The ending of Kingdom Hearts 1 truly is something special, from Ansems defeat, to the trio's separation, to everything that transpired beyond. That said there is one particular part of KH1's ending that I feel deserves more love - the result? This video.

Its been a little while since we did a KH1 VOD on the channel. Was happy to discuss this game's ending as I think it's one of the best endings in the entire series! Would you agree?

The ending to KH1 with light coming from Kingdom Hearts, was a perfect conclusion to a game where Sora and you travel the world(s) and feel like you understand nothing about them. In reality though, you are playing with the only one who understands how the world(s) work.

I love videos like this that reflect on this kind of stuff from the older games. The symbolism of KH1 is SO Strong.

It’s so good to see you doing kingdom hearts videos once again. I wasn’t worried because of final fantasy 7 rebirth obviously. But I never really thought about the ending of KH1 as in-depth as you did. It’s a shame KH2 didn’t implement the same thing but I’m glad something similar was brought back for KH3 with Xehanort’s ultimate defeat.

Ok… im probably not going to make any sense, but here I go. I’m just going to put my random thoughts out there randomly.
A few weeks ago, I believed that the guardians of light and keyblade wielders.were allegories for mental health.
The ancient masters were gaslit into suppressing the darknesses of their namesake.
The way finder trio were early examples of mental health management ven is kinda like DID, with vanitas kinda serving the role of the alter ego.
Terra is like, burdened by personal beliefs and hidden resentment
Aqua… is fine. Just a nag that wants her brother figures to be the best versions of themselves, but she may chip away at things they’re struggling with, and try to hide.
Eraqus was so blinded by absolutes thst he nearly killed of his students , mentally messed up another, and left the last with the burden.
Roxas has identity issues, Riku is burdened by his mistakes, which gave him imposter syndrome and self worth issues,
But most importantly, Sora bottles up and suppresses his dark side.
The brighter the light, the more intense the shadows became.
People wonder where the dark side came from, in the kh1 tutorial.
I believe that it was the darkness that Sora was bottling up.
The shadow he became, was made from the leftover darkness he couldn’t keep back/suppress.
I mean, he was even in the midst of sacrificing himself to save a friend.

Ansem is Xehanort. He knew the truth but kept selling a lie to Sora and Co. He even admits to this in KH 3 to Riku before he dies

Ummm....wasnt that the door to darkness which opened to the realm of darkness where riku, mickey, and aqua were? So I still dont understand what light emerged from there that killed ansem, or how "truth" would end him. I really think it was brute force. The DTD would have reinvigorated Ansem, as it would have been flooding the realm of light with darkness which is why Sora had to close it.

Nothing. Young Nort showed up and dragged him to the future.

It is revealed in 0.2 Fragmentary Passage , that Light that Sora calls Kingdom Hearts, is coming from Riku. Sora's voice reaches across the Barrier of the Realm of Darkness to the Light inside Riku and destroyed the Darkness "Ansem" was using to hold Riku's Body.

This sounds cool, but I dont see any evidence to support this claim.
Also I think you mean 0.2.

@@niflfaron Remember when Mickey and Aqua are past the Door in the Cave on Destiny Islands in the Realm of Darkness, Mickey tells Aqua about the person who is going to help him with the Door (Mickey has silence conversation with him in a Final Mix KH1 scene). Then, the Cave shakes and a Light Appears. It covers the screen, and we see the Start of that Final Mix Scene with Riku in the Kh1. The Light fades, The Door to Darkness is open, and Riku is running away from the Demon Tide, his Body restored to him. Evidence.
Further, The Light happens because King Mickey has Riku think about his friends and then, Riku envisions Sora running at him while Smiling the goofy Smile.

@@niflfaron Also, during the Battle against the Ansem Ark Heartless Ship, Sora is falling into the Abyss. Sora hears Riku's Voice in his Heart and , suddenly, he can fly. And Ansem, Seeker of Darkness , said that Sora and Riku's Voice shouldn't be able to reach each other. But that just happened.

It's Riku's light that defeats Ansem.
