse looks pretty good except for that reverse shark fin between the rear doors and the back side window. That’s probably one of those “ some like it some won’t “ things. Let me throw out a guess on a Canadian model for fuel mileage. I’m thinking it will likely be around 28-29 miles per imperial gallon on the highway and 19-21 around town. The regular Highlander will get 31-32. Mpg all day on the highway. Then again you could probably carry a regular Highlander inside the Traverse. The Grand Highlander will likely outsell the new Traverse and by how much more will come down to availability from Toyota. What 3 trims of the Traverse are in the Canadian market? We know about the RS and the Z71 so I’m assuming there will be a trim just below those two. Price on the lowest trim…….. my guess is $52,000 Cdn dollars. What GM needs is a hybrid version using a Toyota style hybrid or a Honda version.
Exactly it needs the hybrid toyota has . I have a 2010 and timing chain issues are still a thing with the 3.6. along with springs breaking in the struts
Those are most likely just for the show. My 2023 is so dim I don't know why they bothered. No lights under the dash either if you drop something. They had them back in '99! Cheap bastages . I'll have to add some when I have time. It's unacceptable.
its impossible that seats dont slide.....seats slide all the way from LS to High Country trim......you have to find the bar and pull it up then push the seat back or pull it forward.
I would consider the GMC Acadia in the near future as I like the exterior design more than the Chevy. And yes for extended family and friends it’s good for six people going camping and fishing.
Why doesn't this 2024 look like the 2024's I'm seeing for sale online? My wife and I bought a 2023 Traverse close to 18 months ago, and they are still selling them now. Something is messed up about the Traverse and their model years.
Hi Zack and Andrea: you know I was never a Chevy fan and I always say US made cars sucks. Finally Chevy made a new model that could compete with the other brands. I’m glad to see Chevrolet isn’t giving up. They may be contending with some quality control/reliability issues, but you can not deny that they haven’t delivered on some great (some sensational) design works. And… at fair prices. I’m not the biggest General Motors fan, but I have to give them credit where credit is due… they at the very least earned that. Thanks for the video.
@@kellingtonlink956 ... honestly though, Chevy has come a long way in quality. The 2024 J.D. Power ranks came out a few weeks ago. Chevy is ranked 4th now. Just a decade ago, they were ranked 14th (just 1 point above average). That's a pretty big accomplishment considering it's... Chevy. If they can maintain... I'd buy.
Why on EARTH do car makers keep putting these bigger and bigger and dumber and dumber wheels on vehicles?? Nobody needs 22" wheels on a family hauler! These aren't freakin' 911s. Nobody is taking these to track days to race them. The 18" combo is the right size for basically EVERY model. **hobbles off to shake his fist at a cloud**
@@kevinmatthews365 no, that isn't true. Last vehicle I bought came with 20s. I asked the dealer if they could swap them for the 18s on a different trim level of the same model on the lot. Wasn't an option. So I bought my own set of 18s for it. I wanted the factory 18s, but the trim level I wanted did not give me a choice in the matter, so it is NOT up to the purchaser. You get what they will sell you and that's it.
That's surprising. I've gotten dealers VW, Chevy etc. To change out wheels all the time. Usually, the lower end shopper appreciates having the more upscale wheels without paying extra, but maybe not 22's 😂😂
Smh as a chevy man this is what the blazer should have came back as. Also Gm stop bs and make a Zl1 or Z06 version supercharged to compete with Durango and track hawk
I don't understand touchscreens in vehicles..... i have a Mazda where everything can be done via a couple of knobs and it's so much better AND i can do things while I'm driving. Anything with a touch screen is a hard no
If it's that same engine as the one five years ago the GM tech said don't buy this engine. He was replacing the pistons and rods under warranty . I Wish GM the best . Lol
Front is trying to look like a full size p/u truck . I hope that 2.5 stays together as GM had issue with in the past . Interior looks very good much better than 2010LT , that 3.6 is hard on fuel that why mine only has 128000km and family uses it for university transport. Nice but too boxy shape.
I went to Florida and back with my new 3.6L last November. Just five weeks after buying my XT6 Sport. Average 9.1L/100 km round trip of 4400 km. My 3.6L in my CTS traded got 8L/100 km on long trips. The 2.0T on my ATS before that was 7L/100 km. The 1.4T on my Cruze before that got 5.3L/100 km on a long trip. I don’t call any of these bad mileage rates for size of engine and weight of vehicle.
