After dating two German men back to back, I must say that: - Yes, they can look hot as hell and still be really shy. Do approach them first. - It takes a while until they warm up to you, but once you get close to them, they are the best kind of man to be around, responsible, charming, kind and devoted. - Not just honest, they mean what they say. And they expect the same from you. - Be on time. Don't test them on this. 10/10 will date German men again hahaha (nah, still dating one)
Agreed! I live, work and have relationship with German before. But my last one was so possessive and really telling me all the truth how he never likes my friends and won't like them at all. Well, we broke up with a good term, but after so many times I think I cant relate another guy who act differently, hides things and late. Or messing up a schedule like is nothing.
You know what I thought the same thing. I mean because the majority of my mom's side of the family came from Germany after ww2. But still I'm part American so yeah. And also I can speak a little bit of German
I was in Germany and I was at a bar. Nobody came up to me even though a lot of men where looking at me and even bought me drinks. I went up to one of them and started talking. We didn't talk much afterwards, but one day he came to the restaurant I worked in and invited me for a drink. Out of the blue, as we were sitting in the bar he was like, i really like you. Nothing more. I was so confused but I found it so refreshing. Yeah being romantic is great but being direct is refreshing and romantic in it's own way. Oh by the way, why are germans so hot? Like wtf? Ps. He was kind of drunk the first time we met but he started talking to me about the education system and he was actually making sense. Wtf
My husband is German and he’s the best. I’ve dated Americans, brits, fellow Aussies, and etc. they’re very shy so yes you definitely need to approach them. My husband is the sweetest most caring person I know. No we’re not into small talk but we have very deep conversations which make our bond so much stronger. He loves to cook for me and look after me. He’s very intelligent and I learn so much from him. I’m no picnic. I suffer from panic disorder and bipolar disorder but he is so patient with me it’s unreal. I didn’t want a child before I met him but since we’ve been together, I can’t wait for him to be the father of my child. 💋😘💋😘
Ok, this easily explains why every time I complimented a german girl with what would be a standard compliment in Italy, she looked so positively surprised and kind of melting down
yea, we dont like hearing something like that from strangers, but from friends and from the own boyfriend.. but german mans doesnt really compliment much ^^ So Italian man always have the stereotype to be charming in germany :D
@ Saphira Tamaki and backslash68 of course, as you mentioned, chances are that being too forward with strangers or people you hardly know results in it being perceived as "rude" and maybe even leads to the other person feeling uncomfortable.
There's this old Austrian joke: How does a German man nake a marriage proposal? "This is my house, this is my mother, there's Spätzle every Sunday, what do you say?"
1:53 She didn't let him get a word in. Always cut him off & then says he's not into small talk. He gave up trying because he knows she'll just interrupt..
For me as a German this was really amusing 😂 Because everyone in Germany is so honest you often don't realize it, it's just normal. But for real now, nearly no one in Germany plans his vaction that strict 😂 of course we like stuff planned and organised, but not so detailed. All in all, a great and really funny video 😊😂
Karla Kolumna What's funny to me is, my German boyfriend is nowhere near this organized, but I, even as an American woman, plan my whole trip/vacation itinerary out just like the German man in this video does. : P
@ Karla Kolumna I feel it becomes apparent even when visiting other European countries. (I remember meeting some business contact that mentioned that his company literally gave them a memo mentioning that they should expect Germans to not not care much about exchanging niceties before talking about business etc.)
Just know that , when a German man invites you on a vacation (in a relationship) , that means you have already made a special place in his heart. Basically , he already developed the 'L' word for you.
I'm an American woman who was having AWFUL TERRIBLE BAD luck with dating American men. I thought something was wrong with me until I met a German man. First, he was very receptive to me showing interest in him (yes, I had to approach him lol). He even showed gratitude for me giving him attention! He said that he was so flattered that I liked him so much and thanked me, lol. In contrast, American men pull away when women show interest. American men like women who are hard to catch and very aloof. The more interest you show, the more American men think of you as desperate or needy. Second, my German guy was always honest and direct. When it was time to have those tough conversations about our relationship aka "the talk" he was always open to talking and being honest with me, even if it could possibly hurt my feelings he always gave a very rational direct and honest response. In contrast, American men run away for relationship talk and they are not always very direct or honest. You basically have to just go with the flow with American men so you don't scare them away. Thirdly, my German guy was happy to talk about heavy topics like politics and religion on the first date. I love talking about these kinds of things but American men seem to want to have more casual and carefree conversations on dates and they are turned off by these topics. Fourth, my German guy is much more open minded about sex. We had sex on the second date and he still respected me and was still very interested in me. In fact, he wanted to see me more after we had sex and he liked how open I was to trying things. American men are far more judgmental about sex. They are turned off if they have sex too fast and they judge women who are sexually open and sexually confident, American men slut-shame women. My German man was the only man I ever felt completely comfortable with being kinky with because he genuinely enjoyed it and never made me fell dirty or impure. All this time I thought something was wrong with me and I was not good enough, turns out that I just don't fit well in American dating culture. I moved to Germany and I have excellent success with dating now, the best I've ever had in my entire life. I now have a boyfriend but before I met him, I was meeting lots of wonder guys. Dating was finally fun for me!
Getting me a German man. American men are too fucking sensitive and too soft for my blood. I like mine open minded with interesting different things, traveling and honesty. Besides I love me some tall sexy German guys. ❤
Let me say as an American man most of those things are very true. I despise the games and bs in American culture. Honesty and sincerity are so important to me. It's crazy how terrifying those 2 things are to most of these people. I guess I inherited my directness from my German parents and family.
I am Dutch, and I can tell you this also applies for Dutch men. Although we would still eat the fluffy bread. We like to keep it simple. The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium may annoy and tease each other. But in the end we are still like brothers and love each other.
