this was actually the best rundown of how to paint i have ever seen. and i have seen alot of those. i really want to get into warhammer miniatures but i feel like an idiot because i have basically negative artistic talent. i would love to see more of these on here.
I have negative artistic talent and was scared when starting. Dont worry about it and as long as you dont clog the details with paint and paint within the lines, everything you paint will turn out nice
Please don't say you have "negative artistic talent" and don't put yourself down. It's practice. I started when I was 9 and what I did then as a beginner was perfectly fine, now I've been doing it for over 20 years. I wish that I still had those 10 plastic Moria Goblins I didn't undercoat, didn't water the paint down, didn't get all the details or keep within the lines. They were beautiful pieces of art done by a child. Anything you do in the hobby is good enough. If you want to do Warhammer just start somewhere and enjoy yourself. It just takes practice, being happy with making mistakes but most importantly it's about having fun.
Dude, I can't draw a stick person. But taking my time really looking into multiple painting tutorials, and my friends were shocked I actually painted it. The best thing that helped me was what I mentioned above, as well as getting the holder for your models. Allowed me to be more steady while painting tough areas.
Saying you are bad at something, wether it be math, painting etc., is a self limiting spiral. Your inner soul starts believing the negative reinforcement you give it. You end up avoiding it, not thinking about it and then it becomes a reality and congratulations now you are really bad. And that could be due to some prior bad experience or feedback that sent you into this self limiting spiral. Instead; Avoid talking negative about your self in anyway, this is forbidden for you now. Whatever you will pursue, you will get good at, because you identify as someone who's interested and want to get good at things, and that means your reality will eventually catch up through your own efforts by not avoiding it, starting to think about it, talking about it, asking about it and having the courage to practice it. God's speed to you, the Emperor protects!
“I started like this” and it’s a genuinely impressive space marine, wild talent on display whenever I see people paint miniatures, I’m always impressed
Excellent tutorial. Without the crap of airbrushing and spending loads of money for every gadget out there. Straight to the point and brilliantly explained!
You should do more full-length painting videos! I was watching this after a long day at work, and I thought it was super relaxing to just watch you work.
MAVERICK! honestly brother thank you! I am 27, I bought my first miniatures at 24 and was just so scared to touch them incase I fucked it up... My hands aren't the steadiest due to time in the military/cold exposure. Anyway, I seen that you went from a beginner to an absolute painting god and it gave me that push I needed. It was a genuine "if you can do it, I can do it" moment😅 I watch your shorts on repeat now! Keep it up!
Wait a second, can cold exposure cause shaky hands permanently? I was also in the military (infantry stationed in Colorado) so I basically spent the four years there in the cold. I have shaky hands and have always wondered why.
Love this!! I followed after seeing your instagram content. This is such an awesome intro for beginners. You've done a great job encompassing what otherwise seems like an overwhelming amount of info for newbies.
Absolutely Amazing! not only a great comedic intro and outro, but some solid great tips and demonstration on how to paint a model. Thank you so much! I cant wait for the next one!
I’ve never painted Warhammer but have wanted to for a while and this may give me the confidence to do it and it shows how to do everything from what watering the paint down means to a wash thx 🙏
Give it a go, don’t worry too much about trying to be perfect, we all started someone where. I’m getting back into after 20 year break. Just go your own pace, don’t over think and just enjoy it. Good luck and welcome to the hobby 👍🏻
So im not a child, im 41 and watching videos like this make me feel I have missed my calling in life even though I have never painted miniatures or anything other than walls. This is going to get expensive…… FAST
Cracking video mate, for some reason I never thought to use the back of the blade to remove mould lines will be doing that from now on! Excited to see more content!
Yea. Youre officially the closest thing iv been able to find to compare myself to as a painter. Like youre better than me, but your "maverick" attitude i can really relate to. Paint the model, get it on the table, move forward. Love your work.
Such a great video, the intro and outro are actually funny not cringy and the painting content is spot on for assisting beginners with their first models.
Hey, really nice video. I painted my first two Space Marines for my son. I'm not into Warhammer, but the painting was fun. I didn't used the Citadel stuff, way to expansiv in my opinion. And I already had modeling color for our WW2 models. Most Acrylic paints made by known Modeling Companies will work for Warhammer, even if they don't have the specific shades of red or what else, just mix'em yourself. Maybe not 100% similar, but good enough. Also those Washes by Citadel. It's just thinned down color will flow improver. Just do it yourself. A bit of black or brown, little bit of thinner or flow improver (or simple soap) and water. Give it a try, super simple. Stay healthy, really great looking Figures!