@@kevinmatthews365 n mine was new it would get great fuel mileage but I believe that the heads are carboned up from the direct injection , no lucky to 11.5km/100km. Just saying
My 2023 V6 Traverse regularly gets 27.3 hiway and pretty good around town. Yeah, a 2010 doesn't have a 9 speed automatic or the newer effiency features. I wouldn't trade my V6 for any 4 Cyl turbo even the 2.7.
@@ginakerry2588 #.6 is a good engine but has had timing chain stretch issues and the direct injection does create alot of carbon on the back of the intake valves . Like the new horsepower and torque from that 2.5 liter hope they have corrected the reliabillty issue with engine.
Don't like it. I'm not getting why the majority of car makers are making their vehicles larger, and similar to other makes and models. I really haven't seen anything with the WoW factor, in any of these vehicles for the last couple of years.
Because consumers are wanting larger vehicles. The grand highlander exists because many people felt the regular highlander was too small. Same thing with the GMC Acadia which is also getting a new generation this year. It was the smallest in the segment and it sold far less than competitors.
The second row seats do slide back and forth in the Traverse but this particular model didn't have this feature available at the show.

They may be contending with some quality control/reliability issues, but you can not deny that they haven’t delivered on some great (some sensational) design works. And… at fair prices. I’m not the biggest General Motors fan, but I have to give them credit where credit is due… they at the very least earned that. Thanks for the video.
If this vehicle was remotely close to Toyota reliability it would sell like hotcakes
I absolutely agree. If only…
easy to deliver on design when all you do is copy other brands 2-4 years later...🤣
I'd buy.
I was just thinking it is almost impressive that they managed to copy the cx-90 only 1 year later.
I just wouldn't want to copy a cx-90 😉
The piano black on the steering wheel, dash and around cup holders are already scratched up. Yikes
What does it matter if it is a look that one is after? 🤔. Other than a higher priced tire to replace. Up to the purchaser.
@@ChrisPollard People like them big, so manufacturers deliver
My 22 Colorado Z71 came with 17s and I like it.
Anything with a touch screen is a hard no
It's silly they didn't open the new vehicles doors to public in the show
I'm going for the Z71 model!
Are you concerned about reliability with Chevrolet?
@codygibson3765 Not really, I've owned six chevys so far and they've been good!
@codygibson3765 if you look at reliability per 100 vehicles sold. Gm is better than Ford and dodge.
Will this one burn oil like ALL gas chevys since 2007? FACT. MULTIPLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS.
they want to rebrand it as a clean diesel....🙄🤣
I don't know, mine is a 1999. Not burning oil yet.
2.5l engine is terrible on gas, shuts down to 2 cylinders on hwy probably affecting gas mileage
If it's that same engine as the one five years ago the GM tech said don't buy this engine. He was replacing the pistons and rods under warranty . I Wish GM the best . Lol
The engines a joke. Might last 3 years
17 inch screen that won’t work after the first month! …
It's a mini van basically
Every piano black piece in that overprice dumpster has scratches already.
They did a good job
The 2024 traverse, coming sometime in 2025…
Or 2026.
Calendars are over rated .
I can't believe that none of you auto journalist have driven the new Traverse or the Acadia yet! What is going on GM!!??
Next week for Traverse, a few weeks later for Acadia
Don't like it. I'm not getting why the majority of car makers are making their vehicles larger, and similar to other makes and models. I really haven't seen anything with the WoW factor, in any of these vehicles for the last couple of years.
Because consumers are wanting larger vehicles. The grand highlander exists because many people felt the regular highlander was too small. Same thing with the GMC Acadia which is also getting a new generation this year. It was the smallest in the segment and it sold far less than competitors.
UM, that's what people want...
I'm, they actually shrunk it from 2023.
Be grateful!
😏
hey chevy! how about a hybrid??
How about a V6.
I'm sure you'll be able to get it in EV next year! 😂😂
@@ginakerry2588nop. I don't want an EV. we're already flooded with EVs with not enough charging stations. I want a four banger hybrid.