I guess the video is about a southern german guy, as the location and background music gave me those vibes. In western germany close to your countries border, they also like their Sandwiches ("Toast-Brot"). But yeah, in the end the video was just playing with stereotypes ;-) :-). Most german guys I know don't like to stand up that early on vacation. And yeah, you're right about the teasing.
He believes men and women are equal ?? LOL !!! Try to find a German guy who would accept his wife earn more than him, look at how inequal the german society is (lowest work rate of women of the whole europe, very few women in top position etc). They are not even direct. They 're just doing what their women tell them to do. You american women are very deluded.
As a German I can tell you that we might be more honest and/or direct than other cultures but most people here still lie to be polite just not as much as in some other countries. Also you still need to do a little small talk before you can have deeper conversations and if you are a real geek about something it's still hard to find someone who shares you're passion. If you're looking for an honest guy who likes deep concersations it might be easier to find one in Germany but after all we too are only humans who want to be accapted and not harm others, just in general we are a little more open than other cultures in some cases.
@@alexnoon8042 what is up with you and your "hate" towards germany? Commenting everywhere with such negativity, did you get dumped by a German or what? What you write might apply to the old generation, but definetely not to mine.. I know countless couples in which the woman earns more then the man and they don't care, money is shared anyhow and the one that makes more continues to work, the other one stays home with the kids... For us it is important that somebody spends much time with the kids when they are still young, but it doesnt matter which one it is, mother or father.
Oh! I am so happy and glad that I was able to do this video. It came out so much better than I expected!! My facial expressions are ridiculous😂 Thank you so much for this awesome opportunity Marina you are the best!! And to all my RUclips family HEY YALL 😘
I know - you lucked out! This video has so many positive comments :) I swear - I don't know how you managed to do it in the snow/wet/slush/dark/freezing cold we filmed in, but you did. Wish we could have made it longer but yes -- your facial expressions were priceless!
One day i asked the girlfriend of my girlfriend if she has the Turner syndrome because she was very small and it was only the second time I have seen her in my life. Daaang, what have I done.
I am HOWLING. I am an American who has been blissfully dating a German man for 4 years, and this is so dead accurate!!! The only difference is that I am the hyper-organized planner when we go on trips. That's when he tells me that I am more German than he is! But yes they are gorgeous, have no flirtation skills whatsoever, are total bread snobs, and are great listeners. When I first met him, the "honesty"--I call it bluntness--upset me...but now I know the joy and security that comes from knowing that your partner is always telling you the truth (aka, if he tells you you look great, he really means it)!
I'm a German woman and had to laugh so hard at most of these points because they are so damn true. But I also relate to them, mostly the honesty and the need to plan everything out every minute for a trip :D
German guys are quite lovely. Straightforward and yet reserved at times. Smart but modest. They are very polite and have a great sense of culture. Very humane, compassionate and generous. They hate small talk. They respect privacy which is good.
I matched with a German guy on Tinder. After 2months of talking, I asked him if he's only interested in sex and he agreed. It sucks 'cause I really like him. I'm so heartbroken 😣😞
You will find a new one. Why be heartbroken? He's the one not getting laid. He may suck ass, for all you care, he's won't be waisting anymore of your time. Keep it up girl.
It is perfectly ok if you plan your life this way, but this is scripted reality transporting the silly idea, that every bloody German is so organized and efficient, just as the stupid stereotype is saying about us all. I understand the stupid idea of stereotypes, it makes the chaotic life much more simpler, but the truth is, it is an insult.
hooby marburg Sure, it's a little exaggerated, but there's also some truth to it. I never realised this, because my friends and people around me do it too (it varies from person to person) but we Germans do plan ahead more than others. I know that there's this stereotype about the organized, punctual and hard working German, but the point isn't that everyone here is like that. To me the point is that a lot of Germans are more organized, more punctual and more hard working than people from other countries. I only ever realise the truth of these stereotypes when interacting with people from different cultures. Of course there are also stereotypes that are far from true like, that we have no humour and are all Nazis, but I'm just saying that stereotypes don't necessarily mean that you are like that but that you are more likely to be like that compared to people from other parts of the earth. I don't think it's meant as an insult. Sorry, this is longer than I intended it to be. ^^'
Antonio Maldonado What the fuck did you just write? That is absolutely not true. Maybe you are just a creep and harrassed a northern european woman trying to give her a "compliment".
As a german guy, I can confirm this. Honesty and organisation are what we value. Oh and the part with the bread is true. It's hard to find decent bread outside of Germany. Btw. I love this series, it's really amusing
How was the second man not down to earth and self-righteous? He was very direct and honest, even slightly above average by German standards, but that's hardly a bad thing. Dishonesty will lead to nothing but unneeded complications.
Am happily married to a German for several years (I am also German) and oh boy. the stereotype is so true. Of course, there are gradations. I wish my husband would love planning that much... but I am the one doing it. But yeah, he recently booked a spa-treatment for me as a surprise and I got a list with times, but... it was a scheduled thing, so... I would have loved to get a list and got one. We do have a machine to make perfect, fresh bread for us. About 5% of our talking is small talk. We can sit in silence and enjoy our company rather than talking about boring stuff. But not all our talk is about profound things - more about things that matter to us personally and the other person is always invested. But that's long-term relationship-invested, would not talk about such things on a date ; ) But the brutal honesty. Something about this is very important though: There is rarely any emotional judgement attached. That's what many people do not understand and sometimes its hard to really get that. "You wear a lot of make up" is exactly this. "I notice, that you wear a lot of make up." Maybe there is some curiosity. Do you like make up? Did you do that especially for me? (if so, expect an answer, if that is appreciated, then you WILL get a judgement and it will be meant to be kind: "Don't worry about it. I don't care about make up. You do not have to make such an effort for me"