I watched a few tutorial videos, just painted my first few ultramarines… But this video seems to accurately advise the best painting methods… Already looking forward to my second go after learning these tips👍
At first the idea of starting to paint miniatures was daunting but after watching this video and it's amazing straightforward information and truly talented host I feel truly inspired and at ease and most importantly ready to begin this amazing journey into plastic addiction
Recently got interested in painting miniatures and saw this video. This is 100% what I was looking for. Step by step for an absolute noob to painting. Can’t thank you enough for this!
OKAY OKAY I'M SUBSCRIBING....DAYUM. honestly I bought this pack and just painted my first miniature this weekend. Thank you for this video. It helped alot and prevented what could have been a disaster. Need some more training but with your videos on my side I fear no grimm future!
Hey Maverick! I just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. I saw this about a year ago and it was this video that helped me ease into the painting side of Warhammer. You did an excellent job of explaining the process of painting a miniature and I came back here as a reminder of where I started. I love your videos and don't ever stop posting!
Fantastic work sir! As someone who just painted their first mini yesterday, and it was an ultramarine I’m glad this is out so I can grab some ideas! Appreciate the work and keep it up sir!
Been painting for 6 months and I didn’t even think about wiping the brush before highlighting I feel silly going at with a soaked tip and splotching. Also the washing tip is very good, thank you sir
Hilarious intro. Great and very helpful video. Please do more of these simple paint-jobs to fill in the space between your brutal art that captures the horror of 40K. Keep up the good work.
I got a free mini from my local game store and just winged it while it was a little darker than what i expected probably because i used a darker primer it turned out really well. Mostly just latherd it with contrast and then did the gold highlights and the flamer in red
I've never painted a Warhammer mini (or any mini), but this video genuinely makes me want to go to my LGS, get a starting kit, and just go for it even if I have no desire to actually play the tabletop. I just like appreciating it from afar.
🤣🤣🤣 had me rolling when you said your really starting to piss me off 🤣🤣🤣..... but I've recently have been wanting to get into Wh40k and came across your vids. Brother you got me hooked should be getting my first set tomorrow I know it will take time to get to your level but I'm patient and thanks for the vids can't wait for more 💯🫡
This gave me the confidence to get my first model, now I gotta figure out what army I’m building, Fr tho solid advice for any kind of kit painting thank you
Muchas gracias por este vídeo, y por pensar en pintores principiantes, y no tan principiantes. Me has ayudado mucho y pienso seguir cada uno de tus videos (Thank you very much for this video, and for thinking of beginner painters, and not so beginners. You have helped me a lot and I plan to follow each of your videos)
I dont comment often. But this time i have to ! This Video is so much fun to watch. Explanations, editing of the video as well as your funny acting. Thx for it !
Great vid, I would suggest making a wet pallet even for beginners. All parts can be made with stuff many people have at the house or can easily be sourced from the dollar store.
Great video. Makes me think i might be able to pick this hobby up. Also, the hilarity and comedic timing of the intro and outtro really make me want to keep watching!
This was perfect. I bought the starter kit that comes with the ultramarine intro kit but didnt understand thining truly. And i always wondered why my macragge blue came out so grainy. Now i know why, and now im gonna buy this kit and try again now with better knowledge. Thank you
This is an amazing video for beginners! One thing I would recommend for new people is to add just a little bit of water to your shade paints to get rid of the glossy Finnish they tend to have.
Awesome work Maverick! Just put an order in for this along with the extra tools and paints you mentioned. Been like 20 years since I've painted WH. Have had an itch to get back into it for some time and watching your vids just amped it up!
Great video. I haven't decided if I want to get involved in this hobby as I already have some plastic models that need building. I did visit Games Workshop the other day for a Q&A session to learn more about the hobby .
"Heeeeeeey...I think he is actually talking to himself... is he some kind of crazy person?", (asks the person pretending to be a robot). Nice video, man! Gonna go try this out. xoxo
Darn to bad I just discovered this hobby due to space marine 2 because this would have been awesome but alas due to cataracts in one eye I can barely see from it it would make it extra hard. But love the work the community puts into this it’s great
I got my first Warhammer paint kit just like this one for Christmas and I’m hooked but my pocket are scared lol this is a world I’ve got into for quite sometime (2yrs) now from lore to mini figures 🤙🏽🤘🏼my pledge is ETERNAL SERVICE 🫡
Nice video. Sitting on the exact same starter box to start painting miniatures. I studied art and feel familiar with using acrylic paint and brushes. But this is new and really interesting to master :D
When doing the blood I would recommend after doin blood for the blood god another darker and thicker red such as khorne red being stippled very lightly to make a dried blood effect
I wish I knew this video when I went back into this hobby a few months ago, it's perfect for me. Thanks, I like the way you explain things, even if I'm not totaly bilingual (far from it) I understand everything. And good humor ;)
God damn it why did I watch this? Now I actually feel like I might be able to pull this off. I will never financially recover.
even in debt I still serve
I just thought similar!
