In the hopes it clears up any confusion: I'm fully aware the Level 1 Run already exists and everybody knows it already exists. The challenge is arguably even required for 100% completion, given the devs explicitly tell players to do it through inclusion of EXP Zero. VG Myths, as it currently exists, is a place to showcase challenge runs I find interesting. The "Can You Beat" in the titles is not a question of the challenge's possibility, but a direct questioning of one's individual ability to take on the challenge. This video exists solely because I've personally wanted to do Level 1 Runs of the Kingdom Hearts series for years; I don't intend on making any claims of it being impossible or unprecedented. That said, please throw as much constructive criticism at me as you possibly can. This video did make me go through something of an identity crisis reconsidering exactly what my main intent with VG Myths was. I ultimately decided "allowing the viewer to experience the challenge run themselves" was my answer. Let me know how well I conveyed that experience~
Not that I disagree with your decision here, but your logic doesn’t exactly seem to follow. Finding out if you can beat Sly Cooper without collecting any coins, or Jak & Daxter without collecting any orbs, seems to be much more about investigating the feasibility of such runs.
It doesn't matter, but I would love to see other games at level 1 in the kh series, kh2 and kh3 should be fun, and kh3 has a bonus challenge of all pro codes if you get remind
Funny thing is i'm fairly certain the higher number doesn't do anything because KH1 and KH2 have damage minimums so atk stat under (I think) 25 just gets bumped up to 25. You'd have to be using ATK Boosts, which is frowned upon for lv1 runs in the community
What's funny is in a casual play through of Kingdom Hearts. Once you get to the higher levels the Damage numbers on the key blades become meaningless as Sora's base damage is way better and has a greater influence than anything else that the puny keyblades can offer.
Baku Winthro yea, I think this gets shown a bit more in KH2 because you can see the actual numbers the keyblades supposedly add to your attack and magic values They generally give about a +3 or so to attack which I don’t think amounts to much later on in the game, as shown by the fact you can still clobber enemies pretty well with the +0 keyblade you can get later on
Imagine trying to kill a small boy, a cartoon duck, and some really tall dog but then the kid hits you there times with a key and then summons Robin Williams from Aladin and an orphan dear, and they murder you in about a minute
Don't worry. This happened to me, but I killed Robin Williams and I killed the orphan while saying "I stabbed your mother and watched her die of blood loss while I was smiling like a psycho"
Chain of Memories. Marluxia: Now you’re at level 1, you’re a fool for coming to this castle! Sora: Huh...I don’t feel any different. Marluxia: Wait, what...?
When you really think about it, you gain experience in games to level up, and you gain experience with the game the more you play. So beating the game at Lvl 1 is like the equivalent of getting a score so high, the game resets it to 0. You've gained so much actual, real-life experience with the game, that you no longer require the in-game experience.
That's me for about any KH boss, in any game. Except Aqua in BBS since then I could just fill my deck with curagas and counter spam bosses to death. That's how I beat the Final Episode

Noblesse Oblige I’m trying it I’m stuck at the pot centipede and the preliminaries of the Olympus tournament. Clayton also took like 20 tries. Everything else was challenging but doable so far

“Yes it’s intended” guys that not the point. The point is the journey, he proving to himself that he could do it, and using the challenge as a vessel for comedy as most challenge videos on RUclips are.
"I just spun around in circles, screaming about how dead I was, until eventually I accidentally wasn't!" How did you manage to sum up how I play any game????
That basically sums up my winning attempts at bosses in KH games. Especially Lexion in Chain of Memories, I had no idea what was going on the entire fight.
It's actually kind of incredible because my last KH1 run I turned Donald's defensive spells on constantly and he will WITHOUT FAIL Cure me the moment I get the car alarm on my HP bar. I've never been so thankful the little bastard finally did his job.
@Bauti Pelo Largo Sombrero En italiano lol he is not wrong. How many Kingdom Hearts players actually knew that, all you needed to do was customize Donald's combat settings.. it's literally been a joke since 2013

21:30 That remaining explanation of how he beat Sephi is so nostalgic, and it puts a smile on my face. The "oh shit oh shit oh shit, hey, I won?" and the endless amounts of deaths is what I live for in KH super boss battles
This has been me with all the Kh3 limit cut super bosses. In *level 99* and still the end of every fight is "oh shit oh fuck oh shit oh fuck oh sh- I WON?!?!?"