He does not care about make up. It is just for me. I still ask him if he likes something and sure he has opinions about what he likes and what not. But makeup simply is not important. He appreciates me putting any kind of effort into something we do together - including dressing up. Same the other way around. I like him to dress up for things like going to the movies. Not because that is expected, but because I like having a bit of effort and preparation for a date. But if he doesn't feel like it - all is fine. I take him any time in some old, hole-filled band shirt and an old grubby jeans as long as we spend time together ; ) As far as I can tell: Make up and people liking make up is not his world but he doesn't judge.
The reason I'm asking is cause I actually lived there for 5 months and the very first episode for this channel was filmed in Panama City ;) So yes - know lots about it!
Really??? that´s amazing! Nobody really ever knows Panama, apart from the fact we have the Canal. I will go watch that video! I am loving your channel, I´m inlove with other cultures and languages too! In fact I am moving to Italy (my favorite country) in 3 weeks. Let me know if you ever come by ;)
Check it out - it's the very first one on the channel. You will see because the quality is terrible but we question guys from different countries about dating. True - most people don't know much about Panama except for the Canal. Congrats - you will love Italy. It is one of my most favorite countries in the world and you will understand why when you get there. There is something in the air... :)
My first infatuation was with a German man and this seems pretty spot on. The directness can seem kind of brutal at first, but it can pretty refreshing too. You always know where you stand with them. I’d rather that than disingenuous sweet talk.
I don't understand the honesty thing. If you asks me if i like your skirt and i don't like it i would say, no, i don't like it. What is brutal about that? You asked me a question, i answered.
@@francoisdaureville323North Americans are pretty hard core feminists/equalitarians globally tbh. North American men do half the chores, North American women have jobs and sometimes are bread winners, North American men are willing to be stay at home dads, North American women are expected to go back to work after having children, North American men take care of children and clean diapers and stuff. I know some women whine and pretend they do the majority of domestic labor (which most do not although some do), but overall North Americans have a pretty gender equalitarian culture. Most North Americans share cleaning, bills, child care duties etc. that’s pretty equalitarian. Maybe North American men aren’t feminist (because feminists hate men and so they hate feminists). But if you’re just a nice person who wants equal treatment and equal responsibility sharing then it’s pretty easy to find that in North America
German men are the best. They're crazily handsome, polite, adventurous, smart and they value independent women. I think they can be really cold sometimes, but that's why I think they really match with latin women in general. My ex used to make fun of how latin and warm I was, and I'm not even really very "latin" in this sense. The lack of chivalry is very accurated in this video hahaha. Once I asked him to carry a bag and he said "why can't you carry? You have two arms!" Lol I was just asking for help for like 15 minutes 🤣 They're always on time and able to do everything fast. Nobody's perfect, but I would choose a german man to get married with. Love from Brazil!
Thanks for the feedback .. I am Peruvian and would NEVER accept the "why can't you carry? You have two arms", unless he was smiling as joking and then swiftly takes the bag. In South America you know he would be considered rude.
I think latina girls are jealous af. When they see west european men, latina women always say" oh he is cold and I am worm. We match to each other". When they see movie about west european women they say " oh, she is too cold for our latin men" lol. So my observation are that latinas girls are too posesiv and that is what would turn west european guys off u ( by u I don't mean personally u, i am talking about my observation)
@@amiquigonzales7917 i totally agree. It was a joke indeed, but the kind of joke nobody would make in South América because it would sound extremely rude.
Also -- I realize this video might have been a bit too short, so don't fret, I value your input and might potentially film a Part 2 of Dating a German man :)
I've noticed the theme of 'don't expect special treatment' 'he prefers an equal' but to many americans, chivalry and/or courtesy towards women, isn't treating her as a lesser, it's showing that she is special to you. That's the American mindset at least.
I totally get it, but chivalry on a date in Germany would be a little out of place and make everyone uncomfortable. In Germany men and women have the same roles in dating.
I have been waiting for this since FOREVER, why did it have to end so quickly?! Everything in here was true. The brutal honesty is 100% true but that's with German people period - man or woman. Along with "romantic efficiency" and the bread. Proper bread is super important and I'm thankful to my German ex for bringing me into the perfect breaded world. However, since it was so short, I feel as if this was missing somethings such as "Be prepared to do plenty of outdoor activities. The Germans love nature and so more than likely you'll find yourself doing quite a bit of hiking or bike riding". Or "Do not be offended if they're not very physically affectionate at first. Trust. When they're into you, they WILL show it" (same as you had for German women). OR!! "Get ready to listen to a flurry of German cursing when they're driving... even if you see no traffic... just the mere sight of the car in front of them putting on their brake lights will send them flying off the handle. It's not you, it's them."
I met a German guy who invited me to hang out with him. I didn't even know he liked me until he kissed me at the end, lol. He seemed kind of distant and uncomfortable so I thought he didn't like me then BAM...a kiss out of no where! He was not very physically affectionate at first then once things became intimate he was all over me, lol. Also, I had to approach him. When I did, he told me he was flattered that I chose him...it was so cute when he said that. I personally ADORE German men. I prefer the German dating culture over the American dating culture.
When I first dated my husband he told me "Sorry I have to go in 27 minutes." Like, not 25 or 30, but exactly 27! I knew right away that he is from one of the German-speaking countries (He's actually from Austria). Punctuality is their signature :)
"That's supposed to be bread??" Lol, 100% me, German girl living in the US, every day. Actually, the only type of bread I ever eat here is imported or homemade bread.
In my experience (as a German woman), eye contact and smiling does the job most of the time. At least if there's instant chemistry on both sides. That's how I fell in love with 3/4 of my boyfriends, all being German men. The most important thing is that you shouldn't force it too much. Most likely, love will hit you when you don't expect it at all. Like you're randomly sitting nearby some guy on a train or something and suddenly you start smiling at each other. That's how I met my current bf and we're together for nearly a year now.
