    I am always saddened by how to paint videos that utilise airbrushes ... but only because I don't have one (and not likely ever will) and know there is extra effort to achieve the same result with brush painting. Your choice of Temple Guard Blue as a highlight color for the base of Macragge Blue is a bit unorthodox. It always seemed a bit too close to green for that. But if you're using purple for the shading, perhaps a tiny bit of yellow on the highlights works well with it. I know a bit of color theory, and that makes some sense to me.
    There is one thing that puzzles me, though. Is there any reason in particular why you mix Leviadon Blue with Flesh Tearers Red for the shade, instead of just going for Shyish Purple?

    Hey, that looks really good! Very clean and crisp looking, for the sake of contrast, rusty necrons would be awesome, I already know how I would attack them, but it is always interesting to see how different people handle rust effects because it feels like there are so many different options, for me, I get the most enjoyment and best results using the life colour rust and dust paint set over grey and black brown working light to dark with heavy washes and speckling, but would be interested to see how you would go about getting a rusty finish!

I have one question : in a similar situation, if i wanted to add some light, dusty, weathering, especially in the lower parts, at what point do you think it's the right time? Would you do that before or later to the last drybrush steps? Would you try a "dirty" filter over the whole model after the last drybrush step? Sorry for the horrible english , Thanks!

    Thanks for the quick reply, I've tried lots of sizes and shapes of dry brush, the best result so far being a battered cut down citadel one that I used for mixing paint lmao. I haven't used a dampening pad yet is that a big part of it? Im willing to pay a decent amount if it helps me smash through my backlog which may or may not include the Indomitus and soon Leviathan marines... Any recommendations much appreciated ❤

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  Год назад +1

      Hey buddy, it's not too much of a surprise you're struggling, you're not using the same technique or tools, any cut down brushes won't taper to a finer point at the tips of the hairs, so you've probably made something that can stipple OK, but might be a tad rough for the drybrushing.
      I use this set of brushes (it comes with a pad), and an XXL texture palette. The core principles of the technique involve using high-quality round 'lightbulb' shaped drybrushes. These have a lot of fine hairs, and the technique uses a small (predictable, not too much) amount of moisture and frequent testing on the palette to keep things high quality.
      Set: store.artis-opus.com/products/series-d-drybrush-set-deluxe-5-slot
      Palette: store.artis-opus.com/products/xxl-texture-palette-a3-brand-new-product-design

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 года назад +1

      Hey dude, sorry for the delay, it's probably a matter of thinning/thinner - you can always add a little strong alcohol to your thinner if you want to include something that'll promote a matte finish, or use a tad of matte medium.
      It sounds like you've just used more, perhaps thicker, or perhaps not thinned as aggressively as I did, hope that helps!

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 года назад +1

      Absolutely dude, it's all about using thinner paint - I've only recently perfected this more, but for me it's basically a matter of doing stippling in a couple of thinned stages to build them up, just like normal painting - but important without opaque paint, just requires a bit more patience! Apologies for missing this comment!