When playing Kingdom Hearts 3 I didn’t know what the hell I was doing and just pissed around until I beat the game, it worked but I felt like an amateur who was just getting lucky for never dying on hardest difficulty.
Kh3 was too easy. You could literally just button mash the attack button for any boss and win. Sora had some weird new gravitational pull towards whatever the target was focused on and you didn't even have to jump. Too easy. Not fun.
This reminds me of a time a friend once tried a LV 1 run of Kingdom Hearts 2... and also reminds me of how I can barely beat this game at recommend LVs.

@@infernousgaming1393 same here, i enjoy watching these challenge type things (speedruns, different controllers, limitations etc.) but i don't do these types of challenges myself. I'm a completionist gamer, not a challenger gamer.
I've beaten KH1 a while ago and watching videos like these always makes me feel like i had been playing a completely different game. Compared to this my experience was kind of boring
Fun fact: When I was young, Kingdom Hearts was one of the first ever RPGs I’ve ever played. Not realising that I could change my equipment, I went through the entire game not knowing about the other keyblades. No, I could not finish the game.
Here's one: Can you beat Persona 5 with only Arsene? (Whether you choose to interpret that as Arsene being your only battling Persona or your only Persona period, I'll leave up to you.)
I almost did after finding out I could selectively level him with Treasure Demons. Slap a Null Phys. and Null Ice then pray enemies are as photophobic as you are.
The difficulty in this varies incredible based on the interpretation of the statement. If you go with only being allowed to have Arsene and never getting any other persona and throwing away any forced ones then you very rapidly run into an issue of Arsenes terrible selection of attacks. If you instead view it as only being allowed to use Arsene in battle but can use other Persona for Gallows sacrifices then it really just becomes an issue of getting far enough and then Arsene being unable to inherit healing
The healing could be mained with Morgana and Makoto (this was my strat the entire game) as long as he maxes out both Sojiro and Kawakami he could get a bunch of master Curry's and coffees which would effectively be a game ender, his problems that I see are dealing with the first three palaces (Sojiro is locked until you recruit Futaba) but if he can make it, then I don't really see how bad it could get, especially if he was doing the other confidants along the way.
Even on level 1, you made certain parts of Kingdom Hearts seem _much_ easier than when I was a kid. Then again, RPG elements were new to me at the time. Good times, it was one of the first games ever that I eventually 100% completed, and I remember being so proud of myself after finally defeating Sephiroth! Man, I miss this game. The soundtrack is so nostalgic.
I'd really love to see him do this sort of run with KH2 Final Mix, especially taking on the Replica Organization and Lingering Will; I know a lot of people have done this sort of challenge before, but it's so much more interesting to have someone walking through the strategies with plenty of humor along the way.
I personally have never literally seen this done and love this game, so was interested right away, even when it was quickly explained that there was a zero experience option so of course this was feasible. I just so happened to be subscribed to your channel and therefore fate is what led me to watching it here first. Also you credit everyone who helped so, what’s the problem? Here's one:
Can you beat Persona 5 with only Arsene?
(Whether you choose to interpret that as Arsene being your only battling Persona or your only Persona period, I'll leave up to you.)
I almost did after finding out I could selectively level him with Treasure Demons. Slap a Null Phys. and Null Ice then pray enemies are as photophobic as you are.
I don't think the latter is possible, because I'm pretty sure you're forced to recruit Pixie for the "Multiple Personas" tutorial.
Haha you said Arsene.
This is hilarious because I remember having such a hard time with several of these bosses and you beat them at level 1