My aunt married a German-Swiss in 1982 and she moved to live over there, in Basel. Even though we often spoke by phone she never travelled back home to visit us until recently, but that's not the case. The amazing story is that 8 years ago I had some business to take care in Zurich so I called her to check if she's around in order to pay her a visit, and to my surprise she arranged for a "termin" (an appointment in German) ... I said, ok, I'll see you tomorrow, no problem, let's do that "termin" of yours. Next day, I took the train to Basel, bought a huge and very colourful bouquet and a posh box of chocolate for her, a nice and rather expensive Burgundy for her husband and what followed was absolutely jaw dropping: she picked me from the train station, she threatened to file a lawsuit against the local tram company for less than half a minute delay, we arrived at her villa, she arranged a plate with 3 (three!) microscopic salmon sandwiches (one for each) and we drank a coffee. 35-40 minutes I was kicked out with a lame ass excuse. An entire day spent at a local morgue listening to dead corpses farting would've been far more exciting. Fuck me!
Ew. Don't go back there. That was very rude. I've been wondering what makes people this way. I think it's the nanny state. We don't have social security in most African countries and people are generally nicer to each other. S.Africa has social security and xenophobic attacks happen there. Now Europe has the very best social security system and the people seem very cold hearted.
yes i think thats very much the Problem. In my Opinium the German Woman wants a Men who goes straight for her. I also think it isnt something special for a German Woman to have a German Man, they wont give you compliments about your Nationality if you have the same lol.
And if says that most Germans have big dicks that black women love ...what would u say? Bse every time I see a German or Swiss German ...I just know that meal time in bed is gonna be perfect.
As a German (girl) - I have to say: not every German is THAT blunt, but the directness and honesty is well portrayed :D It's actually meant to make things clear and mostly means no judgement or harm. It's often as neutrally spoken like a fun fact, because... it kinda is. Beeing deeply offended by this comes across as weird in Germany, since we're not used to sugarcoat things and don't take everything to heart. We also do not care much about "taboo"-topics, because we have very few, depending the situation. If he asks you questions you may find uncomfortable, you are free to answer vague, or simply say that it's not common to get asked about this in your country. Say it directly. No need to hide who you really are. Actually, if he goes on to ask questions about you, this is like a flashing sign that he is interested in you. It's not a "politeness thing" in Germany to keep a conversation going. I was in Australia once and people there wondered, why Germans always answered to the "How are you?"-greeting. Well, if you don't want an answer, why do you ask me this question? "How are you" is a clear invitation to talk about your day in Germany and leaving it unanswered would be like intentionally ignoring the person before you. It would be quite literally rude not to answer. We mean exactly what we say and though we have proverbs too - we take things very literally. So please don't make promises or invitations you don't mean out of politeness - you will be taken by your word and expected to live up to it. Also, a German rarely makes plans for both of you without considering your wishes. You only have to make them clear! I never met another German who wouldn't consider anything as not discussable. But if you make no noise about what you like or not - be prepared that he will take over to make a progress happen, or just leave for good. Most German men prefer a crystal clear input of the woman and feel lost when she plays the "hmmm...maybe, probably, eventually"- card. Another thing: don't expect a German to treat you like a delicate flower. He thinks of a woman as equal and fully capable of handling her life herself. Physically and financially. Also, the schedule in the video is nonsense. Many Germans are rather chaotic sometimes. (We have a horrible bureaucracy, maybe that's where this cliché comes from.) That all may seem quite unromantic in the original sense, but at least you know what you're dealing with from the getgo.
Omg thats so true. I have a german boyfriend and thats exactly how he was when we started seeing each other. He is really practical, efficient with planning holiday trips and extremely loving and caring. German men are the best!!! 😊
Alberto Figueroa You have no idea! It's funny at times but boy does it have its difficulties. You really have to be super into each other to make it work
I met a couple that was that match. The woman was from Spain and the guy was from Germany. I forget where they lived. They had the kids and they all looked like their father.
I think the Spaniard and Japanese would have the biggest differences - particularly around sexuality. the Spanish, I've noticed, can be very sexually expressive and flirty, as opposed to the Japanese who tend to be more repressed
@@silvanelsire5971 I agree. I discussed "Aliens" on some Dates. Its overall positiv. Some biology and physic knowlegde helps a lot. I can reccomend this topic, but be careful. :'D
Lol okay, I've been thinking of moving to Germany later to work and it's OFFICIAL. German guys are Goals😍. I'm just not going to expect much with dating, because I'm a little traditional, I prefer the man to make the first move😭😂and I'll always have my wallet ready for dates! Also, the honesty is everything ✨💚.
My nationality is Chinese and I live in Australia but I think I may be a German man inside (weirdly) and I've never been to Germany. Aside from the bread thing, all of this is me lmao.
Денис Александрович It always depends on the Person, but there are a lot of funny men like this in Germany. The steriotype that Germans don't have humour is a plain lie.
Hey peeps -- I'm getting an OVERWHELMING amount of requests to feature Spain and believe me, I'm dying to! I love the Spanish culture. The only thing is -- I don't want to film it in the freezing cold/snow of Canada so the goal is to travel to Spain and film this the way it should be filmed. We are opening up a Patreon account next week so if you want to see us travel to Spain to film this -- join in and hopefully we can make it happen soon!
Dating Beyond Borders With current crisis and politicians that do what they can to ruin their lives it also would be good if you offered them a parachute to jump to the moon.
Great to hear that Marina! Loved this video as well, how long does it take you to film these videos? I think the people who complain about this or that don't realize all the hard work behind the camera, trying to find the actors, getting in touch with them, video editing... etc
Definitely! It usually takes about 6-8 hours, so hopefully once we get a budget we can start spreading them out over a couple of days. Otherwise, we deal with things like weather, and in this case it got dark really fast and it took us too long to film the first couple of scenes so by the time we got outside we were quite screwed!
Dating Beyond Borders pleeeaaaase, take a short trip and visit Portugal when in spain. Portuguese girls are renowed by loads of foreigners as being some of the most unique around, mostly for importance they put on a strong connection before sex...
THIS!! OHMYGOD THIS IS SO MY BOYFRIEND. Thanks for making this video, hope there won't be another fight with my German bf because me complaning about how we're lack of communication (we're ldr). Like this video showed me, German guy doesn't like small talk and it's exactly what my bf told me.
I just watched this. I live in the US and never visited Germany. But, I am of German decent and my god does this hit home. That guys IS me. LOL. Keep making these. They're great.
