Hiya, Dan!! 😊 I’m a 23 year old female from Orlando, Florida, medically diagnosed with Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, Schizophrenia, Bipolar & due to repetitive life problems constantly battling with Adjustment Disorder. (In conclusion, ya follower’s a hawt mess...🥲) I recently came across your videos while researching about autism. I am not medically diagnosed with Autism, but it’s the only thing that seems to describe SO many things about me just when I started to question who I was, why I act the way I do & feel how I feel. My life has made more sense since doing all my research & I’d just like to thank you for helping!! I look forward to seeing more amazing videos from you!! You’re truly a light thru this shtty pandemic!! Stay strong Aspie King! 💪🏼👑🌈♾
Would just like to include something I found interesting during my research about myself & autism: •Large Brains!! - I once was attacked by a neighbor’s dog at around age 11, which led to an X-ray scan on my head. The doctor was absolutely fascinated by the size of my brain, saying he’d never seen such a huge brain for someone my age & just wouldn’t stop talking about it. I read quite a few articles about large brains in autism, was pretty interesting.
Hi! 🧚🏼♀️ My name is Elin and I'm an 18 year old girl from Sweden. I got my Autism diagnosis 2 years ago and I'm still trying to understand it. I am a girl and 15 years old and have just told my teacher that I might have autism or adhd. I don’t know if I have done the right thing telling my teacher. And I don’t know what to expect during an autism test
I understand your concerns. I'm riding the fence about having my son tested. Please keep us up to date on how this works out for you. I'd love to follow your experience.
Get tested! It changed everything for my son! Access to services, accommodations such as extra time during academic tests or even just to be allowed to self-isolate if it got to be too much for him... to name just a few of the advantages of a diagnosis. The disadvantages were few by comparison. Good luck and hang in there!

Actually, one of the first names given to Autism, as late as the early 70's had been infantile schizophrenia. Many adults in the 50's, like my husband were diagnosed with infantile schizophrenia, despite the experts of the time recommendation to NOT use that term. Learned about it in a great book. Watching from New South Wales just before heading to bed on a Saturday night as I have to leave for work at 6am tomorrow.....love watching your videos, so educational and assists me to learn about myself more and come to terms with having symptoms of Aspergers without a formal diagnosis. Thanks Dan, Mitch.
I didn't know that (i have dysautomia via EDS & POTS - Plus ASD, Tourettes, Epilepsy, coeliac's, depression & anxiety issues). I don't know about anything helping both. XO 💞 xoxo
I'm watching from the UK. The lanyard you mentioned reminded me of these coloured cards I had during my school years which I would hold up to show the teacher if necessary. Green card for being okay, red card for being overwhelmed. I also struggle with bad depression. Nobody irl really took that seriously until it progressed to me expressing a certain ideation, which made my mum get me seen by someone.
From my reading and such, males are more likely to be diagnosed with Autism due to almost all the studies were done on males subjects, therefore being much easier to recognise in males than in women. Also, women tend to have quite different "symptoms" than males. I've noticed ( from videos and personal experience) that males seems to show signs of autism quite young as they stand out from the "norm", though with females their signs tend to be very gender stereotypical. For example appreciating sparkley/ shiny stuff, obsessing over cute animals, excitedly squealing with arm movement etc. I personally feel as society seems to be moving away from gender stereotypes, this also makes things a little more noticeable and clear especially in the medical field when it comes to assessing behaviors.... Just my two cents though...
I am watching from Murfreesboro TN. I wanted to add that I am participating in a study conducted by Vanderbilt University to better understand Autism in adults that are not diagnosed. I will have the full answer for myself and, hopefully, be a revelation for other struggling adults.

These bits here are so important when it comes to understanding autism.
Autism was originally a term used as a trait of schizophrenics, and at one point autism was even called "childhood schizophrenia". The idea of solitary self, withdrawal from social interaction, etc, was brought forward as a diagnostic term from the terms once used for schizophrenia symptoms. One of the many odd factoids in my mental vault.
Cool video! Such fascinating facts. One of my children has autism, Celiacs, and Irlen Syndrome ( effects I think 20 or 30% of people with autism). I am so appreciative of your videos. They have helped me a lot as a parent - the ones you’ve done with girls & autism- spot on!
Any suggestions for folks that need audio feedback regularly? My son constantly has to tap or bang on things. Recently after much frustration of making his sister's scream all the time I realized I think they are related. It's audio stimuli he seeks. This can be squashed with head phones in some cases. But what about school? I got him a fidget ring the other day. He loves it. Unfortunately his teachers aren't impressed because what used to be annoying pencil and finger taps on the desk are now clanking his ring on the desk sounds which are louder and more distracting. No matter how many fidget type things I purchase they only seem to work if he can make noise with them. I see how frustrating it is for teachers. But it's also frustrating at home as I get really overwhelmed with lots of noise. Any suggestions are welcome.
Hi! I watch this video from Russia, I am a mother of 8 years old boy, diagnosed with autism. (sorry for my bad English, I don't use any translators or dictionary, only my poor school khowledge). I want to say, I am hardly waiting for times in our country, when people with autism would be acepted and understood by society. Now it is very hard here to rise a child with special needs, because nobody knows why this kid's behavior is so weird sometimes, people think that my boy is strange, stupid, silly, even dangerous (although he won't hurt a fly), some parents don't allow their children to play with him just becouse he laughs with "no reason"... Sometimes I want to scream out: my son just autistic, and you people are rude and heartless! But I can't blame everybody, because I hadn't know anything about autism before my son was diagnosed. Here in Russia autistic kids and adults are not included in social life, they are important only for their families... (and people with different disabilities either aren't included basicly). Parents of special kids have to break through misunderstanding, indifference, fears of people aruond and incompetence of doctors and teachers, every single day. Our society have a long way forward to acept humans with all kinds of disorders as it's equivalent members...
Hey that happened to my child too, in the US 🇺🇸 and in Mexico 🇲🇽, both of my son's family members like on his dad side disowned him, even in my side of the family too, I stopped getting together with them bcuz they didn't understand my child all because he is different. I’m as aspie with pseudo seizures.
I have them too but that’s an out dated term it’s called non epileptic attack disorder
I'm interested to know whether it is a coincidence or if there is a link. I have autism and polycystic ovarian syndrome and after speaking with several other autistic females in a facebook group, many of them also have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Maybe it is just a coincidence.. who knows?

I was hoping to hear more about awesome people like Bill Gates or Elon Musk for example who are suspected on the spectrum and things they accomplished despite possible challenges they faced within themselves. Like you mentioned them briefly but I was just hoping to be more inspired. Love your videos though sorry if this sounds negative!