I'm Dutch and I think the Dutch are just plain rude. Yes, they will often smile and joke while being rude to you, but that doesn't really compensate for their rudeness. The Germans are more polite.
I would say the Germans are just as direct as the Dutch but more in a formal and polite way. I'm half Dutch half German and live in the Netherlands but I visit Germany quite often.
The organising and planning is so accurate... I have 2 diaries where I keep track of everything I am doing and of what I need to do. HOW DO PEOPLE LIVE WITHOUT THIS???
I didn't expect to meet such an amazing woman like you, its a great honored I came across your comment. You look interesting. So I said to myself I had to know you.
Oh yes! Finally one on German men! Thank you so much, Marina! :) I have really liked it and I'm looking forward to watching part 2.;) I come from a German family and I find German men really attractive, but I'm too old fashioned. I like the man to make the first step, so I guess it will never happen hahaha And I agree, German bread is the best.
+stylishfellow. Would you share some of them with me? I love social characteristics, different cultures and the interactions between the two. So informative and so funny.
It’s impossible that German men aren’t romantic, after all the beautiful classical music german composers have made ❤️❤️ not to mention their famous poets
Well my German husband is romantic 🤫 he buys dessous, he surprises me buying my fav snack now and then, on my birthday n valentines day every year he places flower on table before he leaves for work🥰
I didn't expect to meet such an amazing woman like you, its a great honored I came across your comment. You look interesting. So I said to myself I had to know you.
Actually, after watching both the German Girlfriend and Boyfriend videos, all it's done is tell me that if you want something perfectly and meticulously planned out, seek the help of a German.
I've been sceptical about clicking these videos, because as a rule I tend not to like stereotyping people. Now I clicked this because I am German, so I figured I could see how accurate the video is. Now of course I can only speak from my experience - how I personally act and how other Germans I know do. I do feel that it's true that honesty and directness is valued more in German culture than many others. The former is especially true for me. I don't like to lie and avoid lies and half-truths where I can. Sometimes that mean not telling a person what they want to hear or what I think would make them feel good, because I would feel that I'm being dishonest otherwise. Now I do think that I'm on the extreme side for that one, even for Germans, and of course there is a lot of variety there from person to person (don't expect every German to be honest, there's bullshitters in Germany too just like everywhere else). I did cringe at some of the things he said though. I'd never tell a woman I though she was good for a hookup like that (though I wouldn't really think like that in the first place) and I don't know a lot of guys that would could pull something like that. Needing the other person to be a bit more direct, ideally starting a conversation themselves is absolutely true for me (a bit context dependent though, sometimes I also approach people if the situation lends itself to it), but again I do think I'm on the extreme side there. It's not totally uncommon for German guys to approach women and flirt aggressively, but I'd say on average Germans do tend to be a bit more restrained when it comes to that. As for not giving women special treatment and preferring an equal partner, again true for me and true for many Germans as I see it. I might hold open a door for a date, but then again I hold doors open for men too. The bread one is perfect. German bread culture is real and I'm serious about my bread. I can even bake a decent German bread myself. As for the meticulous and efficent planning - that's not me at all and I think it varies wildly from person to person. Some Germans are exactly like that, other, like me, barely plan at all unless absolutely necessary. Now I do like to add that punctuality is very much valued in German culture, something I tend to be bad at, which can lead to conflict and, depending on the occasion can be seen as rude. So knowing when to take punctuality seriously is important when dealing with Germans. I'd like to point out that the cheek kissing when greeting someone, as they did in the video is somewhat uncommon in Germany. Some people do it, most don't. Since people are generally familiar with it though, it's fine to initatiate it if that's your way of greeting a date. Just consider that it might be surprising for some folks and might not be as smooth as you expect. At least from my personal experience hugging is a common way to greet friends, dates, sometimes even people who just met will give a short hug (usually restricted to opposite sex and initiated by the woman), but that's rather rare. This is true for many young people, while in my experience older people tend to be a bit more reserved when it comes to hugging. Overall, I'm positively surprised, I think for the most part this is fairly accurate, if a bit exaggerated. Maybe it just so happened that most of these fit me and my experiences and someone else would disagree with some of the things I wrote. If so, please leave a reply. Well, this ended up being a lot longer than I originally anticipated. If anyone makes it through all of this: Thanks for reading and I hope getting another perspective on this was interesting to you.
I noticed all european men like forward women who make the first step..... i would never be able to date or make new friends in europe XD i'm very old fashioned... the guy has to make the first step LOL :P
Omg, I'm supposed to be Mexican but... 1. Definitely like when women are more forward✔️ 2. Hate small talk✔️ 3. A bit brutally honest✔️ 4. Treat women as equals✔️ 5. Like to be organized and try to fit activities so they flow naturally ✔️ I might just be a closet German. 😱 Still not blond nor blue-eyed, just your regular well looking mexican guy ;)
I am actually getting married to a German man this summer and this is indeed very accurate. But for sake of clarity I must say when a German guy is really into you - they will go over they head to get the woman they want. Topics they left out though: the obsession with everything that has to do with cars and how to drink a Weizebier in the "correct way". :D Prost!
I feel like this was probably one of the most relatable videos you ever did, especially the bread and the smalltalk thing hahah the itinerary was exaggerated but it was still pretty accurate overall :)
Glad to see this video. I'm a Filipina and have a German friend online which I matched in a dating app. We've been communicating for 6 months now. We always into deep conversation, hearing each other's opinions and sharing the same humor. I thought it was just a coincidence that we share the same attitudes (and interests) but after seeing this video, I can say it's really their nature. I like the way he thinks and perceive things. At first, he seems distant and cold but now I slowly see his soft side. He even showed me the picture of his family and I did the same to let him know that I considered him as a friend that I trust. He likes me as his friend but I like him more than that. However, I don't have plans to tell him for now. I wanted to know him more when we personally meet these coming few months.

Glad I saw this video, opens your eyes to how different Americans and Germans can be. Certain things came off as rude, but now I see it is they really are just being honest.
Three points of advice I was given (have fun whilst translating): "Stille Wasser sind tief." "Sei freundlich wenn Du höflich bist." "Man muss die Damen wie Dirnen und die Dirnen wie Damen behandeln."
+Hanna The Swede You really want them to upload a video that shows a group of men with high developed melanin synthesis groping a blonde girl? Isn't that what dating becomes like in Europe? :-/
I have heard German guys say similar things to women they don't really know. It was shocking at the time but over time I've realized for some German men that's normal. They don't mean to be rude, but not all cultures are that blunt.
I wouldnt take it as rude if anyone said it to me. I like honesty. I would have respect for you instantly if someone said something "harsh" to me. I think insecure people are the ones that can't handle honesty
This video displays exaggerated tendencies. We do have a tendency for what would be considered brutal honesty in other cultures, at least thats what I would say.
After dating two German men back to back, I must say that:
- Yes, they can look hot as hell and still be really shy.

I'm definitly a German man... And I am actually a German man.
You know what I thought the same thing. I mean because the majority of my mom's side of the family came from Germany after ww2. But still I'm part American so yeah. And also I can speak a little bit of German

It is :) But not to people who might get offended by a simple joke some people are just tiny cry babys xD

There're more than 300 sorts of bread in Germany and the most aren't "dark and harsh"... unless wrong stored.
German humour, man. It's no laughing matter.

My husband is the sweetest most caring person I know. No we’re not into small talk but we have very deep conversations which make our bond so much stronger. He loves to cook for me and look after me. He’s very intelligent and I learn so much from him. I’m no picnic. I suffer from panic disorder and bipolar disorder but he is so patient with me it’s unreal.
MrsTruthTeller Where did you approach this guy?
Getting me a German man. American men are too fucking sensitive and too soft for my blood. I like mine open minded with interesting different things, traveling and honesty. Besides I love me some tall sexy German guys. ❤

So glad to hear that!
Haha that is a fine but very important difference. I'm from south Germany and we love our bread.

I need a german man! If he believes women and men as equals, likes deep talk, goes straight to the point, and is always direct then he’s perfectiooon!
awsome :) I love this too
He believes men and women are equal ??

The best part was when he had the trip to Verona written down in rigid timetable format. That's pretty German alright !
It`s not, it`s a joke, silly fool ;-D
hooby marburg actually, that's something I would legitimately do
It is perfectly ok if you plan your life this way,
but this is scripted reality transporting the silly idea, that every bloody German is so organized and efficient, just as the stupid stereotype is saying about us all.

But that's long-term relationship-invested, would not talk about such things on a date ; )
But the brutal honesty. You do not have to make such an effort for me"
Very interesting! Thank you for the input
GabdeVue What if you said your makeup was just for you though? Would it seem superficial to him?
He does not care about make up. It is just for me. I still ask him if he likes something and sure he has opinions about what he likes and what not. But makeup simply is not important. He appreciates me putting any kind of effort into something we do together - including dressing up. Same the other way around. I like him to dress up for things like going to the movies. Not because that is expected, but because I like having a bit of effort and preparation for a date. But if he doesn't feel like it - all is fine. I take him any time in some old, hole-filled band shirt and an old grubby jeans as long as we spend time together ; )
As far as I can tell: Make up and people liking make up is not his world but he doesn't judge.

@@amiquigonzales7917 i totally agree. It was a joke indeed, but the kind of joke nobody would make in South América because it would sound extremely rude.
I am an Italian girl and I have been dating a German guy for more than 1 year and one thing is sure: Germans love their bread.
cit. elena they also love it when you pick a side and don’t change
So do the French
And we have more than just one dish.
In Italy only pasta exists.
@@july9566 there is no bread in France, just a "white molitan"
Hi ❤❤🌷
Also -- I realize this video might have been a bit too short, so don't fret, I value your input and might potentially film a Part 2 of Dating a German man :)
Dating Beyond Borders - the length was good and multi-part videos are preferable over something too long
Dating Beyond Borders yes please!!!
Dating Beyond Borders Thank you. It was good. He was acting as a real german.
Dating Beyond Borders Yasss a part two would be awesome 😄
Dating Beyond Borders Yes! A second part, please (:
I've noticed the theme of 'don't expect special treatment' 'he prefers an equal' but to many americans, chivalry and/or courtesy towards women, isn't treating her as a lesser, it's showing that she is special to you. That's the American mindset at least.
I totally get it, but chivalry on a date in Germany would be a little out of place and make everyone uncomfortable. In Germany men and women have the same roles in dating.
Забавно, что в России также!:-))))🎉
Wonderful points. Will try to do Part 2. We didn't plan this well and the darkness at 4:30 really affected the shooting
you guys did a great job! I do look forward to a part 2! Danke
Dating Beyond Borders yes ! a part 2 would be perfect.
omg that is on point! even one car in front of me annoys me lol...
That’s why I moved away from my birth place a few decades ago. Now I can be fashionably late for my dates 😎
"That's supposed to be bread??" Lol, 100% me, German girl living in the US, every day. Actually, the only type of bread I ever eat here is imported or homemade bread.
Ohh this was filmed in Munich; my hometown ! Lots of love from Germany !! :)) xx
noooooooo! I've been waiting for this for so long and it's so short :'(
I know!! I'm so upset about it as well. Maybe I will do a Part 2 :)
i want to know what happen in that verona trip!
Dating Beyond Borders maybe a norwegian/swedish guy will be up ...in the following half year?
great video though, i think this is the typical german guy!
Trying to get on it as fast as possible, but there are none in Canada so I'm trying to go to Scandinavia.. which is why it is taking time
In my experience (as a German woman), eye contact and smiling does the job most of the time.
So you have fallen in love at least 4 times lmfao
Sounds like a pretty ideal guy. Cool, collected, honest, rational, and interested in deeper conversations rather than soul-crushing small talk.
Me too. I appreciate directness and honesty and no silly mind games.
LOL the part when he's honest about what he thinks about you is super accurate
You know your dating a German man when he don’t pay for dates. Get your purse out ladies lol😂😂😂
That's not true
Not true at all
I think that's a good thing! Everyone should pay their own share.
Replace German into Dutch
Many woman want equality until it comes to stuff like this.
Fuck me!
What the actual f*ck 😂 I’m speechless wth did I just read 😂😂😂😂😂😂 ew
Ха ха ха ха ха!!!!!😮😂
Yes, i love it when a woman comes to me and speaks.
unfortunately that doesn't happen often.
fixed to pieces is it cause how German women are?
yes i think thats very much the Problem. In my Opinium the German Woman wants a Men who goes straight for her. I also think it isnt something special for a German Woman to have a German Man, they wont give you compliments about your Nationality if you have the same lol.
i see. That is really funny
And if says that most Germans have big dicks that black women love ...what would u say? Bse every time I see a German or Swiss German ...I just know that meal time in bed is gonna be perfect.
I will come to you and ask you out! I am Romanian, currently living in Luxembourg. Trier is near me, wink-wink 😊❤️
As a German (girl) - I have to say: not every German is THAT blunt, but the directness and honesty is well portrayed :D
It's actually meant to make things clear and mostly means no judgement or harm.
(We have a horrible bureaucracy, maybe that's where this cliché comes from.)
That all may seem quite unromantic in the original sense, but at least you know what you're dealing with from the getgo.
May I ask some questions
The was well said ,but "how are you" isn't much of a greeting here, its rather an English thing
Omg thats so true. I have a german boyfriend and thats exactly how he was when we started seeing each other. He is really practical, efficient with planning holiday trips and extremely loving and caring. German men are the best!!! 😊
It would be awesome to make a video about a Spaniard and a German in a date. We are completely different :D
Or a latinamerican
Alberto Figueroa You have no idea! It's funny at times but boy does it have its difficulties. You really have to be super into each other to make it work
I met a couple that was that match. The woman was from Spain and the guy was from Germany. I forget where they lived. They had the kids and they all looked like their father.
I think the Spaniard and Japanese would have the biggest differences - particularly around sexuality.
the Spanish, I've noticed, can be very sexually expressive and flirty, as opposed to the Japanese who tend to be more repressed

Awesome! :)
Wow, this was more accurate then expected. Good Job.

The Dutch are just like the Germans in terms of honesty, but they do it more with a smile and a laugh. The Germans are just stone cold honest.
How many Germany do you know, honestly? ;-)
Haha I've heard that it is the other way around
I'm Dutch and I think the Dutch are just plain rude. Yes, they will often smile and joke while being rude to you, but that doesn't really compensate for their rudeness. The Germans are more polite.
I would say the Germans are just as direct as the Dutch but more in a formal and polite way. I'm half Dutch half German and live in the Netherlands but I visit Germany quite often.

Actually, after watching both the German Girlfriend and Boyfriend videos, all it's done is tell me that if you want something perfectly and meticulously planned out, seek the help of a German.
Yes we love our plans, this is why they are so good
You are not wrong. That is in the DNA.

:D Prost!

I am from Germany and the Man arn´t that insensitive that's really mean actually! They would NEVER say that thinks to a Woman.
